  • Can seat height be increased in some way to allow lesser ankle bend?

GS150R is my first bike First four free services over and 8500kms done without any glitches. Love it's refinement and ability to cruise on highways. I have two questions:
    1. Is it better to switch to tubeless and keep the stock inner tubes as spares in long roadtrips? (I'm planning Leh trip next year)
    2. I'm slightly over 6' tall and find the seat height makes me bend my knees and ankles a bit more than I am happy with and it gets uncomfortable to keep my ankles bent for long hours of roadtrip... any suggestions to increase seat height or other mods to increase my riding height from the footpegs?

When the bike was delivered it had a minor scratch on the headlight lens and the handlebar was slightly bent, both of them were replaced free of cost, but the new handlebar is about 1cm long on each side, leaving an unsightly gap between the grips and weight. They showed me that all the spare handlebars were longer than the factory fitted one. What should i do?? confused.
Wider handlebars are comfortable to hold. Nothing to worry.

If you're willing to satisfy the looks, you could get the rider's seat stuffed with foam so that it becomes level to the pillion's seat.

          Thanks in Advance.
          Hi All,

Coming back to this thread after a long time. My 2012 gs150r has clocked nearly 4200 km and finished officially 4th service (3rd service in reality). I was late for 2nd service, so as days had elapsed, they took 3rd service coupon instead of 2nd. Anyway, i was having problem of hard gear shifts from day 1. I took this hard gear-shift problem to Aryan suzuki showroom guys, but they said gear shift will be hard in new bike and asked me to ride as is. After first service at 790 km, the bike engine became smooth, but the hard gear shifts remained. Second service was done at around 1700 km. I did my first two services at Aryan suzuki, old airport road, bangalore. I complained about hard gears during service, but they only adjusted clutch cable and said it will smoothen as it runs more km on odo.

Once i am slotted in a gear, the bike is smooth and vibration-free. The engine kept becoming smoother. But the hard gear shifts continued and kept getting worse. The gears would sometimes refuse to change. I had to accelerate, ride some 20 meters, and try gear shifting again. I was not happy with the service i got at Aryan suzuki. They only did water wash and oil change, and they even overtightened my chain which resulted in partially worn sprocket.

Meanwhile, i rode my friend's Gs150r and found the gears to be really smooth.

I decided to get 3rd service done at Value suzuki, vasanthnagar, bangalore. I again took up this hard gears problem at 3rd service with 3900 km on odo. Again, during service, nothing was done, except waterwash and oil change. Meanwhile in the next 2 days after service the hard gear shift problem kept getting worse.

Two days after 3rd service, I went back to value suzuki and complained that they have not done anything about the hard gears during service. This time, they directed me to one Mr. Shabeer. He put the bike on center stand, started it, and changed gears. He immediately acknowledged there was a problem and said some part in clutch assembly could be broken or loose. He asked me to leave bike for 1 day. I collected bike next day, and guess what, the hard gear shift problem was resolved. Service guys said they had changed some part in the clutch assembly. The repair was done free of cost under warranty.

One important thing i learned from this. Guys who do regular service are not mechanics; they do only waterwash, oil change, chain adjustment, and wax polish. They dont do any real technical repairs. No repairs are done during regular service.

If you want any repairs to be done, take it up in between regular service. The guys who do non-regular service are the real mechanics.

Now, i am really angry with Aryan Suzuki. They never acknowledged that there was a problem with the gears, and i ended up riding the bike for 4000 km with hard gears. Hope i have not damaged the gears by this.

So, if any of you is going to buy this bike, please ride it and check for hard gears. If the gears are too hard to change, select another bike from the lot.

          • Cool... that sounds possible but then, I will have to raise the handlebars too, right?

Find a comfortable level while increasing the seat height because increasing the handlebar level is not easy.

Is Mr. Shabeer the service engineer for Value Suzuki or is the person to contact in whole of Bangalore? I need to pay this guy (or someone equivalent) a visit pretty soon. Please share his address/Contact number or what effort you had to put in to get to him.

                • Shabeer is an experienced long term Senior service engineer [hey not a old aged] at value Suzuki and yes you can trust him on detecting and fixing issues

They sure are comfy to hold, just that how can suzuki make a spare like handlebar almost 2cm longer. Isn't there fixed standards??

I wanted the Handlebar to be close to my arms, had tried handlebars of Thunderbird(not a comfortable grip on the handlebar),TVSChamp(no enough length to fix clutch and front brake yokes along with grip and bar end weights), RD 350(Just wide, nothing else). Slingshot's handle bar helped me in getting almost 3 inches closer to my arms.

They should come up with more camps like this to attract customers. But I seriously doubt the quality of service since they are going to have much more vehicles to deal with than the capacity they have.

                          • One more intension of the camp was to let the newly trained engineers learn servicing in real time

JAV is walking distance from my home but I didn't know about the quality
of their service, so just gave my GS to ABT for 1st service yesterday @ 958 kms
on odometer. GS was returned @ 958 with a make-it-look-ugly petrol tank cover!

Also the person filling out the job card asked me whether to fill "additive oil" -
Fearing he might fill a semi-synth, i didn't opt for it. Ordinary 20w-40 oil(do they use shell?) cost was 362/- for a litre and filter was 37/- (so cheap ?).

Am having a dilemma whether or not I should remove the
                              tank cover - any suggestions?

                              • the oil they use is castrol mineral..please don't remove the tank cover, though it spoils the looks, it helps in not letting the water inside the tank when it rains..i too installed the tank cover yesterday only..i stay in mandaveli..i own a white gs...where do u stay bro?
