When I turn the handle to my right, the locking is fine.
    @ RajendraNath,

Even my bike does the same. Cannot lock the bike when the handle bar is positioned to the extreme left.
Have to turn it a little to right to lock it.
This is because of location of the hole punched near the cone set. This is not an issue. Get used to it.
If it bothers much, you have to "File (tool)" the hole a little sideways so that the bike can be locked to the extreme left.

    @ all

One more related problem I face with the locking is that the lock set seems to come off very often. There are 2 screws which have to be tightened from below (around 250 Kms of ride makes the screws loose).
Finding a Star head screw driver with with matching size and length will be an headache.

Any metal paste available to make sure the screw never falls ?

I was so idiotic in the first few tries that I removed the entire cowl and headlight to tighten these two screws.

    @ ashwanth,

What browser do you suggest ? Currently changed from Vista to Win 7.

Ooh, is it. I think I cannot get used to it as quickly as I wanted. So, I would rather try to fix it.
Anyway, thanks for the info. Glad to hear that I'm not alone with this strange issue.

When I turn the key to ignition-ON on my bike, I can see that the key is aligned to a little right, rather then being straight. So, it means that the lock set is not positioned properly (it is positioned to a little right).
Our handlebar can be locked either by nearly turning it all the way to right or left (Manual mentions only left). And the lock is by default offset a little bit, i.e. you cannot lock it when the handlebar is 100% right/left. The system needs attention if you have to force the lock in place or it locks with a "khatak khatak" type of feel. This picture will answer your other doubt. You will get used to this - just gently rock the handle bar for locking. Unlocking is straight forward.

BTW, what are those plasticky things (green arrow) holding the cables called? I need to buy a couple of them.

Mine loosened once - had to get it tightened at SC because the screws are Torx if am not wrong - Not the usual Phillips star. By metal paste, you mean something like Loclite?

Firefox works well in my Win8. I too used IE for a long time on my Win8. Haven't tried Chrome as it ate disk space on my XP. Never tried Vista/Win7 in my life!

Not sure of the paste name.
Yes it is not the regular Star head screws. It was something different.

I am not much aware of these tools Ashwanth.

Wanted to ask you this - Did you use Kerosene or Diesel for cleaning the parts during DIY?

If Kerosene, is it (still) easily available in our Singara Chennai?

I remember buying it from a local street shop in chennai, where there were lot of people staying nearby who uses kerosene for cooking....
I can say, it is easily available in Chennai, but the prices have sky rocketed...

I use Kerosene and Diesel for cleaning and also for spraying on the bike (Use the sprayer which you see in Hair cutting shops. Costs only 30-50 Rs) to keep it without much rusting.

It is a dust magnet but still I find all the time in the world to wipe my bike on a daily basis.

Sorry If Ashwanth and I are going off the topics..

I remember Ration shops provide 3 Litres kerosene / Month to families who hold only 1 cylinder.
My neighbours sell the Kerosene for double the prices. Well they seem to have a ration card for each member in the family so do not require kerosene.

                          There are two variants though.
One they say is permanent n other one is not .

Kerosene is good, but Diesel will reduce your braking efficiency dangerously if went into the front disc brakes.
I crashed my bike after cleaning it with diesel one and half year before. So it is better to avoid Diesel for cleaning.

Kerosene is also equally dangerous when you spray them by mistake on your disks.

I have experienced it in my R15 an year back when I sprayed in front and rear disks. I was riding almost without breaks. Lucky Me. I was not comfortable with the sporty position which made me to ride below 40Kmph.

Issue was fixed olnly after a pressure wash. I should have mentioned it earlier when I told about spraying Kerosene/Diesel. Thanks for the Note dude.
