and i dont think suzuki is doing anything about the tank atleast till now.
most showroom people arent even aware of any rusting problem !!!

The zapper Y is not much good...as I have seen...I have seen them wear out too soon....as i said before the Q and C are good..also the Meteor..especially for off road biking...

I hope some of the complaints that are given reach to the Suzuki people...Some of the GS owners have posted the complaints.....let us see if something improves....

ya you are right...htat some of the showroom people are not aware of the rusting problem......
but I think.....the showroom people are not aware because not much people have gone to them with the rusting problem....
it is because many GS owners themselves might not be aware of the problem....

here in Xbhp we have discussed the probs and we are aware of it..but there are thousands of GS owners who are not part of the Xbhp...are not aware of it....as nobody ever imagines that a tank will rust....it is not so common in other bikes....

    • i'm going tomorrow to suzuki showroom, i'll ask about the tyre if they'll give Q instead of Y.
anyway hows the cornering with the stock zapper Y ??
till now all the falls i've had from my bajaj wave is because i tried bending too much and back tyre skidded (at cross roads)
the side part of both Q and Y look pretty much the same to me

and about the rusting, are u sure its happening only to gs150 ?
one showroom guy said that every bike will have rust at the mouth and its common as tanks aren't painted..

      • ^^ That is not true. My 7 years old P150 has no rust in the neck. And I am sure there are many such bikes across different brands which do not have rust problems!
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Hey bro...let me know...if they agree to change...the tyres.....it is a fer shot anyway....
and also where are you buying the bike...rajajinagar ot airport road...or near devegowda petrol bunk...let me know...

That's not true..I agree with Abhjeet....my pulsar is 3 years old and I never had any rust issue...actually it never came into my mind also...

the showroom guys tell some or the other lies just to sell the bike....
the GS has some rust issues in the tank....and some people complained of rust in other areas also....like the silencer bolts....I think the problem is with the qulaity of the material or the process the suzuki people follow for manufacturing...
          they should somehow address that...

              • Hi people!!!
This is sai a new member.
Was in a dilemma whether to go for unicorn or gs150 a month back. I was going thru the gs150 ownership thread (superficially) and mostly I found complaints and when I went through the unicorn ownership thread people were more satisfied there and so I settled with a uni.
But still I feel the other side of the river greener - missing the gs150.
We normally buy a bike for its pros and drop a bike because of its cons.
Can u all sum up the pros and cons GS150, because I m seriously thinking about selling the unicorn after a year or 2 (its a worthy bike-no flaws till date) and want to see if the cons are negated in the later versions of GS150.
                Thanks in advance.

If I am not mistaken the same tyre is used for HH Extreme, Hunk, also the Karizma and even the new Uni...(please correct me if I am wrong)......I am not sure how it works for those bikes....when i look for bikes I keenly study the tyres so I know a bit of them....

My Pulsar has a 17" MRF Zapper-C 100/90...and it is really a good tyre...I have never had complaints with it.....it has good road grip and good in wet roads too....

Has anybody changed the tyres for the GS....I had read somebody had changed to Michellin soft compound tyres.....anyone else plese let know....

I checked out some MRF products...if anyone is going for the tyre change....a 18" MRF Zapper-Q 110/90 would be good for wetter surfaces....as there is no 18" in Zapper-C...

Any suggestions in tyre changes are welcome.....
I have CBZ-X with stock Y and grip is BAD!

C is felt somewhat better. Q is supposed to be better... but haven't actually ridden a bike with that one, peronally.

And I have personally seen a C on a Shogun. The size is 3.00 x 18. So how do you say that C is not available in 18" ???

                    Pros are well known.

So far this thread has been spoiler of GSR... And I think it will remain as it is until company gives a solution. I don't find any con except the rust in tank mouth.

