    • Just Upgraded with New HID

      Hello Guys
I visit here after a long Gap Hope you all doing Great,
My GS is doing well just clocked over 37K of ODO no problem at all.

Friends Now i have upgraded my head lamp with a New HID Kid which was imported for China,
      Spec:
      1. 55 watts Fast Bright Ballast(blows 40% of Light in 1Sec and goes to 80% within 3Sec)
      2.H4-3, 4300k, 55watts Bulb.

      Here are some Images:

1.content inside the Pack 2x HID bulb, 2x Ballast, all necessary wiring kit)

      2.The Ballast:

      3.The Bulb:

      4.Light Throughput :
      i) High Beam:

      ii) Low Beam:

      My Conclusion :
      1. The output of 55 watts is Much brighter then any type of car lamps in my area and also it gives more Glare on the Road
      2. Bulb gives too much of heat which spoils the Reflector (my reflector got shrinked )

Finally I wish you a Happy new year

      • Have you installed it in a projector setup or directly as a bulb?

It cost me around $60.99 for a pair and Shipping cost $54.81 using DHL(shipping cost may vary according with the fright company)
And the major change is rewinding stator is must because HID consumes 4.5A of current as normal and it takes around 9-10A initial start-up.

              • Guys completing 20K plus on odo ,2 days short almost a year with 10 services consumed , bike runs absolutely fine without any hassles , changed oil at regular intervals and between services @ approx1000 kms , only during rainy season choke assembly was stuck which was rectified , had 2 puntures on each wheels. Due to extensive use there are scratches and marks on bikes white color which is visible. I had run bike continuously for 25o ms strech completing 1150 kms in 5days, maximum speed attended on speedo was 116 km/h for more than a minute on 6th gear.best fuel efficicency achived 59 km/l and worst 44km/l at high speedsof more than 90km/h.
                Outcome of the bike
                1) good bike for daily usage and outings, highway riding is delite.
                2) doesn't change its character even after heavy usage(even after 20K , bike sounds and performers though its only 2000 kms old), high speeds (it becomes smoother infact)
3)fuel efficicency is go very good for 150cc bike in eco mode , seems efficiency is affected on no mode or pwr mode.
4)comfortable driving even after 4 hrs of continuos driving.
5)bikes seems to run better with pillion , good for family though pillion seats on higher posture exposed to wind blasts which my wife likes.
6)build quality is superb , finishing is good , feels almost maintance free.

apart from all praises ther are draw backs which can be rectified,
                1) head light should be enhanced to meet this premium quality bike , it some times difficult during night riding.
                2) suzuki should launch another model with same characterstics a smaller & lighter bike , this bike is unecessary heavy and big but can continue with this model for different liking also name these models (like access , swish , hayate , hayabusa ,unicorn , extreame , dazzler) instead of alpha numeric part no.
                3) Gear ratios(between2-3-4) seems shorter while taking off , this is felt when 100cc's shoot off from standstill , though it make me a character of GS , this may be major reason people opting for other bikes.
4)resonance at perticular RPM is felt and sometimes feels irritating, though it is still smoothest operator , engine mounts seems to be redesigned.
5)engine noise though quiet is not pleasant , noise from muffler though muted puff-puff is quiet apeasing , either should be reduced like unicorn or sound from silencer can be increased to deaf up engine noise.
6)Oil changing frequency is high in GS ,this bike is sensitive to engine oil and fuel , every other engine oil by brand and type and different fuel makes bike feel different , i had to change it @ 1000 kms or so , or else hard gear shifting or harsh engine feedback.suzi can introduce oil cooled version with greater capacity oil sump, though i have not used SS or FS oils yet.

These are my personnel feedback since its possession and fully satisfied owner of GS 150R(can any body suggest a name for this model) , i am planing for another long ride of atleast 2-3 kms shortly

                • Vikshe,

The Eterno I used to own required an oil change every 3000 kms.GS only requires an oil
change every 4000 kms - Why change oil every 1000 kms ?

Also, does ECO/PWR/None mode affect mileage or ECU/ignition settings ? I usually keep in ECO
inside the city and change to None-mode on the highway (Just to keep the LED silent). PWR
is usless for me - I have only taken my GS till 6K rpm. As per the manual, these settings
only change the behaviour of the Shift-up LED.

Like you said, I too find the some gear ratios very short. In my experience (city), 2 is short
while I can stay in 3 while following a really slow vehicle. 4 again seems short - By the time
one starts to accelerate in 4th, its time to shift up.

I have rarely directly shifted to 6th from 4th (Whenever I take it upto 5k in 4th gear).

Regarding oil change frequency , after every 500 kms or s0 after new oil run ,gear shifts used to get sticky & harsher engine , though i used to change engine oil in my previous bikes every 2k kms all 100cc's even after 80,000 kms no engine openings were requred, i just wanted smoothness to stay though its expensive to change oil this frequently.
I understend eco/ pwr/nomode are just indicators , but in no mode bikes seems refined and responsive better than eco/pwr mode with dip in mileage,as per ASC there is some electrical control in carburetor which alters fuel flow for each mode, not sure but will check it out once my bike runs out of warranty.

