I also noticed a faint "hiss" from one of the breather tubes while at work(engine was off).

Since water is having greater density than petrol, it would remain either in the tank or carb or even would've exited as steam.. No problem if it was only few drops.. But many a drops will make an ocean and it'll create problems later.. Take care of it..

Got it from ABT, suzuki. Where do you service yours ?

    The same place.

Why is the disc placed on the left side - design language or is there a reason for this ?

Dont know why. But it served me only one purpose from not getting bent from the accidents I'd faced. Front mudguard was crashed twice on the right hand side, the design cue saved some penny from the damages.
Writing this after my todays accident from the Pondy trip. Thank God I'm safe with little bruises on legs, bike needs to undergo some parts transplantation or plastic surgeries which ever is viable to my pocket.

        - Service the bike and make sure it is in proper condition
        - Check tyre pressure
        - Fill tank full. During the ride if you need a refill, do not wait till the reserve comes up. Once the indicator shows 1 bar, fill up.
        - Mount the luggage using some bungee cords. Make sure there are no loose cords or cables from the luggage.
        - Take sufficient breaks during the ride. Like once in 100 KMs or so.
        - Drink plenty of water during the ride even if you are not thirsty.
        - Do not ride in speeds more than what you can see and stop without any fuss.
        - Have atleast 6 hours sleep the night before. I know it will be exciting but a good sleep definitely helps.
        - During the ride, if you feel sleepy, take a power nap under some tree for 10 or 15 mins. It helps.

        Ride safe and have fun!

Guys the bike crossed 10K a week back and now its over 11K Nothing really needs to be said about this bike. Its such a gem! However, many of us seem to be getting less mileage. I had some issues with performance on the highway too. Like it was dying to push above 90. But thanks to Phanikar I got this info and it really works.

There are three modes in the bike. Eco, Power and the blank mode. I was riding on this blank mode for a long time and my speeds and mileage was less. If you set it to Eco or Power mode, the CDI mapping changes and the bike will be set accordingly. I set it to ECO and the mileage jumped from 45 to 55 with the same style of riding. On the highway, I set it to Power. It touched 100 in a blink of an eye. Its a real fast bike in Power mode. I can cruise effortlessly at 100 - 105 all day and still get 40 KMPL mileage. Earlier 95 was like the top end. Fully crouching and favourable roads and wind would push it above 100. Now 100 seems to be the cruising speed! You might get more speeds easily. I weigh 105 and that would be a big factor in this.

        • Hi All,

Been browsing through the thread and got membership just today. I have purchased a 1 year old gs150 from my friend and plan to go on long rides. However I am concerned about a flat Tyre and other issues even though the Tyre condition is good. any advice from the community would be helpful.

Also wanted to know if anybody has tried tyre slime, tubeless tyre and other options for a flat tyre.

apologies if it is already covered in other threads. you can even paste some urls from previous threads.

          Thanks in advance

            • Hi all, I recently bought a black GS150r ,in bangalore. Ever since the first day,I have had engine start problem(using electric start) in the morning. Some of the days ,simply using choke also does not work and have to resort to kick start.Just wanted to know if this is just a cold weather problem or something I should go to the Service Centre for?

This is common with most carbureted bikes in cold weather. What is the idling RPM? Allow the bike to run idle for a couple of minutes after starting before you ride it out. It will help warm up the engine as well as get the oil circulating.

A moron in a car overtook a bus&truck from the opposite side at a sharp bend, to avoid direct hit I tried to slow down to the edge of the road.. My fate, I panicked a bit seeing some gravels on the edges, quite oversteered & the bike got dragged into the ditches... Escaped with heavy bruises on the right leg knee and swollen foot...

Now recovered fully and back to track...

Idling rpm is around 1k. I tried allowing it to run idle but it always switches off in 5-10 sec. This happens even if I let it run idle on choke.Inevitably have to resort to kick start and then race it a bit before it warms up

Happens on ECR. Not all curves are 'fully visible' due to trees on either side of the road. Glad nothing big happened to you. Me too got almost got hit by a Govt express bus on the Pondy-Chennai run but luckily my speed was low because I was breaking-in my GS and had just the right amount of space on the left. Some people on ECR just don't have the common sense of not to overtake around a corner (especially when the view is obstructed).

After you take a short ride, set the idle rpm to 1400-1500. 1k for a warm engine is very low. For my GS, I follow suzuki's manual to warm up - use choke to start > engine starts > keep choke at 50% and warm up opening the throttle. This works fine for me but initially(the first 2 weeks after delivery) even throttle has to be opened(along with the choke) a bit for the engine to start running - That puzzled me actually - our Activa would switch off if throttle+choke was used. My second-hand Eterno was another wonder - It never needed a choke !

My first-service-due GS came to reserve today. Approx reserve-to-reserve calculation gives 50 kmpl. Good/bad ?

                      cheers..

                            • To add to what rharish said, we need to have the proper gear shifting. There is a big difference on how we ride a 5 gear and 6 gear vehicle. Probably that was the reason for the vehicle to struggle @ higher speeds. I learned it after coming back from a long ride. We also need to keep an eye on the RPM. At what RPM do we attain the high speed?

                              • Hi guys, I purchased a GS 150R this August (Buying decision largely made on the experience posted here!). It's quite a gem of a bike, but having a little trouble. When the bike was delivered it had a minor scratch on the headlight lens and the handlebar was slightly bent, both of them were replaced free of cost, but the new handlebar is about 1cm long on each side, leaving an unsightly gap between the grips and weight. They showed me that all the spare handlebars were longer than the factory fitted one. What should i do?? confused.
