Bro...do not worry about it so much....ya sure 36 is a bit much...but do not worry...the tyre will not explode or develop cracks.....
It cannot be exactly said that how many days it will take to deflate....that can never be calculated...

and also without the pressure gauge you cannot deflate it exactly....
but as I said...it is nothin to worry about....the tyres and tubes are manufactured keepingin mind such situations....and believe me they can sustain more than that....
technolofy is far more advanced than it was 15 or say even 10 years ago....
the compunds...material....nylon used for tyres are far more superior....
so as I said...do not worry...just keep it as it is....or if you really are tense...you can just deflate it for about 3-4 seconds.....
but you know what....they say that...if the tyres are more inflated you will get a good mileage....
    sorry....i can't stop speaking sometimes.....

    • Good Decision Buddy

Hey buddy" Thats a really very right decition buddy" GS150R is really bulky, kool and quick enough and certainly a right choice of a tourer

Originally posted by sam9s View Post

Suzuki. I have been following with xbhp and other reviews for a long time to make a decission and xbhp really helped me to

      choose wisely.

It was a gruesome decisions as I was really confused between various offerings, following is my story....

First of all let tell you the foremost reasons I was looking for in a bike.....

The top most was : Ride comfort, smoothness and driving pleasure

      2. Decent Millage 45-50
      3. Decent Power, pickup and last
      4. Techno Equipped

Following were the contenders in no specific order

      1. CBZ-X
      2. Apachie RTR
      3. Unicorn
      4. Pulsar 150
      5. FZ16
      6. Suzuki GS150R

Out of the above I was almost sure not to go for P150 as it is too common a bike and I did not find the ride comfort at all specially at high speed, for the rest 5 following is my personal experience.

      1. CBZ-X : Was the most ordinary in looks. Even the new CBZ-X with a gradient shade over black and better style handle was just ok in looks. But CBZ was a prime contender when it came to ride comfort. Despite of ordinary looks and no GAS shockers CBZ-X was giving utter smoothness at 60-70 mark. Pick up was decent and it was perfect for my sitting posture as well.

      2. RTR :now this bike has created huge ballyhoo and hoopla among bike lovers for its shear power and pickup and I wanted to
have a good test drive for atleast this bike. Thankfully the sales person at showroom in Ghz was cool enough to let me have a long drive and that to alone, so off I went with RTR (FI was out of question as it was very expensive....72000)...so off I went with RTR and the very first impression was.....this bike has the most peppy pickup of the lot......remember RX100,
something like that (though RX100 would still beat the crap in 0-60 Pickup) anyway awsome pickup at 1st and 2nd, 3rd was ok
4th and 5th... decent, but trust me after taking a good ride I felt this bike is bit over hyped (now dont you RTR fans come bashing at me.....its my personal opinion....:-) ) No doubt its was good but is power the only thing you look for........may be for some but for me RTRs comfort level should be under serious questioning........
The very first very noticeable glitch were the vibrations, I was clearly feeling them at high speeds (and I hate vibrations)
Second is the awkward sitting posture,..... To giving a sports like appeal, designers have given a sitting posture very much like a 500CC racing bike, (you lean forward quite a bit) good for couple of dashes but not at all comfortable even for a small long ride. Maybe it was intended for a different target audience.......not for me. :-)

      3. Unicorn : I loved this bike, but the only reason I held back from this one was similar to P150.... too old and common and
I was getting better ride comfort from the latest in the market.. :-)

      4. FZ16 : Another bike that has created big..... I mean BIG ripples among bike lovers and I seriously hope it lives up to its expectations. If you ask me Yamaha I guess have completely concentrated over how the bike looks and less on how well it should perform, and I do agree we have a huge percentage of bike lovers who would simply go for looks and would compromise on
the rest..... specially 16-25 age segment.....A couple of oohhs and aaahs from girls and complete knockout posture with "gaugs" and gals cuddling with you on this beauty looking machine is ALL youngsters would want....... and FZ16 fully justifies this reason....... sadly I did not feel bike performance as justified as looks. Here is my take......very good pickup for 1st and 2nd gear, only second to RTR but looses out badly in all rest transmissions. A practical example.....While on test run I was driving on like 45 and ahead of me was a truck which was on 65 may be 70. I wanted to overtake it with a
varoom punch....you know what I mean and to my surprise when I pumped the throttle the bike just dragged from 45 to 70,......... :-( no body was coming from the opposite side else I wouldnt have been able to overtake which I did eventually but it defeated the very purpose of overtaking on highways........I was disappointed.....poor 3rd and 4th shifts.......average ride comfort and Vibrations.....less than RTR but still more than CBZ-X.

