even i know that brother,,,,, even slight change in sprockets also changes performance,,, forget chain faultsOriginally posted by vibhanshu View PostA faulty adjustment of chain can easily kill performance.
i think chain faults only include either tight chain or loose chain or dirty chain or rough ( needs lubrication ) chain,,,,,,,,,,
we are talking here about whether fixing chain problems is easy or not!!!!
so i told fixing chain related problem are not as complicated as solving engine related problems
and can be done by the SC guys who may even knowing about the engine!!!

it will take time for the zuki 150r to endanger unicorn acc to meOriginally posted by Sarvajit View Postas I said earlier, the Unicorn is seriously endangered now.
suzuki i dont know why has done very ineffective marketing
and still it has a NEW factor,,,,, so its not tried and tested for long periods now
so still people who might fear its life or even spare parts availability due to errr some say suzuki might stop suddenly
so people still go for unicorn untill suzuki gains its name
specially in the commuter market its very difficult to brake the market
specially honda 's n HH n bajaj to some extent
that is why yamaha did not even try to do that,,,,, they targeted youth n look oriented people,,,,,,,,,,, bloody intelligent and damn successful strategy,,,,,,as a result the fz and r15 were an instant hit and also there being no competitor ,,,, the r15 easily took ground,,,,, and look oriented guys,,, went for fz ,,,,,,,,, although no ruling down any of the bikes
both are good in their perspective
r15 toh i should not comment at all
but hey i am atleast happy that suzuki had the guts to come up and give it a fight!! they are already giving some fight in the scooter section
access 125 is selling,,,,, not like activa but is stealing sales
who knows one day people may wow for gs 's reliability
lets pray for it
anyways did u hear that a new version of the uni may come out with a broader rear tire

Good short review dude. Didn't you find the 3rd and 4th gear short geared and well suited for city? When I test drove this, I was thinking not so good in the 1st two gears then the third and fourth surprised me with their pull, even with a heavy pillion.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostOk, we are back from the GS 150R test ride. I had a special attachment towards it because it resembled my Fiero F2. However, the ride turned out to be completely different.
It was more like Unicorn, albeit heavier by a few kgs. Riding position very upright, stability&braking good. Rear suspension great. Digital dash looks cool. Linear power delivery, smooth&stress free engine with no vibes.
Did feel that the pillion seat is a tad high&less in width, although better than Apache&CBZ-X.
Overall a very nice package from Suzuki&an excellent executive commuter, as I said earlier, the Unicorn is seriously endangered now.DoN\'t LivE tO DiE, dIe tO LiVe

@pranay: I felt the same. Rode with a pillion. The best part I found was engine sounded the same even under heavy throttle. In fact, you hardly know what speed you are going at, until you need to press the brakes(I was at 70 in a not so wide lane). I didn't find the brakes to be bad at all.
@outworldly maniac: You are right, I also feel Suzuki needs to market their product better&instill confidence in the minds of people by providing excellent service&spares backup. If you look at the executives (unlike me), who are the target segment for this bike, they want a smooth stress free bike which they can ride to office daily&they don't wanna pay visits to the SVC for anything other than routine services. I think this bike will live up to the expectations&it should be a matter of time before executive commuters start realizing that Honda is not the only reliable bike. Still, Suzuki should have done this much earlier.
@abhi_gsr: Congrats on the purchase of the new bike! Coming to the chain problem, don't worry, every bike has some or the other defective part in it, what is warranty for! My Fiero F2 had its entire SAI (Secondary Air Injection) unit replaced under warranty due to terrible misfiring.
Anyways, I don't think your bike has a defect.
What kind of noise do you get? Is it like something scratching "khach-khach" or "tak-tak"? If it is the latter, then the chain is loose, which is most probably the case. When you take it to the SVC, just hang around when they open up the chain cover&inspect the chain slack or free play-you can do this by putting your finger below the chain&moving it up-it should not move up more than 25mm., which is 1 inch approx.
If it is the former sound, you need to get it cleaned with the appropriate cleaning agent, kerosene or something else-You will get more info on it in the manual. If greasing is allowed, get it greased&fit back with the correct amount of slack. Also ensure that chain cover bolts are securely fastened. Even after all this if the problem recurs, fight with the SVC Manager&demand a chain kit replacement under warranty!
Happy riding&do follow the run-in instructions carefully!

Hey Thanks Sarvajit for putting in your thoughts. Even i do not think it is a defect but i did not expect such niggling Issues after paying around 70k.Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post

And these SC Guys behave as if they are doing us a big favor by attending to our Bike Problems.
Regarding the chain noise, i would say it is a mix of both. It feels as if the chain is scratching or rubbing with something and you sometimes get the tak tak sound as well. The Sound is significantly more when riding doubles.
Lets see, will be going to the SC Tomorrow.
Hope they fix it and know how to do it.

The Philips Made in Germany bulb that comes with Unicorn, Shine, Splendour & Passion Plusses, FZ16 is better than the Halonix one I saw on some Pulsars and Apaches. Walk down to a HH spares shop and buy the bulb. Make sure it is Philips & is made in Germany. It costs Rs 95 there. With Honda I think it costs Rs 160!!!Originally posted by alkemyst View Posti felt the same yaar..

Don't really know how good or bad the beam is but with the same Halonix bulb the RTR gives very good lighting. The GS does seem to have a good reflector though.

what do u suggest about xenon bulbs? i see a lot of bikes on road having those, but one of my friend was telling that its illegal.. is it?I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

well, that's what even I hear... they have to be in a projector to be legal and I can 100% understand why it is so. The light is very blinding and in normal reflectors they scatter in all directions.Originally posted by alkemyst View Postthanks boss

Guys, please do not use HIDs or xenon lamps in the reflectors directly. It will surely blind the on coming traffic & there might be a disaster.Instead buy an aftermarket lamps & convert it to an HID.Else you can install Hella lamps which come with a H3 55w bulb.Originally posted by HydBiker View Postwell, that's what even I hear... they have to be in a projector to be legal and I can 100% understand why it is so. I had posted it earlier that I have changed my bulb to a Philips 35/35w.
