  • Hi guys...
Its long since I have posted here... But I read the forum on a regular basis... Good to see many people buying the GS.... Congrads to all who did so...

I've just completed around 9700 kms on the ODO.... Bike is simply superb... Butter-O-butter... Engine is too good now and I presume that it'll become better by 20K kms on the odo.... I'm satisfied with the milleage of 46-48KMPL in insane city riding conditions.... Regarding the cons.... I hear a noise from the chain (definitely not because of loose chain) which is unusual.. Hearing it for the past week.... I just did not find time to check it... Its like the chain 'is scratching onto something' like sound which comes on definite frequency. Took it to service centre but still the prob exists... Will have to check it at the earliest... Anyone faced this prob ???

BTW good to see old timers like Shadowfax and thread owner Sam spaek out here... Hope you guys are doing good.

@ 133Kmph :- guys I doubt if this could have happpened. The max speed recorded here in this forum is around 117 to 120 Kmph (To the best of my knowledge) Now was there any change done to the engine ?? Just curious to know ?? I am not able to watch the video here in office.. Will watch it once I get back home

Thnx a lot to Xbhp and its members to help me decide my first byk (my family and bro were against it) .. what kept me sticking was the regular updates and reviews of you bikers !! thanx a lot again ...
      Congrats on your purchase buddy.

Does your GS have the new stickering ?
Why did you let the dealer put that sticker right in the front wheel? If possible remove it

Already 600 Km? The SC guys will be astonished to see you come in for first service within 2 weeks. Happy riding.

Can't say whether it can really reach 133, but yes, it can cruise easily in 80-100 at it has in my Rajasthan trip.

Some of us might have already seen it.... Saw the new stickers, seems Suzuki is going HH way. It won't be much surprising if they put red alloys in the next change...
Anyone who has ridden the GS above 112Km/h will know how the acceleration drops beyond that speed. According to the video there is still ample acceleration after 120km\h. That is impossible with a stock GS on any road even if its a slope. Serious mods will have to be done to achieve this. Moreover if you look at the reflection on the console, it immideately gives away that the bike is not moving. On any road there will be streetlights or trees unless you are in a desert. This video has been taken with the bike on the centerstand and accelerated freely in 6th gear.

But cruzing at around 100, it can very well do.

With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.

yup the acceleration from 110 onwards is way too much ,something like rtr180. but the speedo sensor is on the front wheel if someones accelerates it on centrestand it should show 0kmph only .

            • Why the power mode is not getting "on" in the acceleration in the video? As whosoever has done that, must be revving the nuts off the bike.

The speedo on the GS is not on the front wheel, its on the front sprocket. Putting the bike in Center stand and reving it gets the speedo running on the GS.

                  Front sprocket?

What does that mean..Never knew such system existed!!

                  • ^^ that's true. The GS counts its speed NOT from the front wheel and it shows speed if you revv the bike on center stand and in gear.

That bike was definitely accelerating too fast. Good point Blitz.

If you notice the shadow in the speedo console, the guy is holding the camera/mobile with both hands and the building behind him is constant. This is a dupe video.

Put "Front sprocket" on to google and search. You'll know what it is instantly.

The modes has nothing to do with the speed. The only difference b/w the modes is that, a white light (at the left side, not visible in the video) will start to blink at different RPMs for different modes. The performance remains the same in all modes.

I am also from bangalore. I am very much satisfied with my GS except for the headlight and the brakes.

You said you were zooming at around 70-80 kmph at 11pm... is ur headlight that bright ?

Kindly suggest me what needs to be done to get good lighting from the GS headlamp...

                          Thanks.
well yes i got my rectifier/regulator replaced to xxxxxBA series. Not sure if it increased the headlight but something is better than nothing and that too for free .

I think a brighter headlamp would help but its not that bad, probably we need to compare different side-by-side in total dark road to comment. wats do you say guys?

I think you are right. Also you could see the console vibrating just when the bike reaches it's peak rpm.

Actually I did't know it either until I opened up the sproket cover to check for any dirt when I could hear some grindin sound from the sprocket. I found the speedo sensor right on top of it. Some gravel was stuck making the sound.

I saw your video on youtube. Cool! How did you position your camera. I tried many times but could't get the camera to face the speedo constantly. the wind would push it away.

Dude are you using the helmet holders provided under the seat ???

I found it very inconvenient, and also, the helmet rubs on the bikes side a lot, and I don't like my helmet sticking out on the side. It is certainly bound to be hit by a closely parked bike or anyone walking by, which will rub the helmet more against the bike.
those helmet holders are meant for parking lots abroad where you have clearly marked borders for each motorcycle which usually even accommodates a big motorcycle with panniers. Here the bikes are almost touching each other when you park!
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.
