Transition is pretty simple buddy, its not like moving from a normal bike to a superbike!
Take it slow&steady&don't get influenced by the vast difference in power is all I can advise. Rest is fine-within a month you will feel like you are riding a geared bike since ages!
    Quench my thirst with gasoline!

If you don't ride properly there can be issues. Mainly don't lug the engine and handle the clutch properly.
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

            • Hi,
              I was wondering..
would the bike's mileage be better if i try and keep the engine rpm at 4-5k instead of trying to keep it between 3-4k in all gears ???

Sad to report that me also facing issues with the petrol tank on my GS (blue green). A paint bubble ring has formed outside the petrol tank mouth. Upon touching/ light rubbing by fingers, the paint starts coming out in flakes from those areas. My 2nd service was due (abt 2500k on ODO done), so have given the bike yesterday to ABT nandanam chennai, and reported the problem.
have you ever spilt petrol on the paint surface ??
even if it was when you filled petrol or anything ?
did your bike have teflon coating ?
the manual says spilled petrol can spoil the paint. that might be a reason.
anyway, its good you are getting a new tank.

Good news is that the SC have indicated that tank can be changed since it is within the warranty. Will go and meet them today evening to pick up the bike, and get the exact picture. They said they will send the photo to suzuki and get approval for the same.

more updates by monday on this.

Otherwise, driving the bike has been very enjoyable. The bike is especially at home on highways, where it cruses effortlessly at 75-80kph, and is unaffected by cross-winds at high speeds. It literally begs to be taken for touring . Me and my wife planning a pondy trip on the bike this weekend..

                    Srini

                    Hey Srini!!!
I think I saw u at the ABT service station when u were looking inside ur tank..
We saw each other but failed to introduce... Mine was the Black GS which was next 2 ur one down there.
I knew u were an xbhpean when u ware gazing inside the tank

Anyway, i feel ABT is getting worser in service since Mr. Kalyan left...
My bike was not attended till the next day, instead they told it will be ready on monday only..
They don't have any courtesy and respect for customer...
Only Mr. Ram Kumar is customer friendly out there.
Then i had to take back my bike at-last.
SMK guys r more responsible and caring...

                      ..
It's kinda funny how obsessive xbhpeans have become with GSR fuel tank rust! I hope the zuki guys also share some of that concern, so that in future none of us has to peep into dark holes to look for minute specks of rust!!

Yeah, I was telling the same to Mr Vinod Natrajan (Service head of south India)...
He said very few bikes had that issue and were from costal areas...
He added that this issue created a negative hype among people..
To me i felt that Suzuki is very confident about this bike at the same time i see very few bikes on road.

With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.

                          • I was / am planning to buy a 150CC for 2 months now & I shortlisted 2 - GS150 or Unicorn.. Initially I was leaning more towards GS150R.. But then all the rust issues caught my eyes.. I was shocked to hear it getting rusted in multiple places apart from fuel tank... I also checked with a dealer in Chennai & he said that the suzuki folks heard the issue & changed the vendor or something & hence the new bikes should not have that issue any more... But no way I am trusting the words of dealers who disconnect the speedometer & give a new bike to test drive & also sell the same bike to someone... I also contacted a local mechanic & he said parts availability might be a major issue in suzuki bikes... So I have decided to go for Unicorn.... But the recent strike in Honda factory & announcement by Honda folks to move the plant out of Gurguan makes me think twice about Unicorn too... I guess I am going to finally drop off the plan to buy a new one & use my father's Boxer

                            • actually you can be pretty sure that the bike you buy would have been ripped(atleast a little) by the SC guys while they were taking it from godown to SC, SC to showroom etc etc.
and there is really nothing much you can do about it either
if u tell the showroom ppl they'll obvoiusly say, nothing like this happens with our showroom bla bla bla.

but, generally the SC ppl take it for short rides, so engine doesnt get overheated, and chances of engine getting spoilt are pretty less.

Suzuki makes sure of that.
One correction, it is TVS that makes sure of that. Suzuki has nothing to do with Fiero now.
