  • I have Gear shift Problems right from a year now. It was smooth before, Done 15k kms now. Oil just changed a month back.

What is hard shift actually? Does it become very difficult to shift gears?

I have problems too but i don't find much difficult in shifting. But its not smooth at all, there is a clik sound, and some friction, the gear liver has become quite loose. Is this hard shift or is it normal?

So that it'll help people here who are facing the same issues.

My GS is also getting the same fever nowadays. I did some adjustment to the clutch, will update the result after the testing is over.

Happy Diwali to every GS buddies.
Sure. Next time I go there, I can ask him what was done. AFAIK he did not replace anything. He just told me not to ride the clutch as it would affect the clutch (or clutch plates. I don't remember) and the gear shifts would be hard. From then on I do not ride the clutch except when I have to stop and start again. Gear has been smooth ever since.

        Are you referring clutchless shifting?

No no. Clutch riding is when you ride in half clutch. Sometimes in speeds less than 10 you would give half clutch in second gear and ride off without down shifting. This should be avoided.

          • My name is Ram and I belong to kochi. I am looking for a commuter bike and actually I am impressed with GS150R. But I can only see less numbers GS bikes in my town, so I have some doubts, if the company discontinued the bike.. spares will be easy available?.
Also if possible to change the tyre to tubeless in future without changing the wheel rim.

            Thanks

              Hey Ram,

The GS150R is not stopped and very much in production. Spares should not be a problem in a big city like Kochi.
Spares for discontinued bikes like Heat and Zeus are still available 3 years after they were discontinued so you don't have to worried about spares. And yes, you can change to tubeless tires without changing the rims.

              Finally, Welcome to xBhp!

Friend, I have tried mailing Suzuki in all sections they have on the website plus, I got a few email ids off some pamphlets but I didnt get a reply to a single mail. Have given up trying to contact SMIPL and now all I can do is pester the mechanics and engineers at the SVC.

Update: Tried again and there seems to be a technical problem with the form submission page. Others please try and let me know.

@rharish90- Not riding the clutch is something we can do to prevent the rough gearshifts but since we already have it, I guess we need to find some other measure to rectify it.

It is same everywhere , no of GS are least running on roads , the company will not discontinue the model as they have only one in there line up, general spares are available, critical parts may be a issue , but again its common with popular models too.GS is safe bet.

                        Hi Harish,

I too have experienced it. I found that with clutch riding in bumper to bumper traffic, the gears get harder. But after I changed my riding style to use clutch only to change gears, my GS150 is much smoother. Anybody had similar effect?

                        Regards,
                        Vijaya Kumar

Maybe take the bike to these guys once and fix it. From then on use the clutch mininally. I ride in bumper to bumper traffic too everyday. Initially I found it very hard to not ride half clutch. But nowadays I ve gotten used to it. Trust me, it takes a little bit of practice. That's all.

                          • Today I got a chance to test drive a brand new suzuki GS150R... . The engine is smooth while starting and also during gradual pickup. When I tried to put extra power (not gradual pickup and not rash drive), I could hear some kind of noise from engine side, on the same side when I reduce the acceleration its back to normal. I think the vehicle is not ment for power drive

Is the noise normal or will the power drive distroy the engine

The noise is a normal characteristic of the engine and is quite exaggerated if you wear a full face helmet. I ride my bike pretty hard and it never fails to impress. To experience the real power of this bike, you need to keep the revs above 6000.

                              Regards.
