In this 40k kms, 1 year n 8 months of ownership, my bike never gives me any problem at all.. every thing is just fine with it. decent mileage 55-58, good acceleration, better top-end 125kmph, one time it went to 139kmph with fellow gspians.. also had some long rides on it 550kms nonstop..
I am really happy with my GS150R and it satisfied me everytime... this bike is a VFM..
This is the list of parts that has to be changed due to normal wear n tear
    1.Disk brake pad 2 times
    2.Rear Brake liner 1 time

Thats it guyz.. I haven't changed anything more than that due to normal wear n tear.. my stock spark plug, Chain Sprocket, clutch & Pressure plates and tyres are in good shape yet, n feel that it will last me for about 10k kms more.. so for me maintenance cost is very low.. i always change oil n filter at 3k kms interval(after 15th paid service, i change it at local shops).. Brand: Castrol Power1

Now battery is showing its age and i need to buy a new battery. which brand is the best???
does Sonic batteries are good?? as they give 2years warranty and other brand like Exide gives only 18mnths warranty..

Planning for 1500kms ride(To and fro) next weekend.. what say guyz?? should i do this ride in current bike condition or should i put new set of Tyres n sprocket??
    Congrats Jayant.

Exide is indeed a good battery. You can also look at Amaron for very good quality even though the price is a little higher. In my experience, batteries perform well during the warranty period.

If you are planning long distance rides, it's always better to get the tyres and tubes changes as they have well served you for the past 40k kms. It might save you the trouble of being stranded in places without a puncture repair shop. I also suggest you get the accelerator and clutch cables changes. If you still think the tyres are usable, keep them at home as backup if anything happens to the new tyres. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Check the sprocket wear and then decide whether it needs to be changed. It lasted well past 80k kms in my older bike but I can't compare the 2 bikes bikes as this bike produces more torque and hence causes more wear of the moving parts.

      Congrats bro.,

Regarding the battery, you can refill/topup the fluid (distilled water) again and rewind the stator coil alone to keep it alive for another 6months or so.

If you are planning to replace it, like Vikhyath said Amaron is a better option to look for..
It's wiser to replace the tyres atleast for this trip..

My best wishes for your upcoming journey..

Congrats dude. 40k kms in 20 months is a great feat to achieve. Regarding battery/tyres/sprockets Vikhyat and Magesh shall help you, but please explain me one thing; you said you clocked 139 clicks on your bike. Is it stock?
Assuming 10% speedo error also brings it to 126 kmph. Am I missing something?

You can reach that speed on a stock bike if you have a long enough piece of road and provided that the bike is not loaded with luggage or pillion and you are crouching with throttle maxed out. It's easier to achieve on the bikes bought before sept 2011.

Edit: If anybody wants to ask why I mentioned about pre 2011 september bikes, it's because this bike was refreshed in sept 2011 which gave it new gear ratios. These are in favour of acceleration than top speed.

            • Visiting xbhp after a long time. And its great to see the continued help this platform is providing to fellow gspians. It would be highly appreciating if you guys can help me with your valued comments on what has gone wrong in my GS150r as fuel is leaking below the chain cover whenever the fuel plug is in the ON position and the engine refuses to start. This is the first glitch am facing with the reliable GS150r.
Bikes don't leak oil, they mark their territory.

May be you are referring to the fluid pin fault which is in the Carburator, with the result that the fuel has overflowed in the carburator. You need to get it inspected at the service centre.

My bike is in a similar condition with the wires below the seat in the area behind the slot provided to keep the manual. Still haven't figured out if there is any electrical failure because of that.

Thanks for the quick reply Magesh. I think all the full DC converted bikes are having the high beam indicator issue. Even Some of my friends are hesitating to convert their gs150r to full dc because of it.
It would be very helpful if you could post a solution for it.

                              • Hi Friends,

After driving Caliber 115 for around 9 years, last month I decided to switch over to a higher cc bike. I had shortlisted Honda Unicorn, NS 200 and Suzuki GS 150. I had test driven Unicorn and Suzuki GS 150. I did not have the test ride of NS 200 as firstly the dealers were hesitant to give a test ride on a new bike and secondly due to low positioning of silencer/exhaust and that too being too small, I feel it is not fully fit for being driven in Himalayas as it might hit the boulders in water streams and while crossing slush besides it being a new launch, there was not enough proof of its total reliability as yet. It might need some modifications in near future. I wonder if the small exhaust would be able to expell all the burnt fuel out or will the burnt fuel affect it adversely ?

In my opinion if you are hesitant to cross deep water stream on way to Ladakh, there is no fun of driving NS 200 in Himalayas and this point turned my decision in favour of GS 150.

Although I have nothing adverse to say about Honda Unicorn, but it is too old whereas Suzuki has the same qualities (almost) with digital console, remarkable features and good mileage.

I am sure it will prove its worth the money spent.
