Guys... While checkin milleage, please note that you turn on the trip meter when the bike comes to reserve and NOt when you fill petrol.... You may ride how much you want wihin the reserve capacity, but make sure you turn the trip meter on immediately after the bike comes to reserve..... Then fill petrol such that the bike runs on main and see the trip meter reading when the bike comes to reserve again....then divide it by the number of liters........ This should be somewhat accurate... I'm getting somewhere 50 KMPL (+ or - 3)

Guru.... its not your mistake posting the rusting pics here..... Its probably the way in which we look at problems that has taken the discussion like that.... I made it sure that I do not have any kind of rusts even after the bike stood all day in the rains in office(touch wood)....

I would also like to join Guru, amitine, bubbly, shadowfax, etc in promoting this bike.... I like this bike very much.... Many of my friends said that it looks cool..... Sometimes when i went to gettogethers and wedding receptions, people ask me how this bike is and if I have brought it here... This makes me feel ....

    Cheers to GS

            • THe usage of a broken helmet lock

              Hi guys,
Just before the rusting issue discussion , there was someone who enquired about the helmet lock position. I have something to share about this........

Around 2 - 3 years back, during my college days when I was driving my dad's Boxer, I had a helmet lock attached to it. One fine day my classmates needed my bike and so i gave it to them.... When they returned back, They came with a broken helmet lock. I almost vented out my anger (but what to do.... I have to accept it) I thought of getting a new lock....

Man to my utter surprise sometime later.....I found out that the broken helmet lock could be used in any bike in whatever place you can think of......... You can check out the pics I've attached....

Guys If you cannot break it this way... you can as well saw it off using an Hacksaw Blade... Make sure this dosent ruin the lock.....

Want to post some pics here, but my bike is again dirty
                Lemme see...

Btw falcon buddy, when i chose the bike 4m godown, the SC guy just took it out, looked dirty with plastic everywhere (hence missed the tacho crack and silencer scratch), poured some petrol, kick-start(4th kic, no choke )
and then Fortunately had problem taking it out the godown, resulting in 2 mins at idle with 3 guys pulling it out of all cramped GS inside...because once outside door he REVVED it all the way to 7K rpm until i told him to stop...He then told me to check it out and drive it...the odo was at 8.5 kms then.

Nway drove it, was vsmooth (still is) with jerks ( cold engine), and bike stopped with no display, fully dead...only after some , realised no batt atached, 1st kick started and nway ( since the other black looked used with no covering) took it...

Upon delivery (24 kms odo) not one told me about runnin-in Guess thats how all SC behave...( have seen new FZs doing imaginery drags by their SC guys )...

But then these are the very guys that Motoman praises
                dude u're for 7k rpm !!!
when i went for mileage test, and initially after connecting the can that mechanic started my bike and in neutral he raised it fully(12k) for half a second. i felt like slapping him over there itself but just kept quiet.
one thing about running i have realized is, if u're riding for less than 5 min going to 8k rpm is ok(i've been going thru the net a lot about running in, glazing etc etc).if u need an explanation ask me, i'll type it.

Guys help me out, my morning starts are a real big headache sometimes.
today i kicked the bike on,it idled at 1k for 4 seconds and turned off and never started for the next 20 kicks
should i accelerate a little initially in the morning while turning it on ?? like keep it at 2k for 30sec ??
                please help m out.

about the rust thing, my bike has a small dot of rust inside thesilencer, saw it with flash light, there was no paint in that area(probably due to welding or whatever), but just a dot.. sould i show it or ignore ??
(p.s i already made a fool of myself complaining about low mileage and dnt wan to make a fool of mself again)

                • i am in gujarat,vadodara..here there is only one SC for suzuki.....
i went SC today....the owner himself assured me to solve each and every problem and would personally check the problems.
He said they have a instrument/machine with which they can set the idle rpm and fuel/air setting to the factory settings.the ideal setting are made available to them by the company.
i made him feel the exact roughness in the engine like something getting loose and colliding inside...
they have called me on monday....they need a full day to check each and every thing......
lets see how they do it now.......giving feedback to suzuki works... they have to answer them back....so they are in hurry to solve the problems as early as possible.

Hey buddy i have been doing a cross b/w Motoman and traditional runnin-in...Am acc. strongly (not flatout) upto 4.5K in each gear ( Tryin to keep 6th <65) and then cooling off in cruise...gears are becoming damn smooth ...

With regards to some rust inside silencer...i feel its common and its OK...my nova & activa had rust & dirt inside, sidestands were rusty (on nova it cracked )..Still do show it pal

But ur morning start prob is very odd...Here it rains like hell at night and bike starts at 7 early morn. within two kicks w/o any choke & remains pumping...
And the rpm is always 1.5K ~ 1.6K idle, never 1K...Me thinks idle rpm just needs to be adjusted...think someone here has posted on how to do it practically with ease & not mess up

Today was long day ( no QGM due to a prob. with my Idea BOOKED e-tics), hence had a 180 kms drive with friends without visor (else full glare) at 60 ~ 75...GS excels here splendidly
Now my eyes r blood red and am Zzzz....Cheeriozzzz

Use the choke buddy... It will start easily... Apply the choke.. Kick start the bike... Vroom it not more than 4k rpm.... disengage the choke.. Idle the bike for 2 minutes... Thats it... Everything will be fine

WHat I've observed is, first turn ON the petrol knob (assuming its OFF during night), leave it for 1 min so I think sufficient petrol is flowed. Then at first kick my bike starts... and yes WITHOUT CHOKE. experts here suggested not to use choke everyday for cold start.

Its surprising, the parts of bike sunken in water have NOT even a micro particle of rust. But I've rust at following parts- Tank mouth (little bit), right end of handle, stands (not much to worry) and I think inside silencer (yet to confirm its rust or dust) though very little. Im going to show this SC on Monday. Lets see what they do. Im hope Suzuki is working on some solution.

Apart from this, I just love my bike... Its really flying in heaven and I absolutely forget this crappy rust issue while riding. The butter smoothness and comfort makes me forget rust. Its superbb feeling of cool breeze blowing on our face while riding this super smooth bike. I love the feeling. GS Rocks !!
Thanks everyone who commented on my photos.

Hey Bubbly buddy is ur idle on starts always at 1.5K...cause once it starts i DONT rev...rather I keep it idle with fuel knob OFF position and no choke for ~ 2mins...meanwhile open the gates. Then turn Knob ON and hardly 2K rpm go out in first gear...Its starts w/o a hitch always

Bro...i think that really a great idea man....

The main advantage is that we can lock the helmet wherever we want....depending upon the situation....
                              Will surely follow this idea.....
but some guys who are installing a new helmet lcok might find it har to cut away with a hacksaw...

thanks buddy.....it is really a good idea...though you found it accidentaly...

about ur running in, is it ok to accelerate fast to 4k rpm ? for how much time do u accelerate strongly and how much time do u cruise ??

about the idle rpm, once the engine gets warmed up(2km of riding) the rpm comes to 1.3-1.5k so i dont think i can adjust it as it would touch 2k later on.

for cold start do all of you accelerate a little after starting(bring it to 2k) or just kick and let it idle from the start without accelerating ??
