Yes you can, but in future if you try to claim warranty for some issues, then they may blame you for not having changed the engine oil on time. There is no way you can prove to them that you really changed oil outside svc center, at the recommended interval. That is the only reason I am changing the engine oil at the svc center itself.

I enquired the dealers here in Chennai and they say that Gixxer has not yet been launched and will be launched within this month. The website also doesn't show a hint of been launched. Has Gixxer been launched or not?

riding my GS with 130/80 Ceat tire on stock wheel. If you want I can upload pictures of it, I would recommend you to go for 120/80 cause in 130/80 there is were little space in swing arm.

my GS is now @ 18500 kms old
starting trouble, sparkplug firing is not proper, and hiccup when i tried to accelerate,
checked spark firing pattern, its not regular and not normal
replaced the spark plug with the same brand and same spec, now my GS is going good issue resolved

My Suzuki GS150R was in my parking for 6 odd months..
Yesterday I put keys in my tank and slowly tried to open it and it was spik N span no issues. Petrol evaporated though.
Bike is 2010 model but tank is 2012 model.

Problem-When I put my keys and turn it on, the display does not come up. It's completely blank. 6 months back the battery was dead already. There was no self start and horn worked only when bike ran. But display was fine.

Question- I am shit scared about the display- Has it gone bad completely ?
Or will I put in a new battery and it will be fine? Local mechs refused to work on display saying its risky.

What other precautions should I do before trying to start bike apart from-
1 Change engine oil, brake oil,
                            2 New stock spark plug
                            3 New battery
4 Remove chains and grease it properly

Im planning to do all this from a local mech and then take it a service centre. But God knows and few of u know which service centre in Mumbai will not unnecessarily try to sell me new display.

                            Help ! :-(

No point it opening the display, esp with local-mechs. Just a battery change should fix it.

                              - Fill-up few hundreds rupees worth fresh petrol from a bunker.
                              - Empty the petrol in carburettor bowl/float-chamber, let fresh petrol come out through drain pipe. Oh, you can collect that petrol in a bottle.

                              NOTE:
                              - Motorcycle battery needs charging at least once a month. Since there is no absolute battery, charge leaks through membranes, I guess.
                              - Next time you keep motorcycle on a long-term storage, battery needs to be taken out & put on a charger. Or give the motorcycle to your close/trusted person for interim use.

                              Update the status later.

                                Hi All,

An update after 3 years of ownership.

Completed 30,000 Kms on the 3rd year completion and returns an average of 56KMPL

List of spares changed so far:

Spark Plug holder: during First service
Oil Filter: Twice (Last before 20K Kms)
Spark Plug: Once at 29000 Kms (80 rs)
Front Sprocket: at 17000 Kms (115 rs)
Sprocket Set and chain: at 27000 Kms
Front wheel bearings: around 25000 Kms (80 rs)
Oil: Mostly runs on Castrol Active 20W40 changed every 2000 Kms.
Handle Bar: changed due to a fall in parking lot (330 rs)
                                S sticker on the tank (1 X 140 rs)
Front Fork oil changed once around 23000-25000 kms
                                Carb cleaned once

Battery charged twice with Desktop UPS
Air filter cleaned around 2000 Kms interval using Vaccum cleaner

Bike mostly self serviced at home (wash, oil change, chain adjustment and lubrication, spark plug and air filter cleaning)

                                Issues:

1st: Bike stopped before first service because of spark plug holder issue. Fixed during first service.
2nd: Wobbling - Issue temp solved by changing front wheel bearings.

Current issue: Wobbling causing right shoulder pain. Mechanic suggested to change tires.
Left rear shock abs leaks oil. Yet to check the issue

Overall, GS has been a reliable and a pocket friendly bike.