      5. Suzuki GS150R Now coming to this dream machine........First of all few professional snaps and small overview of the

      specifications

I will post real live images very soon.

Suzuki GS150R was almost perfect in everything, top class ride comfort, engine extremely refined, better than Unicorn at high speeds, below 60 there was no difference between Unicorn CBZX and GSR but at high speeds things were different. Engine sound at stand still neutral and below 60 was best (by best I mean least and refined) in CBZX, at high speed not much of a
difference between UNI and GSR but GSR ride smoothness above 60 was impeccable, absolute butter, and I was blown away from GSR's 3rd gear variance or scope and pickup, 40 to 70 was a pleasure and even 70-95 was effortless (which quite lacked in FZ16 that I mentioned before) I could not go beyond 95. But I could feel the bike would easily do 115. I will test its limits
after the 1st service. So ride comfort was not at all a problem....my prime critaria met.
Then came the power, what else can I say better than FZ16 and CBZ, atleast in mid range speed bracket. less than RTR ofcourse.....I am not sure about P150. UNI does not even come in to the picture.
Milage 55-60 is what is claimed....I will verify that after a couple of weeks, but heck even if its like 50-55 what else can we expect from a 150CC bike. My Ambition used to struggle to give 45-50 with 135CC engine.
So millage criteria was met as well. Last was the Techno Equipped and GSR does not fail even in that. Best console I have seen in the current bikes.

Comes with a neat digital speedometer and a shift over to two modes namely Power and Eco mode. Technically I don't think they have done anything to differentiate except that in ECO mode if you pull the throttle there is a controlled fuel flow and you wont get a peppy pickup at all gear shifts and there is an indicator that would let you know the best time to shift the gear.
This would obviously save fuel and you would not get a varoom pick. Power mode has no such indication and fuel flows with it full capacity. Apart from that, console displays fuel level, trip meter, time, and gear position. RPM indicator is kept analog which adds to the impressive design.

I think I have covered almost all aspects of the bike, and have given a decent comparision as well. As I said I will soon

post some of my personal pics as well, and would keep updating the thread as and when Km increases...... till then any

questions queries from people interested in this bike are most welcomed

      Regards
      Sammy

also suggest which colour rings i can put around my rim.
        i have blue coloured gs..

        thanks in advance.
bro i agree eith you regarding the helmet lock....if it is put on the grab rails it will spoil the look....but also I am afraid you cannot put on the grabrails as they are too wide....
One place is the leg guard.....you can fix the helmet lock on the left side of the leg guard ...(as there are less chances to fall on left side)

Put the lock on the horizontal part of the leg guard...so that it would not be a extra protrusion if you put it vertically....

Or you can try the option on of the person on the forum tried....the person...I am not sure who it was....was not exactly using a helmet lockk....it was a bicyle lock....you know...with a stout metal wire and a lock at one end....which is flexible....you can put it around the handle near the speedometer.....and lock you helmet with it....

Well better thing would be to carry the helmet with you.......
ya I know it is difficult...sometimes...but altleast your helmet wont get dusty...if you really put some...serious money in the helmet...you need to maintain it as good as the bike....i read in one of the forums...as guy purchased a helmet for 8.5K...

        So try the options...

          My Observations before purchase :

          1. There really seems to be rust probs with the blue ones...the display blue model had rust on silencer nuts
          2. The showroom (only one in cochin, gonna work in chennai next month & taking bike there) r not that interested in selling it compared to the "NAKED BIKE TECHNOLOGY" chants of the yamahas ppl(also gals) or H/Honda persistent callbacks
          3. Migrating 4m an activa to a 1st time bike and found ALL bikes do have more vibs than scoots
4.The FZ and GS had the least vibs (somehow managed to test ride...my 1st geared experience) with hunK and rtr having good sound + vibs
5.GS was the easiest to drive(yep not the FZ with its so short shifter) and Hunk the worst during test

Finally went for GS because (though had booked an FZ) :
          1. Read Here the cruising at higher speeds better
          2. Read Here Good for 6'' folks
          3. Read Here comfort+ (very important as cochin roads r the best back breakers)

So got the bike within 2 days at 64,000 cash with a scratched silencer and hairline cracked tacho... parts being replaced free at 1st service. It was dusty and was dripping wet when delivered...wax (forgotten) was done in a jiffy in another hour...came home trying to change gears at 3.5 ~ 4.5 rpm as read here...

