Re: Help please!
You said it yourself. These bikes are rare to spot. The percentage of the people you do spot buy the bikes for the "good looks" and the speedy rides is far greater the people who buy it for daily commuting. For commuting, regular 100-150cc bikes do the job required.Originally posted by punarvasu View PostI don’t know how correct you are and, in the two wheeler world, who imitates whom. Inazuma is already on roads in many countries and not a product specially made for India. Now please let me know how much of the “good looking” 150 – 250 cc ‘sports bikes’ do you see dashing on our roads, even in cities like Chennai, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi etc? I have gone through the first four cities recently and for me, these bikes were rare.
...... it is a commuter bike.
As you stated, each of these bikes is built for a specific purpose. Ninja is built for track usage, Duke is as a stunt/street bike and Inazuma in your own words is a commuter. But how many commuters are really prepared to pay more than a lakh rupees for a bike which isnt very economical to run. The speed rating is not the matter i am commenting about, its about the purpose. Ninja is aerodynamic for the speeds it will be ridden in during track usage. Duke is light weight for the stunt usage. Inazuma is a naked/commuter bike which could go fast but will not be very comfortable for the rider.Originally posted by punarvasu View PostNow about the speed. It really is a plus point if the bike continues to produce power up to a higher rpm but on which road are we to ride on a bike at Ninja’s 140 kmh speed at 11000 rpm if we are not drag racers?
And the speed: Inazuma reaches 117 kmh, Ninja 250 reaches 111 kmh and Duke 106 kmh at 8500 rpm, theoretically.
Originally posted by punarvasu View PostNow itself we have decided that Inazuma will be a flop here. But let those actually plan to buy a higher cc commuter bike wait and see what really happens.
I did not say it was going to be a flop. I said it will not be a hit. The range between these 2 is wide and this bike can end up being another dark horse in the suzuki stable. It would not be doing any good for the company to make good bikes that nobody buys.
Unlike reality, there is nothing to hold you back in your dreams.Originally posted by punarvasu View PostBut, as usual, even those who don’t dream about buying it are hurriedly queuing to comment about its appearance.

Just look in the what bike section for the number of people looking to buy these 200cc+ bikes.Last edited by vikhyath; 07-27-2013, 11:51 PM.In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

Re: Help please!
Service update for my bike.
3rd Service was completed at Aryan Suzuki (Whitefield) on 26.7.2013
Kms completed -- ~3000
Charges for service -- Rs. 388 (including oil and oil filter)
Observations during service
1. Squealing noise from the disc break
2. Break binding (front wheel)
3. Clutch and gear shift is tight.
4. Wobbling issue (perennial)
4. Headlamp focus adjustment
Note: The service supervisor was very impatient. I had to make a sarcastic remark (Are you not bothered if the customer is facing any problem with the bike) to make him note down the above list.
The bike was not ready at the promised time of 4 PM and I had told them I wouldn't come until 7 PM due to meetings. At 6:45, I called to inform I was just nearing the SVC center and a rude mechanic on the other side responds, you may come but we are closed for the day. Are they not taught the definition of service before deploying them on service roles.
A known sales person had kept the bike in his custody and gave me the bike after billing but no one knows what was done with the bike.
Observations after service:
1. The bike sounds smoother and engine feels better.
2. The front break squealing noise has disappeared.
3. The headlamp now focuses on the mudguard and wheels
(the highbeam feels like low beam) -- had a horrible time driving on highway last evening.
4. Clutch operation is smoother but the gear shift is as hard as it was before service
5. Wobbling remains the same.
6. Yet to check the brake binding.
Need clarification from members:
1. The manual says that when changing oil filter, we need to fill in 1.1 litres of oil however i was surprised that the bill had only mention of 1 litre of oil. When confronted, no one knew about this. I have to go back and check. Has anyone else had a similar experience. Do they actually fill in 1.1 litres. Is it advisable to do the oil change ourselves.
2. I wanted to adjust the headlamp throw this morning. I found the screw to adjust the focus behind the headlamp but also realised that it is not possible to do it without removing the visor due to restricted access. Are there any special tools with an angled head that would help us reach and adjust this screw.Regards,
Venky

Re: Help please!
It is suitable for our bike and I am using it from the first month of my bike. As the RR cannot supply the 60 watts current it needs, the light will be slightly better but not sufficient. Try to convert the bike to full DC as some of us did and fit a 55/60 watts Osram NB or Philips X-treme vision.Originally posted by sanjukoli12 View PostIs this bulb a proper fit to our gs
Our engine is air cooled and any covering hindering the free air flow causes excessive engine heating. So, avoid any such guards preventing free air flow.Originally posted by NIKT View PostHi has any one installed a mud guard for the Engine Bay. The stock bulb itself is 35/35 watts Philips Germany!Originally posted by cvj View PostPlease buy Unicorn Headlight Bulb from Honda dealer which is 35/35 w its Philip Germany and cost is Rs 270/-
First of all, forget the squealing sound from the brake which is normal and usual in disc brakes. Disc brake adjusts itself and so do not try to ‘loosen’ it by letting in air in the brake hose. If the brake is not effectively binding, do a proper brake bleeding.Originally posted by venkan12 View PostService update for my bike.
Our bike needs 1 litre oil if the oil filter is not replaced and 1.1 litres if it is replaced. The oil filter lasts for 8,000 kms and replacing it in third service is not mandatory. So, I hope, it was not replaced and that 1 litre of oil is enough.
Keep the bike vertical when the engine is cold and check the oil level at the window for it. It should be between the tick marks for minimum and maximum level. If the level is below minimum mark, add a 50 ml of oil, check again and add more if necessary without over filling.
You can easily adjust the headlight with the Phillips screw driver in the tool kit through the “D” shaped hole under the headlight assembly. Turn the screw driver clockwise to raise the beam and vice versa to lower it. Here you can see how it is done properly.
Try to do the routine maintenance works such as oil and oil filter replacing, rear brake adjusting, brake bleeding, chain lubricating, washing, waxing, air filter cleaning and replacing, chain slackness adjusting, battery checking, clutch or accelerator cable replacing etc. If a mechanic can do these, you too can.

