Thanks bro....Is converting to DC really a hard job...?? Well I do not intend to go for HID anyway.....
But I just wanted to ask that....is converting to DC a hard work....??

I mean if I ask the same from any mechanic can he be able to do it...?? Like some mechanic from the CASTROL BIKEZONE...I hope they are better trained..

Well I do not intend to change it...just for knowledge purpose....

    • It is not really a mechanic's job. You will need someone with electrical knowledge to design and build a AC to DC converter circuit. If you have the required knowledge, it is a doable job, else it will be hard.

Anyways, I have a thread running of how I converted my P150 to DC. Look it up.
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

You converted your P150 to DC...!! that's really nice to hear....I too have a P150 at present...its 3 years old...

Anyway I will look into the thread you mentioned....I am not at all good in electricals....I mean really very very bad....so I might get some knowledge going through the thread....
        thanks again...

We have 9amp battery in GS and dont have all DC setup, those flickering parking light really steals the look of GS

Bajaj even installed maintainance free battery in that bike, really bajaj doing lot of things now a days- hats off to BAJAJ

Can anyone of the owners please let know ....which battery is used in the GS....is it Exide??? is it maintainance free...?? Please let know...

I think its not very difficult to convert to DC. I also wanna do it. But after all free service get over. There's someone who converted his Unicorn to DC. Check out thread.

If you wanna be precise, divide the 112.6 by the exact no.of litres you filled in (I donno the rate there), you'll get your answer.
IMO your bike is giving you about 50kmpl average, which is stunningly good.
As for the suspension, the 3rd position is the best AFAIK. Posn.1 will not be able to take potholes at all-will bottom out too soon&Posn.5 will be too hard&will give you a stiff back in no time!
Thats right dude.. Around 50 kmpl and Im very satisfied. Earlier my Kinetic was giving 20 kmpl...
Anybody else got suspension adjusted ?

Guys, for last few days my gear shifting is not being smooth for 1-2-3 and 3-2-1. Every time I get thud. Can somebody tell proper method/rpm to upshift and downshift first 3 gears ? If I upshift on 2nd gear at 10 km/h its butter smooth but above that its thud........ and for 1st gear its always thud... is it my mistake ?
ANd if I ride in 1st gear at 15-16 km/h and in 2nd gear at 25-26 km/h, bike becomes rough and gives jerks even at little throttle....

AC to DC is a pretty easy job.(full wave rectifier), but why do u need such a circuit ?? the battery supplies DC anyway, just connect the parking lights to the battery instead of the dynamo.

i think tampering with electricals=no warranty

did u people know this bike costs on 59k on road in haryana and pondicherry !!!!
i paid 66k in bangalore. that too with 3000 discount...

Ya Bro...I had checked that in the Suzuki website....sometime before....
It is really hard....I mean a difference of Rs7000/- it is too much...

I mean it really hurts to know that somebody is riding the same bike for lesser money.....that too 7000/- less...

Before the discount the difference was nearly 10,000/-.....

I had even thought of buying the vehicle in pondicherry and then transfer it to Hyd..

you know what Bro...the bike is costliest in bangalore only....even in Hyd it is nearly Rs 1700/- less....

If you go through the Suzuki website.....you can see that....Bangalore is one of the costliest....in the country...
Other than bangalore you can get it cheaper anywhere....

I think it is because of the Tax the state govt puts on the vehicles....it would be really good if they reduce a bit...

anyway i'll fill again n check. this time it was pretty approx because i didnt know the amount in tank initially.
also i'm thinking of riding in main again and check if its actually come to reserve. the jerking due to lack of fuel wouldnt harm the engine right ??
This is what you can do: As soon as the bike comes to reserve, look for the nearest fuel station&fill in an even amount, say 5 or 6 litres.
Next, reset your tripmeter&see what it reads when it comes to reserve again. Divide that by the no.of litres you filled.

hi.. once it got reserve, the trip meter was zeroed. then while we fill the petrol. i think it will fill the reserve which was consumed from where the trip meter was zeroed and upto the petrol filled and for the remaining km we use main.. untill we get reserve..so the total km shown in trip (reserve to reserve) divided by quantity of petrol filled will give mileage.. is it correct?

Hey buddy i find 1-2 upshifts are smooth if they are done slowly with full travel and soon at low rpm ~2.5K...The deep downshifts sound (ur thud = my clank) is there sometimes...but having ridden a new fazer and P200 its seems common with ALL <5000 kms bikes...The fazer clanks like GS and also want go down from 2-1...yamaha tech. told my friend that the gears are not yet finely set and takes this 5000kms for it to become smooth

But the strain u get from gear box with rapid downshifts from 2-1 at higher rpm is ( this is where scoots rock )

At standstill i am on first with a good acc. upto ~4K with 2nd done slowly and more acc.... find 3rd to be no issue with rapid power in it

When moving 1st gear >3K is a bit strainful hence i upshift ~2.5K to 2nd slowly full travel(no sound), give acc. only here and rapid touch upshifts 2+ ~4K...Upshifts have never been clanky, only downshifts sometimes

It happens in any geared bike(except maybe Big GSR ...Engine at higher RPM, though ur speed may be at 26, the moment u stop throttle, and then accelerate from 10 its gonna be rough and jerky( so also in a car)...just press clutch allow the engine rpm to decrease or upshift (leaving clutch slowly with a little acc) to 2nd...Smoothness seems to depend a lot on engine rpm and not speed at low gears as in any other geared bike :-)

Hey thanx buddy... that was nice info.. I got thud also on friend's cbz-x. We know every bike has different ideal rpm for gear shifts.. and we are in habit of our old bike.. it will take time to get used to proper gear shifting method in GS..
I completely agree man, scoots are Heaven to ride in traffic..! My mom's Dio is immense pleasure in city. But when there's empty straight road ahead and u want to zoom at 3 digit speed, we seriously need bike to burn our adrenaline !! and GS simply ROCKS in this case \m/

So anyways Im going for 2nd service today. Its 1503 km on odo.
Has anybody got suspension adjusted to Level 1 ? And felt difference ?

Bro.. I've done close to 2975 in the ODO and my shifts are really smooth. I believe the first is always a thud no matter. The second I feel is OK in my GS... only sometimes I also get a thud during the second shift which i believe is due to the neutral [this dosen't bother me much] which is between first and second. If I'm wrong here I think we need to look into this on what all circumstance where the second has a thud, and then see what really happens in the gear box.