My Observations after purchase and 425 kms :

The -ve : The headlight/'fake'light sucks...useful only when there are no streetlamps...the main beam is straight and useless...the pilot lamps are not DC hence are flickering at idle like a dying bike

This bike is heavy when taking stop and go u-turns and if u are not a gym member but a tall drumstick guy, u better watchout

The sound is As Read here like a baby tractor not irritating nor interesting

          The +ve:
          1. The engine smoothness and the gear shifter are outstanding and gets better and better
          2. Dunno what u ppl mean by poor rear brakes...yep they felt a bit soft but now they are just perfect with good bite...the disc is getting more hungry and seems to lose its progressive braking (I liked it)
          3. NO RUST formation either on/under fuel tank or silencer with having been in rains and dirt
4.The comfort at 6th gear + stability is excellent and horn is great (compensates the tractor noise from engine )
          5. Upshifts or downshifts are perfect and yep sometimes downshifts do make a deep vib-free sound but compensated by the fine N - 1 gear mechanism( 2nd gear light downshift is N, whereas a Stronger downshift(FEEL 2 clicks) is 1st gear
          6. The gear indicator is GR8 for a newbie...yet to have a false neutral or wrong gear!!!
7.The RPM warning white Led is just the blinK u need even at clear noon to change gears...its bright and good switchgear placements

8.THIS BIKE LOOKS HANDSOME (in black)...The silencer and its side view is terrific(Yep i find it better than FZ) and its Big

9.Comfort is Vgood and the tanK contours seems just right for my leg and I DONT find the toe and heel shifter placement like Mt.Everest...use heel for upshifts and toe for downshifts with absolute ease

10.Am loving the bike more each day and THANKs to all the blogs here about GS...I made a decision and am 100% satisfied(not mentioning the Xmas pilot lamps...btw its not even a prob)

Notes: Having now driven (after being trained on my GS ) a R15, Fazer, Gladiator, P200, RTR 180 testride(the silencer shape is oops), CBZ Ext and driving them makes me appreciate the bike even more and its gear indicators and overall feel

My driving pattern is " accelerate freely through the Gears " as in handbook...change gears at 4~4.5K rpm and downshifts at 3K rpm with engine braking and late 40:60 Fr:Rr braking...still driving at ECO till 1st service Cheerios

Hey Bro...hearty congratulations...I am really getting more envious ...day by day....I am not able to buy it till next month...a long wait.....

          Nice....review man......
Greast choice buddy...and Black rocks man.....many people might say the black is common and all....but bro I feel Black is the best.....it is simply elegant....and it never looks old....

Some pics would be really helpful....

Exactly buddy, I meant accelerating at 5/6 gear much below 3K RPM is bad, but downshifts at that range is ideal at any gear with upshifts at 4~4.5K pretty interesting and dynamic

            • Today was a day of bad lucks :
              1. Twice 4got to change knob to ON and once stopped midway on highway with a truck coming to stop behind me with horns blaring...I love the scoots 4 no knobs ...but best was to come later on

              2. Never go at around 60 in any unknown(1st time) "smooth road" in Kerala :
Dunno 4m where but a massive hump lay right in centre with massive pot holes on either side...no time to react went right on it...scooter instinct got me pressing pressing both clutch(oops not rear brake) & front brake and here the surprise:
I felt nothing on it...the front sus took the impact with no reflux and then horror:
The front wheels had gone airbone( hit the hump on 6th around 50) for ~2 sec, come down on a strip of tarmac, heard a hell raising scrreech (disc was pressed) and dunno how(gotta be gs wt + fact that steering was still straight) but was on a front wheelie & stable but then rear went on tarmac, had lost hold of clutch the rear came down, a big jerk from engine & stopped in another muddy pothole with fr tyre skid...at standstill i fell left with it on top ...the only person Mr.Thomas in that surrounding came running... But miraclously i was fine(on outside inside was utter vibs ) with just a slight palm scratch & pain there and a dirty wet pant ...The GS had no scratch as it fell on me at standstill...
Just Returned in night with worst pouring rain(hits the face) and absolutely isolated scary road thinking fr sus ought be kaput...any headlight is useless here and so was my visor & rcoat...bike worked fine with both susps acting good...reached home feeling absolutely miserable (knob prob, had a acci, body was fully wet 4r 2hrs, found out the rucksack wit a lap inside was dripping wet and 4got my wallet in a shop 80 kms away)...Nway checked the front sus, apart from the usual creaking sound its fine (no oil leak/bends and ride home was smooth...) Now finally home is really sweet home
Note: If i was on an activa, the fr ought to have sheared off with me doing a human wheelie...Somehow my guardian angel was protecting me hence thank God for watching over me and thank bike makers for protecting the bike

