actually GSR's stock set-up idling is very high.....also that needs to be normalized for optimized tune.Since your rpms came down to only 2000rpm,use the idling screw to lower it to around 1000rpms,then you will notice the irregularity of the engine. Then keep following the next steps as told.Originally posted by thefalcon View Post@MACH50
Hey, the carb tuning method didnt work.
I set the idling rpm to 3000 and mixture as lean as the screw would go, but the engine didnt stall or turn off.. the rpm only came down to about 2ooo, the tacho reading was varying but it wasnt tending to stall or anything..Hell's Angel

Local mechs are using the following two options# 1 they pour 900 ml to oil tank, rest 100 ml goes with the filter# 2 one ltr oil goes to oil tank and they use the 50ml MAK 4T pouch oil for filter change.########## Like honda and yamaha suzuki should come with their own brand oil or they should stick to a good brand oi which suits their product. As of now suzuki leaves it to dealers descrition so some dealers uses veedol oil !!! Seen during service they bough oil in barrels and when the svc guy goes to store they pour it in the 1 ltr measuring jug!!!We are not sure of when they seal opened the barrel (air contamiination is possible rite )What's your sugestion mates ?Originally posted by abhi_gsr View PostI guess Castrol Magantec comes in Synthetic as well as Semi Synthetic, depending on the Viscosity Grade. Have heard good things about it. It should be good for your Baleno. Do not have any Idea about the Pricing though.
Good to see so many Positive Feedbacks about the Gulf Oil. Am eagely waiting to change to Gulf now and give my Feedback.
During last Service, I got my AA Rectifier changed to BA Series as CA was not available. Is BA worse than the AA Series and will it cause Issues with the Battery? Should i ask for change to CA Series ? I doubt they would agree as i have already replaced a lot of Parts for free under Warranty which includes Chain Cover, Fuel Tank and AA Rectifier.
Regarding Oil, i got 1 Ltr Bottle of Gulf Oil. I intend to change the Oil Filter as well. Is 1 Ltr not sufficient for this and do i need to purchase another Bottle of Oil ? Coz mostly all Oils come in 1 Ltr Packs and not 1.1 or 1.2 ?
They must be taking into consideration the Oil Filter change as well.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

^ my dealer uses castrol. Even though he says its semi, i doubt it as the oil hardly lasts 1000Kms. I had a visual check on the oil, Its a castrol drum with a measruing cup and a siphon system. I'm not going to get my oil changed from them here on. My heart does not permit the use of some loose oil in a exposed cup. I changed my oil today from castrol power one to Petronas Sprinta. It feels just awesome to revv my bike hard! my gear shifts have become smooth and the bike just revvs freely and the vibes are hardly noticiable. next on the line (After 3K kms) is AGIP fully synth.
How do i find the rectifier code ? Im planning a Full DC conversion on the GS and have bought high intensity White LEDS for the Number plate Light. I'm on the look out for white LED pilots in chennai. Any heads up would be greatly appreciated!

Hi bro I have AA RR unit with 9AH battery ,after 1.2 years my battery not charging properly ,I gave it for full charge ,but its not worked so changed my battery to 9AH exide BIKERZ..IS.All these due to RR AA series??????,If i change to CA series is it capable of charging 9AH battery...Pls ask this while u go for getting ur new CA RR unitOriginally posted by MSN1 View PostHi Raghu,
What a co-incidence, we both need replacement for RR unit and we are with the same millers road suzuki I got the third service done on 2nd july so the replacement stock should be in by 22nd
On 29 june I called them they said their was one CA RR unit in stock later they said they don't have one their hmmmm am asking them from my second sevice itself alas they agreed.
CA RR unit will fix the following issues
# batt charging issue on GS comes with the BA RR unit.
# head lamp and indicator goes dim at low speed.
Only while replacing oil filter we need more than one ltr oil rest of the times one ltr is enough usually they won't change oil on second service we have to check and find if oil change is reqd or not if reqd change it

