I don't find kerosine reducing braking power in my bike, even after using it for 2.5 years for cleaning. And in case of Diesel you might even have to replace your brake pads to regain braking power because the pad absorbs the fluid and every time you press brake lever the absorbed liquid comes out. Anyway way good to hear you are safe and sound which wasn't in my case.

Completed 99,000 KMS yesterday. Giving it for service in first week of February. Rear Tyre has covered 50,000 KMS which I am planning to change. Are there any good tyre available other than MRF and the cost please

        Great numbers.

Honda recommends Dunlop Geo-cruiser next to MRF Zapper in their Unicorn bikes. It is the same specification to GS as well.

I do not know much about other tires. You have many options. I remember Punarvasu recently changed his Front to MRF (not similar to stock). He might have did some research.

I would recommend you to source a MRF Tuff-up tube which comes in Unicorn. I checked with 2 MRF showrooms and they told that it would be available only with the bikes and that I may source from Honda Showrooms.

Will try your suggestion - it will work .

I was seeing this video in youtube - the guy sprayed WD-40 (which is similar to Kerosene?) all over while washing the bike. So do you spray it with Kerosene and wash all the Kerosene off or let it stay?

If we let it stay, our GS will smell like an Ambassador car .

Everytime I took delivery after a service at JAV, my bike will be "polished" with a oily, milk-like liquid. It ensured 0% braking power at the front - Fortunately that thing went away after a good soap+water rinse combo. Will stay away from diesel.

BTW, did you fix the forks (the exposed copper thing problem)?

You have/had a R15? Your signature doesn't mention it. I find the sporty position uncomfortable too!

I have to change the bushes now and those parts need to be ordered separately. Removing shock absorber is different for newer GS and older ones, for newer ones you could take the inner tube out, but for older ones if you take inner tube, you probably will have to replace the bushes too. I never knew that. So i am in trouble now.

Sure pictures will follow after grand old lady servicing and rear tyre replacement. Should happen in the coming week.

Dear brethren, booked gs150r on 03-01-2014 and refused to take delivery as the bike was very old bike. so requested the dealer to get a newer bike. Booked it again on 14-01-2014. now eagerly waiting for it to be delivered on 24-01-2014. loved the recent white color.

                  fingers crossed.

                    Hello All,

I started to hear a click click sound of short intervals from the engine(it is the same sound which we would have heard when we switch off the engine). this was not there all these days. This sound is not heard always but only during lower RPMS or once de-accelerated.
it started after i recently changed the chain sprocket set(chain, front & rear sprocket). I have checked if i messed up anything during sprocket replacement and found everything to be fine.

Local mech says it needs to be rebored(which i seriously doubt).
It has just clocked 35k on ODO. Oil/oil filter change and other normal maintenance has been taken care of on time.

Can you help on any pointer that i need to check or to resolve this issue.

As many of you might know, that the GS150R lacks the low-end punch. I was thinking if a replacement of stock air-filter to K&N filter would increase the low end power delivery. Any thoughts? Has any one tried this? Please advice me. Thanks

                        Stock Air-Filter is better overall;
                        1. try to stay >= 3000 RPM in all gears; GS responds better between 3k-7k RPM; esp between 4k-6k; yes! GS will sound throaty...
                        2. adjust the chain slackness on the tighter side; i.e. instead of 2-3 cm make it 1-2 cm. Tighter chain prevents chain whipping while shock riding.

K&N filter, even with proper upjetting won't give you noticeable power bump.
Also, if the carb is not properly tuned after K&N installation, it will badly affect the engine in long run.

Mostly, the power bump we feel with K&N is due to the roaring sound. Stay stock.

Were the tappets adjusted? If yes, maybe they were not set right. If not, get them done and the sound should go away.

Change gears soon enough and you will fly to70. I have personally experienced. This bike is thoroughly suited for cruising at 80.