And yep now its an 'interesting' day...Btw will post pics as soon as time permits...Cheerios

Yepi Well the wallet is safe with the owner of that shop(the only 'kappi cafe' in that area and he gave me a miss call as my cell no. is on the wallet)..had ~200bucks + 30rs. worth of coins 4m mamma's purse but more imp. had my license, PAN card & debit card...will get it back tom. and also have a good check at fr sus...had a check now its all right but the tyre seem to have a small line crack in centre...Nway speed thrills but kills...in Kerala roads thrill and also kill

I remember my first cruise on my RX135 (CAN NEVER BE A CRUISE THO) tanjore-trichy-chenai trip (360km). my first trip through this route.

I was always afraid of bends, but as I got used to it and the butter smooth NH-45 (1999 OCT) with confidence of my RX braking, took the Hi-way bends at 80kmph.

60km away from trichy towards chennai there were continuous acute bends (just before the ariyalur junction - now these bends are straightened with 4 lane and devider) which I took with same confidence, but at the end found myself in front of a van travelling to trichy
(opposite direction) and fortunately found myself alive caz our (me and the van driver) brakes and mind (the presence) were working good. Had to rest for a while (10 mins) to get me out of the shock with 250km more to take me home. From that time I never travel above 60 (dint get a lesson to drive below 60 on my RX) in unknown routes.

So its not just Kerela but any unknown route.

                        • have been following this thread for a while now...had a pulsar dtsi first edition (minus the mags and the digital speedo) that i rode for 4 years..somehow was never happy with the gear box and stiff seats....

my dilemma was similar..either to go in for the safe but old fashioned unicorn or give in to the gs temptation.

booked my gs here in bombay and now im in two minds again as there are very very few service centres...3 to be precise across the city..

what do you suggest? stick to this or play it safe by switching over to the black unicorn? just that after reading some negatives, im kinda nervous as its not possible to go to the service station everytime since they are far..

                          Thanks

When I had Caliber115 and planned to leave to Mumbai from Pune next morning, I did the mistake of trying to adjust the screw at night. I royally screwed up, and somehow limped back to Mumbai with non-continuous acceleration, as I couldn't find even one mechanic early monrning, from whole route of Pune-Mumbai. My mech in Mumbai did it in some 3-4 seconds only. So I suggest pay a mech some 10-20rs and learn under him. Don't experiment when you have big events planned ahead immediately.

Thank God you&the bike were not hurt!
A similar incident once took place when I was riding in a dusty road with my gf on my Fiero F2-we both flew pretty high&fortunately got back straight on the road-both were sitting straight so...But in the bargain I lost a whole bunch of keys including my home&both my bikes' keys!
After that, I have been stopping to clean my plain visor everytime I find even a bit of vision getting impaired.

how many days would 36 take to deflate to 30 ??
is 36 bad for tyre(like exploding or cracks due to too much stretching) ??
Nothing will go wrong, I see Splendor guys filling 40 in their rear tyre for more mileage!
I fill 30&35 in my R15&Fiero F2-works good for me. I am not exactly light at 78kgs.

i feel grab rails may spoil the looks.
is it risky to leave the helmet on the helmet holder under the seat ??

also suggest which colour rings i can put around my rim.
                                i have blue coloured gs..

also tell any good place(shop and address) in bangalore for these 2 things if u know.
                                thanks in advance.
Like someone else said here, it is possible to put a helmet lock in various places, but I don't prefer leaving the helmet on the bike. I found people wiping their hands in some people's helmet paddings after lunch!
Moroever the padding gets dusty, so I carry it with me to my desk at office. If I need to leave it at a theatre or something, I always keep a helmet bag under the seat, so I can put it in&sling it around my shoulder.
You can actually get these helmet bags for free-the helmet shop guys get one with each helmet&don't give it to us just coz we don't ask for them.
For the radium stickers, I think light blue would look good.

Hehehehehe, funny experience. I had this on my Fiero F2 in the initial days too. I thought I had tuned it to exactly 1.5K RPM&went to college etc.&came back at night to see I had almost finished off half a tank of petrol-later found that the engine was revving almost near the redline!
In my case, I set it too high. In your case you set it too low. Thats why, I learnt how to do it from the mechanic. It should be done after the engine is sufficiently warm enough&without switching off.
                                Quench my thirst with gasoline!