Great raghav... my next in line is Petronas... currently running AGIP.. this week i will ride urs to find the feel of petronasOriginally posted by felix.ragav View Post^ my dealer uses castrol. It is printed on the rectifier itself. some black painting on that aluminium rectifier. It will end with BA or CA. Yours will be BA but chances are there that you may have AA also as you have 9ah batteryRides: HH SPl (2000-2005) | TVS Vic GLX (2005-2010) | S GS150 R (Current)

hey buddy whats the update on dc conversion? Whats the price of the leds you bought? How much watts? The socket type of license plate bulb and pilots are same ie. w5w. Keep us posted about the conversion.Originally posted by felix.ragav View PostIm planning a Full DC conversion on the GS and have bought high intensity White LEDS for the Number plate Light. I'm on the look out for white LED pilots in chennai. Any heads up would be greatly appreciated!i dont think so. See I have the aa series rr unit and have not yet faced and battery charging issue till date. My bike is 7 months old. Also the new bikes with ca series rr unit has 7 ampere battery. As you said would the new rr unit will be able to charge the 9 ampere battery? I know the service centre guys would say ho jayega dont worry. But I am not so sure.Originally posted by akfara View PostHi bro I have AA RR unit with 9AH battery ,after 1.2 years my battery not charging properly ,I gave it for full charge ,but its not worked so changed my battery to 9AH exide BIKERZ..IS.All these due to RR AA series??????,If i change to CA series is it capable of charging 9AH battery...Pls ask this while u go for getting ur new CA RR unit
Thanxsare you facing any issues with the ba series? I guess you have a 9 ampere battery. If yes above question is to you too. RajOriginally posted by rajesh1136 View Posti need to change to CA soon my bike came with BA

Hey, fellow GSR bikers.
Today I spotted one more difference between the older GSRs and the the new GSR.
Though the difference seems basically cosmetic, but I do think that the exhaust has been redesigned............Suzuki website claims that its a new sporty exhaust design.
Here is a pic of my bike which is a new GSR and an older GSR from a media launch.
take a good note of their exhaust system or silencer pipes, heat shield positioning and types are different !!!Last edited by MACH50; 07-05-2010, 10:55 PM.Hell's Angel

Anup I agree with you,But the issue which I told them ( svc guys) was the headlamp brightness at low rpm.Even the pilot lamp flickers a lot during standby more over we can't turn the vehicle at optimum speed have to turn only by using low speed during that indicators are also seems to be getting low power) they said its due to the less charge in battery. After travelling long distance the issue is not there but for local short riding its there. As you used to drive long almost everyday the issue is not at all reflected on your GSIf the RR unit change is not apt then we need a diffrent fixMay be conversion to DC wil give better vision for GS but that ill violate our warrenty coverage.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

I would like to disagree to your point, firstly the images are not in the same angle. It seems like only the silencer cover is changed, the pipes and exhaust system seems ditto. The new one only have cover and no shield like the old one.Originally posted by MACH50 View PostToday I spotted one more difference between the older GSRs and the the new GSR.

From what I noticed above 2K rpm the headlight is steady and it flickers when the engine rpm goes below 2K mark. It never seemed like an issue of battery but the headlight power is the main issue. Headlight is powered directly from alternator rite, a portion of the the power is used to charge the battery after rectification and regulation by RR unit. So the efficiency of the battery charging depends on the RR unit but it wont affect head light efficiency rite. Even if we dont have battery we can run headlight rite? In full DC setup all the electrical's are run in DC which heavily depends on battery and RR unit.Originally posted by MSN1 View PostAnup I agree with you,But the issue which I told them ( svc guys) was the headlamp brightness at low rpm.Even the pilot lamp flickers a lot during standby more over we can't turn the vehicle at optimum speed have to turn only by using low speed during that indicators are also seems to be getting low power) they said its due to the less charge in battery. After traveling long distance the issue is not there but for local short riding its there. I always ride in dipper so that no one will have any trouble, but even if ask for a dipper majority wont mind to give a dipper(to them i always show f*** o**). I want to improve the focusing of headlamp, its OK to drive with current lightning of GS. But its the upper of oncoming vehicles that disturb me. So i want to equip myself with an upper that no one can ignore. I have started to save money for an HID.Last edited by Anupdas; 07-05-2010, 11:21 PM.Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........

@ Rajesh: What say we meet again this weekend. I can feel the difference with petronas and castrol, Castrol used to be good till 8K rpm, but after that the engine feels rough. Petronas on the other hand feels smoooothhhh
Gearshifts have that un explainable smoothness and ease that makes it a pleasure to ride.
@ basumataryraj: The LED are not on a holder or anything. Its a plain HIgh Intensity LED with a clear plastic housing. Im a DIY guy so Im planning to wire it up myself. Havent had a chance to take my bike to a Electricals mech so far. Last 2 saturdays have been quite busy. Dont worry bro, I'll document the whole thing and put it up here.
Im getting my hands on my HID tomo, so will post pics tomo or day after.
@ all: anyone had any idea about the GS's Coil system. is it 2 phase?
