can anyone clarify this? If it needs to be changed necessarily, then will have it done when I get my new tank.

i guess its not needed, but if you will ride more than 1000km before 3rd service then u may need to change before 3rd service.
just make sure the oil level is fine to be on the safe side.
i dont know how the quality of oil can be checked, someone else may be able to help out with that

I don't think so. The more you accelarate, more fuel gets consumed!
3-4K RPM is the ideal shift for that kind of a machine IMO.

Suzuki Access scooters are a big hit in the market, so suzuki service centres will stay for them atleast. So i guess there wont be spare parts problem for GS...

              Hey buddy!!!
The rust issue is a overhyped one...
Few bikes had the problem and i suppose most of them r from costal areas..
Some people over react to the situation too...
Its our duty to keep the bike clean n good
I marketing tactics lying acting, pretending etc etc are part of the game....
Don't go by the salesman's opinion, just listen to what ur heart beat says..
If u like the bike go for it...

ABT suzuki returned my bike on friday after service. They confirmed that they have sought a replacement tank, and expect the same to come in the next 15days. So hopefully that is that on the rusting part. Also, I rechecked the bike after the wash, and was relieved to see no rust anywhere else. So, hope the new petrol tank solves my problem.

My views on the issue as follows.. As long as the company/dealer recognises that the paint/rust is a genuine issue and tries to resolve the same without customers like me having to waste time and effort in getting them to act on the same, I am satisfied. The SC didnot give any silly excuse for the problem/ pass the buck on to my usage pattern, nor did they try to patch the tank up/apply anti rust etc. They simply agreed to have the tank replaced without my having to argue/raise my voice. My inference is that Suzuki is happy to replace the tank in case of any issues. period. So, I have no complaints with their handling of the issue at least. As to the reason for the problem - thats a separate issue in itself...

The quality issues notwithstanding, the bike is really a treat to drive on the highway. My trip to Pondy (350kms return trip) during the weekend went off really well, aided by great weather. Feedback as below on the bike:

Ride quality: Excellent for both driver and pillion
Ergonomics: spot on - me and wife both have no major aches to report after the trip.
Cruising ability: Great. One can maintain a cruising speed of 70-80kph (5000-6000 rpm in 6th gear) on the highway in a stress free manner. The bike gives a rock solid feel and is not affected by cross-winds even at speeds of 80-85kph.
Noise/Vibrations: Really low, and a key reason for the bike being great for long distances.
Power: sufficient to easily overtake other slower moving vehicles, trucks/buses.
Brakes: Adequate. Have now got into the habit of mostly using front discs, and support the same thru the rear drums. Performed well during a couple of emergency stops on the highway. Front disc very light to operate, and very progressive in feel, and so no aches in right hand even after prolonged driving.
Max speed touched: 100kph. even at this speed vibes are little, and engine is clearly capable of more. but wind is the main issue.

So, quality issues nothwithstanding, the bike remains a fantastic drive .

                Cheers!
                Srinivas
Nice to meet u to pal...
Yeah, me understood ur situation that day
Hope ur tank issue gets solved soon...

                • Hey guys, I booked my GS. Black color. I got it from a recent batch. Suzuki has applied antirust on the front shocks where rust was spotted on Vishal's(imjoshee) bike. many other parts like the silencer bolts etc all look good with some coating on it. Delivery will be as soon as the cheque clears the dealer said. suzuki does seem to take the GS seriously.
With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.

Congrats on the onsite assignment! Don't worry, the bike will go nowhere. When you return, you can get the 2010 model of GS.
I also had the same situation-I had booked my R15&would have been the 1st one to get it here, but was in Japan then-I was counting down the days to come back&grab it!