                      • Placed order for 500 ml Castrol DOT 4 brake fluid here at V I C K Y.C O M and transferred Rs. 192/- as cost of the fluid and Rs. 80/- as shipping charges. After 10 or so days, they called me and informed that that oil is not available with them and asked to buy TVS-Girliing which I refused.
After some more days I tried to contact them over phone, dialled more than 25 times, but in vain. So sent a message asking to supply the product I have paid for. Reminded them after 3 days and on the 3rd day after that received the following reply from them:

“Your order was cancelled due to unavailability of the product. The money is already refunded which will reflect in your account in 10-15 days of time depending on your bank”.

I was surprised as Castrol DOT 4 fluid was shown as available in their site when I placed my order and when I received this reply. Now too it is shown as in stock though the pictures shown for 205 ml. 500 ml and 1 liter is the same 500 ml jar.
Another interesting fact is that as per their site, they are not selling TVS-Girling brake fluid. This clearly shows that they are collecting money from the customers, using it for some days for their own profit, buying the product from the nearest shop and forwarding it to the customer. If it is not available at the shop, they cancel the order.
After more than a month of payment of money, they mercifully refunded the entire amount whithout the interference of the consumer court.
So, be careful while trying to buy anything from VICKY. It is nothing more than a fraud; it seems.

You can go up to 4000 kms without changing oil. But most of us are changing it in between 2000-2500 kms. I am planning to extent it to 3000 kms. Anyway, I think, a very early oil change is unnecessary, wasting natural recourses and money.
Surely the Eco/Power modes save fuel as it indicates the optimum rpm to shift up and the limit of the maximum fuel efficient rpm in 6th gear.
If you are an experienced rider and know how to save fuel, it will not be helpful to you as the Power or Eco modes do not affect the performance of the bike.
At 6000 rpm, you are moving just above 80 kmh speed which itself is high. For maximum FE, limit it to 4500 rpm.

                        • Hi Friend,

I have a white GS_150R and i am facing the below issues.
                          * Oil level is low after 2500+ Kms - clarify me whether it is normal.
                          * Shifting gear feeling very hard especially from 1 to 2, sometimes even struck in first gear.
                          * Kak-Kak sound from drive chain.
                          * Initially my bike gave 60 kms in highways and 55 in city now its dropped to 50 and 45 respectively.
                          * Harsh sound from engine, lacking smoothness.

Kindly help for fixing this issues.

how you checked oil level <check this thread to know the procedure on how to inspect oil level>
                            * Shifting gear feeling very hard especially from 1 to 2, sometimes even struck in first gear.
when did u consulted the doctor oops sorry mechanic or Authorized Service Center (ASC)
                            * Kak-Kak sound from drive chain.
are you sure its from drive chain only its better to consult mechanic or check with ASC to find what actually causes the sound
                            * Initially my bike gave 60 kms in highways and 55 in city now its dropped to 50 and 45 respectively.
mileage of a bike relies on several critria please consult or check with ASC or mechanic

reply to second querry is applicable for this too

My suggestions are in bold, are you looking out for someone to tell you to service your bike and change oil now

If its a computer software problem we can find the issue and fix it remotely by taking remote control to the affected computer.....But its different when it comes to major issues with bikes

                                1. Engine oil does not vanish by itself except the natural evaporation which is negligible. Check the floor you park the bike and the nuts and gaskets on the crank case for traces of leaking oil. Check the carburettor plug and exhaust pipe for signs of oil burning. Other sign of oil burning is smoke through the exhaust.
Sometimes the circulated oil does not get deposited back when we stop the bike. So, start the engine on centre stand, switch it off and check the oil level again for a few times.
If there are no signs of oil leak or burning and you still suspect oil loss, do a compression test at the service centre.
When you replace the oil, replace the oil filter too. Fill 1100 ml of new oil.
                                2. Release the accelerator completely so that the engine rpm decreases before shifting up. Check the idling rpm when the engine is warm and bring it down to 1300-1400.
                                3. Tighten the chain properly and lube it with EP90 or 140 oil and good grease.
                                4. How was the FE checked? Full tank to full tank or reserve to reserve methods never give accurate figure.
Check the FE again with premeasured fuel in a jar used for it. It is available at the service centre.
                                5. Limit the engine rpm to less than 4500 in every gear and avoid sudden acceleration. Whenever you hear the harsh sound, release the accelerator and twist it again gradually.
The air-fuel mixture is correctly tuned in the bike in the factory. Any alteration to it makes the AFR rich or lean. And altering it does not guarantee any improvement in FE or performance of the bike and is absolutely unnecessary until most of your rides are at places of high altitude where percentage of Oxygen in air decreases.
So, if the drop in FE is true, look for other reasons instead of doing the so called “carburettor tuning.” If adjusting the AFR is necessary, get it done at the SC with the help of gas analyzer and digital tachometer. The speedo/tachometers on almost all bikes are show pieces; not reliable. I think GS is an exception here as the readings of the tachometer matches almost correctly with the speedometer.
