    Dear Nagaeshwar,

I apolizise to you for the delay.

We are having Gulf Pride 4T Plus 10W 30 which is been formualted with a semi synthetic Base Oil.

The Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W 40 which we are marketing is only of Mineral Base Oil. We are planning to launch a product in 10W 3 Grade with a Fully synthetic Base Oil. Sorry to Say currently we are not selling any Synthetic Engine Oils in Two wheeler Segment.

    Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W 40: Features

Specifications: API SM, JASO MA2 Which is the first brand to get such high performance sepecification.
Drain Interval : 10000 Kms [Double Magic Formulae]
Helping you from Clutch Slipage, since all two wheelers have wet Clutch which indirectly helps in better performance of the engine.
Recommended for all high performance Engines.

Since in India we are not much accustomed to use Fully synthetic oils, The company is expecting to come up with synthetic products in the year to come.

    Thanks & Regards,

thats very good info bro. Now its established that gulf pride 4t 20w40 is mineral oil. By the way did my 4th service few days back. Changed oil to gulf pride 4t 20w40. Changed oil filter. Checked regular stuff like chain, spark plug and tightened few nuts here and there. Bike has become smoother. Gear shifts are effortless. I am loving the experience. Two thumbs up for the oil. Previously was using suzuki oil, castrol power 1 and castrol active. Gulf is the best I have experienced till now. I will use synthetic after maybe 12000kms. One question guys till how many days the oil will be good after you remove the seal. I had to buy two 900ml cans as 1l was not available. Also can I topup if the oil level decreases? Will there be any negative effects for mixing old oil with new oil? Raj

      • @Basu.....As per previous discussion in this forum mixing same grade type oil(mixing 20w40mineral to mineral20w40 ) will not have any effects,But mixing different grade and type is not advisable/recommanded.

top up with the same oil can be done without any hesitation in case of oil level decrease......

If you use it with in next three/four services(up to 6 months)it will be good or else keeping the cap tightly(like capping with two sheets of polythene sheet) i am not sure about this....but read somewhere...didnot remember the site though...so suggestions are welcome.....

As per Hydbike who used GP4tP 20w40(through whom i came to know about this awesome oil) it can be easily used for 4000km with out any issues.......i too,on GP4tP 20w40(20 days till now) so we have to test it for its drain interval........to get first hands on GS.

            • Hey, does anyone know the amount of fuel left in the carburettor float chamber when we switch off the fuel-cock..
My bike is a Suzuki zeus with a mikuni VM18 carb..
I know the details for the Mikuni BS26 carb as 30ml..

The idea is that the grease will get into all the gaps without trouble like this and eventually the kerosene will evoporate away leaving only grease which will give superior lubrication. There wont be any excess grease to attract dust and sediments as well.
Guys also you could try Gear Oil to lubricate the chain. It is very simple and consumes very little (may b it has got to do something with surface tension etc it spreads evenly all around the chain). I use Castrol Manual Gear Oil SAE 90 EP. I use a syringe about 4-5 ml and i can sufficiently cover the entire chain! The oil sticks on chain for more than 2-3 weeks and i have read on the label it is safe for any kind of rubber or plastic that it comes to contact with.

Regarding Coldstarts i think this has mostly got to do with the weather change. Winter and dry weather has less humidity and air molecules are less densely packed, when the engine (tuned in summer) sucks the air/fuel mixture it is being fed less than optimum air fuel mixture (less dense air part and same fuel part) which would deviate from optimum value. Usually resolves with using trusted unadulterated fuel, retuning, or simply warming the engine up, or feeding a slightly richer mixture (loosen pilot screw)

The scientific way to tune the carb/bike would be with the help of CO analyser (live monitoring of how much CO and carbon is in the exhaust which is a fixed range given by Suzuki) and should be done at every service by the service center per manual. As the piston rings and the cylinder settle down to their "runned in" position and as the engine gets more set, there will be slight changes as to how well/not well fuel gets burnt and CO tuning needs to be done.

