i think u got the totally wrong impression for this bike after reading some discussion about brakes..
i admit that it takes the front brake lever to pull more than u need to do in the other bikes, but dude, it always stops when u want it to.. maybe 0.5 seconds later than the other bikes but it does stop dead.. the rear brake may also be a little slug but u tell mechanic to tighten it and it will be done.. its no big deal dude..
u can also argue on tht apache RTR takes 3-5 seconds(or some stats, who cares) for 0-60, whereas this bike takes 4-6 seconds... but how does it matter for the daily commuting purpose..
I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

      • Hi everyone... Got my bike after 1st service... Gear shift is smoother than it was before... Rear brakes is better now... The disc brake story remains the same... Have to pull it hard for the braking... Have to get used with it

The oil cost was Rs.200, filter Rs.31, buzzer for indicators Rs.44, vat @12% so it was Rs.311 totally for me

Changed to power mode Now i am gonna push my bike hard

          • my new gs150r

            Hello Guys,

I got my Orange GS150R 2 days ago and I am very happy with the bike. I went through this thread in detail before buying the bike and the feedback from the owners was really helpful in making the decision.

Since I have done only 100 kms, I cannot give much feedback. But here is my observations :

            • Vehicle is damn smooth.Even @ 3500 RPM with vibes its smoother than its competitors.
            • Top gears can run at low speeds and have loads of pulling power which is a huge advantage and saves a lot of petrol.
            • There is a lot of room comfort and view for the pillion passenger, though getting on and off is slightly difficult for 40+ or short people.
            • 16 L Tank is awesome, 1 bar bharo mahine bhar chalo.
            • Gear Indicator really helps first time bikers like me.
            • Digital Meter is very refined when compared to pulsar or RTR.
            • Breaks are decent enough and bring the vehicle to absolute stop if you slam both of them. I tested the testdrive vehicle for the same and I could do wheel lock and slow stop without much effort.

The vehicle is heavy (3 times my weight), and its very difficult to put center stand in a slope, for me. But the same weight acts as an advantage when zipping through traffic in ring road. The length and weight of the vehicle provide excellent road grip.

Since its my first bike I have a few NOOB questions, please help me out with them.

            FUEL :
            • What petrol is best for my vehicle ? (for the first 16L i filled shell unleaded)
            • Is it better to get full tank once a month or fill the petrol every week ?
            • Which is the best engine oil available ?

            DRIVING :
            • How do I drive downhill ? When ever i try to bring the gear to neutral when the bike is at 40-50 kmph. The lower gears (2nd n 3rd) make a "thud" sound even though I am holding the clutch completly.
            • Is there any technique to get to neutral. In 1 Down 5 Up mech I really find it hard to get to neutral.
            • After the Ignition is turned off my vehicle makes a clunk noise once...Is this normal ?

Fill petrol based on availability of cash in your wallet . Doing a full tank at least now & then is good to make sure that rust doesn't creep in to the petrol tank inside top section. Tank full and park in summer sun especially with petrol tap on is no good.

Fill in normal Petrol from a trusted pump that has a cleaner tank and don't sell adulterated petrol. Don't ask me how to find one - just ask around. Shell should be good. New Company Owned Company Operated (COCO) pumps are generally good.

Use the oil from your Suzuki SC if they pour in from 1L cans or Suzuki/Idemitsu branded drums. Else read through Engine Oils thread for suggestions on 20W40 grade engine oil.

Drive downhill in gear without disengaging the clutch. Select the gear based on your speed. Shifting to lower gears when the vehicle is moving at higher speeds results in what you have experienced. Shift to lower gears when you are reducing speed and when you are at appropriate speed for that gear. Do not ride downhill in Neutral or by holding the clutch.

The gear box frees up a bit with some more KM's on your Odo. Also, you will get the nag of getting into neutral with time. A few tips - from second gear give a slight tap in the gear shifter to get into neutral or Hold clutch, give some throttle (blip), release and then shift.

rough engine.. bole toh.. there will be sound/vibes from the engine when you try to pull a little extra from the gear i.e. in 3rd gear the moment i cross 30 kmph it starts making this sound and a little vibes, same way 4th gear around 36-37 it starts the same.. u can actually feel tht its taking a lot of extra effort for the engine to pull it.. these things are allowed if a vehicle has done 20k kms, but its new and i expect it to be smooth atleast now
anybody who rides my bike says only 1 thing - its quiet rough for a new vehicle..

Ya I actually got it from the dealer itself. Those people will not tell about this at all when you buy the bike. We need to bargain. I actually got tank cover and the ladies handle bargained for the same rate. I think these come with the spare parts of the bike. The dealers will stamp their logo in the tank cover.

Today i was on IT highway (chennai) with a pillion rider (I am around 100Kg + pillion rider is around 60Kg).... I was able to push my bike upto 95Kmph.... There was absolutely no vibes... No change in noise from engine... The bike was rock solid cool man... I love this bike

Gonna push it further when i am alone...

                        My Take on your Queries.

                        1. I have user all kinds of petrols and I have seen no difference in milage, you can try though and see if your bike responds to different fuels

                        2. Its up to you, I prefer a 200 bucks filler which gives me like 4,5 days of up and down to office

                        3. Well there are loads but I use the one which suzuki itself have for this bike.

                        DRIVING.

                        1. The correct way of driving downhill is always in Gear, leaving the throttle. Which gear depends on this level of Slope. Never drive downhill on Neutral.

                        2. No technique to get it to neutral (atleast none that I know). Its the usual way we do for all bikes.

                        3. Yes that is common, its happenes with my bike as well, and when I talked about this to the service center I found all bike have this. It some Dynamo shaft resetting to its original position......that what the Service man said...any way I personally checked it was coming from all bike so its common.
