First of all, thanks to all you guys for your valuable inputs and suggestions on the bike..im really looking for some help online on GS and this thread is quite helpful..anyway, my intro..
Im from Hyderabad and joined this forum just yesterday .Im planning to buy a new 150 and initially zeroed in on CBZX and GS150R..So, Test drove CBZX,Uni and GS 150R..Im so bowled over by the GS that, a day later i went back to the showroom to drive it once more and those guys are kind enough to let me drive it again ..and i drove it for so long to make those showroom guys bother abt their bike. It was simply awesome, i felt techinally this is one of the most accomplished bike in 150 segment. i felt like i landed my dream bike..the bike was ticking almost all the boxes. This was all before i joined this forum..
Out of curiousity i started reading this owners thread and after few initial reviews, Sam and Hydbiker wrote them so well, i almost called the dealer to book the bike..but ,this rusting complaint, it really bothered me a lot. Though..even now, i dont see any major complaints from all of you except two...Rusting and Bike not starting even after 10 kicks or so..

But, i want complete PEACE once i bought my new bike..had many problems with my HH Glamour whn it was a baby, so cant afford another troublesome new bike playing on my mind . Rusting problem may not be there for every one, but i dont want want to take any chances with that..
I may be little pessimistic here but im apprehensive abt the quality of the material used if bike fuel tank and its neck started rustng with first 6 months of its life, Never observed a hint of rust on HH despite using it rough in rain and sun for more than 3 years.

Filling the take to almost 90% of its capacity regualrly is one solution offered to counter rusting and there are question marks about mixing small amount of oil in the tank. So, are there any precautionary measures that we can do beforehand without actally voiding the warranty from the company. I also felt during the test drive that Rear brake and gripping of tyres could be better, any body faced any issues regarding the same ?

Just because of this rusting problem, i almost backed off from GS 150R and thinking of going for the CBZX. But then, thought of taking a second opinion from you guys who are by now, first hand users of bike and experts in the matter.Any suggestions are most welcome. I could live happily with a CBZX , but if GS 150R is something better, i really dont want to miss it....Please help me out
dude dont go for cbzX(personal opinion).. except for the refined engine sound(i dont know at high speed, only at neutral i've heard cbzx sound) there's nothing special in the bike..
    even mileage is pretty bad.
if u want power go for apache..(it vibrates a lot though)
if u want medium power go for pulsar (service will be bad and i've heard after a year or two it starts giving problems)
gs is for cruising(6th gear) and comfy driving thru city with good mileage.

then again its upto u.. tell us which bike u choose in the end...

I am getting mileage around 58-60kmpl on my Xtreme. Its most powerfull 150cc bike after R15. It is releaxed at higher RPMs too, but not as much as Unicorn. Its a good handler.

I agree cbz-x is awesome bike. But my experience tells me GS is a lot smoother than it.. couldn't test extreme above 60 km/h. Under that speed I found my GS more smooth. But sound of cbz-x is very silent and pleasant. Both bikes are great at their own place.

@naveen2020 : write down ur requirements and likings. then go accordingly. None of the bikes can let u regret. All the best.

Anybody happened to see my link ? Just check how many pics can u see ? There are actually 28. If u see less, let me know. I will reset permissions.

Even my experience says GS150R is smooth when compared to Xtreme and I feel it as obvious as same capacity block is producing little less power might be smooth. Even I was in dilemma even with enough knowledge about both the bikes, But some cons on GS150R made me to step back and go for Xtreme. I dint liked the commuterish stance, its heavyness and was not able to make up enough trust on Suzuki and their After sales service. These are purely my personal opinions. No offence meant.

          @TheFalcon
How can you come to a decision about the bike just by listening to its sound while it was in idle?? I am quite curios to know that.

            +1 on that
I had a very brief ride on shadow's machine and was very impressed by the absolute absence of any vibration (not even the normal engine runnin feel).

I have tested Xtremes, Unis and ZMAs but this has to be the smoothest followed by the Uni, ZMA and Xtreme in that order.

only problem is i couldnt check engine sound or wheel alignment etc etc. only colour, dents, scratches.. stuff like that.. because the bikes had just arrived and even battery wasnt connected yet..

if i find any defect with the bike tomorrow can i still reject it and ask for another bike(before signing the delivery slip obviously) ?
will they refuse saying teflon coating is already done, we can help you etc etc ??