At my second service at Millers the mech had tuned the carb and i asked him how many turns he said default value is "1.5 turns from full close, last time it was a bit richer, i have tuned using the CO analyzer"

The rear wheel getting warm is usual, happens in my bike too. It could be the heat radiated from brake drum where it is generated during braking. Also, the rear wheel is where the torque is applied to the road for the vehicle to move and this friction too produces heat. our GS has almost 1:3 final reduction so good bit of torque will be going to the rear wheel which would produce heat, although this heat is not alarming but it is noticeable and alloys do a better job than steel rims in taking the heat away from the tires.

Regarding CA Series RR, i too was told to wait 20 days and call etc as there is no stock right now.

I don't think half chain guard available for GS; may be you can take off the lower part of the chain cover and keep it half naked

                  • Hi Raghu,

What a co-incidence, we both need replacement for RR unit and we are with the same millers road suzuki I got the third service done on 2nd july so the replacement stock should be in by 22nd

On 29 june I called them they said their was one CA RR unit in stock later they said they don't have one their hmmmm am asking them from my second sevice itself alas they agreed.

CA RR unit will fix the following issues

                    # batt charging issue on GS comes with the BA RR unit.

                    # head lamp and indicator goes dim at low speed.

Only while replacing oil filter we need more than one ltr oil rest of the times one ltr is enough usually they won't change oil on second service we have to check and find if oil change is reqd or not if reqd change it

Hey, the carb tuning method didnt work.
I set the idling rpm to 3000 and mixture as lean as the screw would go, but the engine didnt stall or turn off.. the rpm only came down to about 2ooo, the tacho reading was varying but it wasnt tending to stall or anything..

Any suggestion ?? i think i managed to get it to the factory settings for now, dont know if i did it successfully though..(factory setting was 2.5 rotations from leanest position in my case)

So CA Unit will improve the battery charging rate, more than BA unit?

I guess Castrol Magantec comes in Synthetic as well as Semi Synthetic, depending on the Viscosity Grade. Have heard good things about it. It should be good for your Baleno. Do not have any Idea about the Pricing though.

During last Service, I got my AA Rectifier changed to BA Series as CA was not available. Is BA worse than the AA Series and will it cause Issues with the Battery? Should i ask for change to CA Series ? I doubt they would agree as i have already replaced a lot of Parts for free under Warranty which includes Chain Cover, Fuel Tank and AA Rectifier.

Regarding Oil, i got 1 Ltr Bottle of Gulf Oil. I intend to change the Oil Filter as well. Is 1 Ltr not sufficient for this and do i need to purchase another Bottle of Oil ? Coz mostly all Oils come in 1 Ltr Packs and not 1.1 or 1.2 ?
They must be taking into consideration the Oil Filter change as well.

That's what the svc supervisor at millers road suzuki said

He said the BA serial RR unit. Is not providing the required amout of charge to battery and CA serial RR will fix it,
(The above is applicable for those bikes that comes with BA serial RR unit as default)

moreover CA serial RR unit wil provide better power at low RPM so as the headlight as well as other lights won't go dim at low speed.

Am not sure, hopefully they will repace mine by this month end,, once they replaced it will let all know on its performance.

I guess 1 ltr oil with oil filter change will not have negative effects. It would be 100ml less than what is recommended. In my 1st service I got the oil filter changed. The mechanic said its ok to use 1ltr oil. However, this time I got 900ml bottle and with oil filter change I was short by 200ml. Therefore did not take the risk and decided to buy another bottle. So its really your call. You can buy another 900ml bottle or just fill the 1 ltr oil. Raj

                              • @ABHI.......

As per SUZUKI OWNER'S MANUAL In case of oil filter change,we require 100 ml extra....so totally it is 900ml+100ml.....incase of oil change only it is 900 ml Refer PAGE 6-23....SO THE BOTTOM LINE IS 1 LITRE IS ENOUGH NO NEED TO BUY EXTRA CAN

I request you to drive in with 900ml oil and than if you feel abnormal engine behavour than you can top up with extra 100 ml...this way you can help us with your feedback for our next oil change including oil filter. with 1 litre...

There is one more way...if you want fill 1 litre oil in engine....and at rhe same do not want to buy extra can....ask the svc guyz to provide 100ml(they provide the castrol) for oil filter change.......they will charge for 100 ml only and further more the two are same grade mineral oils so no issues in using......
