Just for example RPM of GS at 60KMH is 4100 with 6th gear & at the same same speed what is RPM of trigger, uni or pulsar in 5th gear ?
    P180 does 59kmph@4000rpm
    P220 does 63kmph@4000rpm

      I only looked up on Exide & Amaron & so: Maintenance Free options

      Amaron Pro Bike Rider MF : ABR-PR-12APBTX90 - 9Ah
      Exide Xtreme MF : 12XT7B-B - 7Ah

      Where did you read about it? Can you point out the source to the forum?

      The change we've seen are:
      - change in 1st & 2nd gear ratios
      - one tooth increase in rear sprocket, 42t(present); 41t(earlier)

      This is only to suggest top speed being sacrificed for acceleration.

      I'm on 42t rear sprocket for that last 3k kms but with 2010 gear ratios. I can't tell how much difference it makes to acceleration as my riding style has changed a lot.

      I see RPM needle fluctuating below 3k RPM implying the need for a carb-cleanup. Ride on a plane road feels bumpy under 3k RPM.

      anyways
      cheers

      • Re: Suzuki GS150R

        After a lot of thought, test rides, comparisons, online reviews, ownership experiences in xbhp, etc I bought a GS150R last week. Here comes my experience on selecting my GS150R.

        All I wanted was a comfortable 150CC bike to commute to office (around 66km roundtrip). My RX135 is still going strong but I wanted a more comfortable bike.

        I wanted to buy a Suzuki Gixxer but it will be for sales only from July or August. I needed a bike immediately so looked at the current set of bikes available.
        Apache and Pulsar ruled out since I had ridden my friends' bikes extensively and found them to be uncomfortable for long commutes.
        Hunk and CBZ extreme ruled out since I already had a Hunk and did not feel comfortable due to the chassis design.
        Honda Trigger was ruled out since I personally did not like the looks (sorry Trigger owners).
        Yamaha SZ was ruled out since I had ridden my brother's bike and felt that the engine was not as refined as the FZ (though it is acclaimed that SZ has a de-tuned FZ engine) and the gearbox was not so smooth.
        Unicorn is a comfortable bike with a refined engine and good mileage but it looks outdated. So it was ruled out.
        Shortlisted GS150R and FZ based on ride comfort (upright seating position) and suspension.

        FZ is shorter and lighter thus suiting my physique (I am 5'5'' with average build). But the riding position is slightly sporty which made me think it's role as a daily commuter for 66 kms. The suspension is also slightly stiffer, which is good for cornering and spirited riding but it doesn't suit my requirement of a plush and pliant ride.
        GS150R is slightly heavier and taller than FZ but the riding position was similar to that of Unicorn (upright). The suspension was just great. The ride was pliant and comfortable.

        I agree that FZ and GS are poles apart and comparing both would not do justice.
        FZ is sharper to handle and sporty. GS has a more mature ride.
        FZ's seat is bit hard. GS's seat is softer.
        FZ is stylish to look at. GS is slightly commuterish to look at (but better than Unicorn).
        FZ has poor fuel efficiency. GS has very good fuel efficiency.

        FZ or GS? .... FZ or GS? .... FZ or GS????? God, this is confusing.

        The GS ticked most of the boxes for me but, the only reason I was still considering FZ is that GS is a tad heavier and taller for my physique. I did not want to end up having a back pain trying to manage a heavier GS.

        Test rode FZ and GS back to back multiple times. Of course, I understand that a short test ride alone would not do justice in selecting a vehicle over another, but I had no other choice. None of my friends had a GS so I wasn't able to ask them. Read reviews and ownership experiences online (including xbhp) and found that everyone was praising their own beauties.

        So, it was time when I had to make a decision based on my perception of the bikes and my priorities. My priority was ride comfort and GS fared better than FZ in this department. The main reason why I wanted to upgrade my bike is for comfort and I didn't want to compromise on that. So, chose GS over FZ. Nevertheless, it was a close call.

        It has been over a week since I got my new ride and I am enjoying it.
        Completed around 400 kms in one week. The gear shift is not as smooth as it was in the test ride bike. I think it will become smoother after the first service. The ride is plush and pliant and I am very happy about it. Yet to check the mileage, so I cannot comment on it. The pickup is sufficient enough. The instrument console, as praised by everybody, is beautiful to look at.
        Overall, it's a complete package fulfilling my requirements to the maximum when compared to the other competing 150cc bikes.

          GS can pick from 27 kmph in 6th gear without any issues. the only thing is you have to give the accelerator little bit slowly , properly releasing the clutch. the engine wont make that " thud thud "sound ! !

              The Fuel efficiency is very good, apart from the other points you mentioned

              I must warn you though that for me it took almost a year for the gear shift to become smooth

                    I have replaced my GS150R battery with Amaron 9AH (mine is the first batch GS with 9AH battery). It has 4 years warranty. I recommend the same.

                      HI animeher,
                      Hi SparKot

                      Thanks to both of you for suggestions.
                      Both of you suggested follwoing options
                      * Amaron Pro Bike Rider MF : ABR-PR-12APBTX90 - 9Ah
                      * Exide Xtreme MF : 12XT7B-B - 7Ah
                      * Exide Xtreme MF : 12XT9-B - 9Ah

                      My GS150R is 2010 Feb Batch and the battery provided with new Bike is Exide Freedom OEM and it's 7AH. I have tried to replace existing battery with 9AH battery but the space provided and screw fitting inside battery compartment is ideally suitable for 7AH battery only. Although 9AH is the bets bet, due to space constraints I had to go with EXIDE 12XT7B-B - 7Ah Xtreemseries battery (12 / 2013 batch), 36 month warranty (24 month replacement, 12 Month Prorate) maintainable free for around Rs.1380 . I hope Exide would be same as AMRON ProBikker series quality

                      Based on the feedback from xBHP forum, AMRON is better than Exide but shop guy told me that EXIDE is better (Shop does have both Exide and Amron stock)

                          Hunk feels nose-heavy. So, I felt most of the weight on the front of the bike rather than the weight being spread evenly over the length of the bike. So, I did not feel comfortable to maneuver Hunk in city traffic (you might have known the traffic condition in Chennai during peak hours in the areas where metro work was going on).

                          Although taller people might not feel uncomfortable, shorter guys OTOH, would find it tough to manage such a bike in city traffic. Unicorn and GS trumps the card in this department. Though they are equally heavy as a Hunk or Xtreme, the uniform spread of the weight make them better maneuverable machines.

                          P.S. I had done weekend trips in my Hunk and found it to be comfortable. It is only the stop-start traffic that made it a bit tough for me to manage.

                            Agree to your point that Hunk is nose-heavy, but I don't think Unicorn would be better as both these bikes have similar chassis(Unicorn has mono shock though).
                            But unlike Unicorn/GS, Hunk has rear set foot pegs and slightly lean-forward stting posture, that might also be adding in giving nose-heavy feel.
                            But I have ridden FZ for sometime in traffic and felt like that the front end is very light and it was easy o manage it in traffic compared to Hunk.

                                You are right. FZ has a lighter front end and it is easier to ride it in traffic comparatively. But FZ's slightly tipped forward stance (as far as the riding posture is concerned) combined with slightly firmer suspensions made me choose GS over FZ. Nevertheless, FZ is a fun to ride motorcycle.

                                Moreover, the mileage factor of FZ is another area of concern. My GS gives around 60kmpl if ridden at the range of 4-4.5K RPM. I will give the bike for first service next week and then check for the mileage again.