Re: Help please!
I asked the SVC guys for one. I insisted that they provide me one even if I had to pay extra for it but they said there are no compatible engine guards available in the market. I haven't noticed an engine guard in any of the GSs that I have seen till today.Originally posted by NIKT View PostHi has any one installed a mud guard for the Engine Bay. Re: Help please!
Punarvasu sir, thank you for the elaborate pictorial representation. I was trying to adjust this from near the petrol tank by tilting the steering column to one side. I will try this and provide feedback. Also the same regarding the oil level.Originally posted by punarvasu View Post

These guys had changed the oil filter and I was charged Rs.37 for it. That is why I questioned why they did not fill 1.1 liters. I will check the oil level and also ask them at the SVC.
Regarding the brake noise, I had it for almost a month now and it was getting louder with no signs of improvement. BTW, that issue seems to be resolved by the SVC guys. How would we know if the brake has been loosened.Regards,

Touring in my GS150 R ...
Its only now, after 8 months of my bikes purchase, I had a long drive in my bike. The max distance i had gone ever in this bike was around 60 kms a day. But now, things have changed.
My last two weekends were just superb...
3rd weekend of july (20-7-13) : Went to Nandi Hills & Skandagri.
Total distance travelled on date.............: approx 210 kms.
Petrol Filled............................................ .: 300 rs (HP)
Fuel in tank before filling in petrol...........: 4 liters
Fuel remaining in tank end of the day....: in reserve , didnt started to blink. So approx 1.5 ltrs+
Max Speed Attained................................: 107
Avg Speed maintained............................: 60-80
Mileage........................................... ........: probably 40+ (maybe due to high ranges and non-eco speed ranges)
4th weekend of july (27-7-13) : Went to Hogenakkal.
Total distance travelled on date.............: approx 280 kms.
Petrol Filled............................................ .: 300 rs (SHELL)
Fuel in tank before filling in petrol...........: 4 liters
Fuel remaining in tank end of the day....: in reserve , started blinking. So less than 1.5 ltrs
Max Speed Attained................................: 115
Avg Speed maintained............................: 80-90
Mileage........................................... ........: probably 40+ (maybe due to higher speed ranges)
GS, its just an amazing machine..

accompanied bike/car,
To Nandi Hills : Santro Xing
To Hogenekkal : Passion Pro
will post more details after mysore trip ...
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Hi All,
need some help here ...this is not in the right section for this query, but any help would be really great.
we are planning to have a trip to mysore this weekend. Planning to leave bangalore on friday evening and to reach mysore same day around 9 - 10 PM. Would be staying there till sunday and want to come back sunday evening around 8-9-10 PM
can anyone who has gone to mysore before suggest a proper plan for visiting the places in a sequence with min distances ? like it will be huge wastage of time + petrol + money if we are going without a plan and chances are there for missing places as well.
Also, we would like to go to coorg from mysore (If possible, as a one day trip) . same kind of plannning will be very much useful for that too..
can someone help me on this.. or pls suggest, in which section shud i post my query in?
note : we are planning to go in bikes

Re: Help please!
Hi guys,
My bikes been a month and half old.I seem to have seen now that at the time of first servicing the SVC has written down "No oil "( is it that oil hasn't been changed ??) maybe because it was just 300km on the odo at 1st servicing but now that 2nd servicing is 90 days ie 45 more and I have already clocked 750 km do i continue with the same oil and wait till 90 days(3500 Kms cannot be achieved in this short period) or go in for a pre-servicing ??? Probable I would cover around 750km more ie @1600 at the end of 90 days.
Also wanted to ask when does the mileage settle down(by kms or servicings ) as I am getting around 43kmpl (and the poll is showing contrasting results o.O) for first 700kms or am I doing something wrong ? Bike has never crossed 60kmph and 5k rpm barrier ridden mostly between 2.5k to 4.5k rpm..

Re: Help please!
I guess they didnt change he oil since you have clocked very less. At 1000km,dont go for preservicing. Change the oil and filter by yourself or take it to svc and ask them to do. I mean just ask them to change oil and filter. Not service. They may cost you few bucks as labour but if you are smart enough, you can tell the reason you mentioned and get it done for free ( I mean only the labour, you got to pay for oil and filter)Originally posted by chinmay. Dont worry abt the mileage until at least he 3rd service. Mileage and engine smoohness will improve gradually.

Re: Help please!
My bike has a engine guard which was given as a compliment when i demanded by my dealer, ya its rare to spot a GS with an engine guard.Originally posted by venkan12 View PostI asked the SVC guys for one. If anyone knows about an option, please do let me know also. I would like to have one installed.
It has few advantages and disadvantages.
Disadvantages:
1) Adds to the weight of the bike
2) very difficult to drain oil, oil falls over the guard and gets spilled everywhere
3) Its mounted directly fixed to the place where engine is mounted on to chassis, inproper tightening may lead to resonance vibration(not in my GS)
Advantages:
1)Bike looks good from the side view
2)protects engine from getting dirty to an extent
3)prevented a sure shot fall when i hit a cat at over 60 kmph, guard took all impact and prevented it from going under rear wheels , unfortunately cat did not survive, now my guard is bent and needs some hammering.