                      Mate,
Yes the bikes you have mentioned have a MRF Zapper Y 100/90/18 except the new alloy wheel Uni which has a 17" tyre (Correct me if I am wrong here).I had the Zapper Y on my bike for almost 5000kms running at the time when the climate was dry.At that time also it use to give away sometimes but then as soon as it started raining the tyre use to skid a lot beacuse it does not have a water channel. Regarding a Zapper C no doubt it is a good tyre. But if you notice the thread design,it is much better than the Y.The Y is bald in the centre which is why it skids. The Zapper Q is also one good design but I could not find one in size 18" as at that time there was strike going on for MRF & it was me who installed Michelin M45 4.00 X 18 which is a soft compound tyre.I dont know about any other owners who have changed their rear tyre. After getting the M45 the road grip completely changed & the bike feels much more stable.

I really dont know how can one ride on a Zapper Y,may be their riding skill allows them to use that tyre but for me it is a complete NO NO.

Bro...I said that the 100/90 Zapper C is not available in 18"....now I am not sure the zapper C 3.00 X 18" has the same type of treads and design....I think both are different

If you check out the MRF site...they do not show any Zapper C with 100/90 config of 18" ...ya sure there is a C with the 3.00 X 18" ...but I do not think that tyre is used of Extreme...Hunk or even GS

As you said the 3.00X18" Zapper C can be used for older bikes I suppose as the new tyres are escpecially made for Alloy Wheels....(please correct me if i am wrong)...

Hey it was you buddy who had changed the tyre...well i was trying to remember who it was.....buddy the michellin soft compund is really excellent....MRF has a similar tyre in meteor with the same deisign and treads....but I am not sure about the compund..soft or hard....

Well I totally agree with you regarding the Zapper Y design.....it certainly does not have the grip when it comes to the wet roads.....
I had checked in a tyre showroom near by and they have a Zapper Q with 18"...it is really a better tyre than the Zapper Y....
I do not know why most of the bikes use the Zapper Y....when it is not much stable in the wet roads....

I also totally agree with you that a Zapper Y is not at all good in wet roads...i too am planning to change the tyre once I get my bike....probably a Zapper Q or a Meteor or a Michellin as you have done...

Hi bro....Congrats for the new bike...
Buddy the Uni is a more of a common bike now ...it has been long established....and all the cons have been most of all negated....

But as you know the GS is a newer one...and it certainly has better options than the Uni....Of course it will have some cons....but those are really very very small....
If you go through the this thread in details...you may find that people are complaining.....but if you go really deep....you will find that...most of the bikes have these problems...it is just that...they are already established bikes and nobody much discusses about them.....

As this is a new bike...people tend to go....too deep ...the observations are too much...and people expect the best out of newbike...thats all....

I am sure the Uni also had lot of cons...when it had been new in the market....so it is just that....

All the cons in this bike are negligible...probabaly expect the rusting prob...which not everbody has faced....it is only some people...which can be taken care by applying...some anti Rust coating....

And to be frank buddy...Pros...and Cons....take a back seat...when you really love your bike....be it any bike for that matter.....

                            • Satisfied with the average of the bike ..

Hi even i am getting the average of about 59 -60.. I am extremely happy with the average my bike is giving as of now . I have completed about 650 kMs odd and i usually drive at about 35-48 speed up to 4K rpm mark . I mostly travel on highways. I travel 46 kms daily with 30 on highways and 16 inside city . I check the average by resetting one of the trip counters whenever the bike comes to reserve and calculate kms till it comes to reserve again. Is there any other better way to check the average as i also cant beleive myself that the bike is giving 59-60 average .

But i am facing other problem , Every morning my bike does not start untill I have given 10 -15 kicks that too with choke. Even when it starts its at 1000 rpm. Its not that cold (or not at all cold ) in the morning still in pune . I was wondering then what will happen in winter season if this continues. Is this starting issue normal or do i need to sort i out at the time of my first service .

Can senior members tell me when can i go above 4k rpm mark .. as i am in break in period . Does increasing speed above 4.5k the eco mode reduce the average much ??

It has the same design and look.

If I remember correct, C comes in inch sizes only... can't recall for sure though. You can get one that is the closest equivalent metric size.

AFAIK, it makes on difference if its for rims or alloys. Its a tubed tyre anyway. Tubeless can be fixed on alloys only... but I believe there is some method/product, using which you can use them on rims too.
