Lol, same oil here and it has done about 860kms too, but been revving lately.Originally posted by nikhil.krishnan View Postusing shell Advance AX7 4T ; 10W40. Semi Synthetic.
around 800 - 1000 kms done since i changed it last time.
Do you toe-shift or heal-shift?
When you're on empty road next time try this, in 2nd/3rd gear slowly raise RPM from 3k to 7k couple of times.
Just shooting blindly(beating around the bush), no pun intended though.
I remember @gmagesh14 adjusting the GS handle bar towards him and another post contemplating on handle bars that are direct fit on GS; that's it.
If you want to look different on GS, may I suggest not to alter any design but to repaint & sticker it up as you wish.
However, for mods you can cast a wider net in:

Hey SriKi.GSpian I have not seen a clip on handle bar on the GS, but I have seen many different fixed handle bar styles. I myself had the handle bar widened for more comfort. It can be done in any tinkering/automobile engineering shop.KM

@KIRTIMANNAN
How'z your Joel'd GS150R? Anything you would like to share?
And you're the one who was looking at other Handle options, and was keen about Clip-Ons.Last edited by SparKot; 02-03-2014, 04:37 PM.There is no honest path to prosperity - KoKa

venky , For better mileage, now a days I am running more on top gears keeping the speed 60-65 in eco mode, no frequent gear shifts, no quick braking / accelerating (thanks to punarvasu).
earlier i used to get mileage around 45 .. and now am getting 50+ .
and did you buy new headlamp bulb for your GS ?

Re: Suzuki GS150R
What is the acceptable frequency of oil change for shell ax7 semi synth 10 w 40 oil.
I have run roughly 2700 kms on it but it has been abot 4 or 5 months since I changed it.

One of the other parameters is my weight. I weigh roughly around 105 kilos whereas I was about 65 when I first bought my 100 cc.
No, I havent bought the bulb yet. I couldnt go on to jc road last weekend.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
There's no as such acceptable frequency; rather trade-offs. If you take 3000kms run AX7 SS to a local mech, he might say there's still some juice left in it. Manual says every 4000kms. But once the oil darkens, you can't examine oil quality by a mere look through the inspection window. Hence the tendency to change it before permissible limit and feel safe.Originally posted by venkan12 View PostWhat is the acceptable frequency of oil change for shell ax7 semi synth 10 w 40 oil.

Shelf life of Engine oils is usually higher but once in the engine, it's left to engine from there on & how you ride it.
Guess what, once I used an oil filter to filter replaced(used) oil to see if it makes any difference. Nothing, there was no change.
That's said, frequency is between 2500-3000 kms. Don't worry if you cross 3000, but make sure oil level in permissible range. There is no honest path to prosperity - KoKa

Re: Suzuki GS150R
Thanks that is quiye useful. I never seem to get my head around checking engine oil life. They all seem to be of the same consistency and they all smell burnt.Originally posted by SparKot View PostThere's no as such acceptable frequency; rather trade-offs. I am always on the safer side, replacing in abt 2000 to 2500 km pn the bike