Hey buddy Just listen to ur heart alone...
No owner will say his bike is bad; instead Awesome
Take up a couple of test drives again and again...
Later on u shouldn't regret for what u have bought
Hope u remember what happened to Mr. Saisrinigan (Sorry to mention u buddy)

New bikes will have some small small issues, which will definitely be corrected in future...
Even when uni was released, it had minor issues which was corrected later..

                My experience is........
                This GS is ultra smooth...
Powerful enough... But due to its weight and size and of-course low vibrations, u may not realize its actual power
Decent mileage (My case it was corrected 2day by SC people)
                Lots of tech goodies...
                Build Quality is good..
                6th gear..
                Macho and big..
                Excellent riding position and comfort...

To me, i am not bothered about fancy marketing tactics like 0 to 60, 60 to 0, bhp bla bla blha..... As far as u enjoy the ride, thats all
Service, mileage are secondary factors of-course important too

About the service, I am satisfied...
Suzuki people are very much keen on the user feedbacks and working hard for improvements..
When i complained regarding mileage, they had called me from Delhi to collect feedback b4 n after service..

Regarding the rust issue, its more common in sea shore areas...
at least once in a month it is advisable to wipe out the water near the tank mouth...

Mileage purely depends on the riding condition
Doesn't matter how fast u ride, it is when u change gears..
2day, i was made to test drive with the mileage can... With Mr. Kalyan(Service Head ABT Chennai) as the pillion. I attained only 42kmpl.. but when Kalyan drove the bike it returned 56kmpl...
That proves that it is purely due to by kind of driving...
The Service people was so polite in explaining things and also did a minor service, carb cleaning tappet turning etc etc, free of cost...

To summarize, I simply LOVE this bike to the extreme limits......

                • Since i live near a highway i got a chance to cruise along a GS150 for almost 30KMs .From all the comments here i expected the GS to be silent/refined @
Higher RPM but that particular GS was screaming the engine was making a lot of noise and it could not keep up with me may be the SC guys spoiled the bike.

                  • Thanks for all the replies guys...
I spoke to few guys here who bought the bike in Hyd..and i didnt hear any complaints of rusting from them here..so,no hiccups..The showroom guys are assuring me that they will take full responsibility incase of any such issues and have the tank replaced
anyways, i have 2 more days of time to make up my mind..i will go for another round of test driving just to have that feel one more time..Its just that im more apprehensive abt this rusting trouble bcoz of my bad experience with my current bike when it was new..otherwise , i would blindly have gone for GS without 2nd thoughts...

@Guru : No guru, im not expecing the bike(built by Not so perfect Humans) to be perfect.., i just want to minimize the risk of any headaches after buying the bike ..Also, it seems to be a long wait for you before you can lay hands on your newbie..happy waiting till then..
Also, thanks to Sarvajit,Sharshas, abhijeet,Falcon,Shadowfox and mathew for your kind suggestions..
will tell you guys as soon as the bike got delivered...
Also, you ppl could tell us more about your personal experiences of after sales servicing of suzuki...

Good choice Naveen.Minor issues can be resolved easily so you need not worry. The engine is damn smooth & once you are done running in & 2 services done the engine becomes really smooth. If you like touring & you take the bike on the highway,it will perform very well & you will not feel tired even after riding 100-200kms at one go.

Speaking for the service, they are kind & will help you out a lot.I really like the way the guys here in Mumbai respond to any query put forth & are really helpfull.

So we are expecting one more member in the 6 speed gearbox family.Waiting for the pictures eagerly.

                        Good to Go Mate.

This rust issue is becoming the proverbial fly in the soup for Suzuki. It's high time the honchos there changed the vendor who supplies the fuel tanks or shifted to a more rigorous metallurgical specification for the tank.

Mate, are you expecting a Stainless steel or a Mag/Al Fuel tank for your bike??? Get to reality.... the rusting issue is not that big, just few things here, and few things there would solve it. yes, Zuki will have to do something about the rust, but that is simply not by changing a vendor. any more doubts, visit the factory in Kherki Daula and you will understand what I mean. Also, we might have one official from Zuki logging in as a member...watch out!!!!!
Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!
