      speed advice plz
I think the manual talks about 7000rpm limit after 1st service. however, my SC mechanic did not indicate any limits after the first service - said you can drive whatever way you want..

the warning light on the dash do not mean any harm will be done to the engine - they are only to help you drive in that particular mode - either power or economy. I feel that performance is little lower in eco mode. and the warning lights can get very irritating after a while also, since it kicks in at 4.5k rpm itself.

It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end.

Last weekend I went home in my GS... Here are the things noted.....
        Negatives first...
        1. Engine Choking problem continues to be as is... When i start the bike and ride it for around 20 mins,.... till them no problem irrespective of speed till 90 Kmph.... but after that engine starts to choke, I get jerks at 60Kmph at 6th gear, sometimes I get even at 44Kmph 4th gear... My instinct says there is some block in the fuel supply to the engine that gives this jerks... what say guys... did any one get a chance to discuss this with the SC guys ???
        2. Bad Rear brake is really a problem at the highways.... when cruising at say >90Kmph, suddenly some one or something comes in between, then how safe are the discs ? I did not have any problem though but still my mind still ponders about that situation.

        4. The seats could have been a little bit softer since my butt aches on travelling for 2 hrs...
        5. After choking problem sets in engine roars badly after crossing 80 Kmph mark...(I think some thing is wrong with the sound; the engine sounds amazing even at 90Kmph before choking problem sets in)

        Positives...
        1. Amazing bike in highways.... Absolutely stable irrespective of crosswinds.... even at >100Kmph....
        2. Good Higher end pickup is even more exciting i.e from 70 - 100 Kmph range.. too good man...
        3. The ride quality and pleasurable xperience is at its best....

This was my second highway experience.....

During the ride I noticed some rust inside the petrol tank as some guys have posted. [Orange GS so color is immaterial, happens for all]... Can some one help me how to demand a new tank to the SC guy as my bike is scheduled for second service this weekend....??
front discs are awesome... you can rely on it 100 %

meanwhile i went a long drive(150kms) to melmaruvathur... i stopped from 90 to 0kmph by applying only front brake i thought about rear brake only after a moment

well i will post my experience later. busy time

Buddy.....there is no problem using the front brake....actually the main thing will be controlling the bike once you apply the front brake....
and also actually the front brake is considered the main brake as per standard biking...
the disc brake is very good in GS....the perfect and a safe way to brake would be...applying the back brake and a moment after that you can apply the front brake....so that both get engaged simultaneuosly....(as the back brake is bit slow)

Even in emergency situations it is good to apply both brakes....it takes some time...but if you practice you will get used to applying brakes that way....

Anyway enjoy your riding and keep posting....

          • After reading most of the posts in this forum i'm really confused whether its worth buying this bike or not ?
Is the rusting problem serious. I see many people having that issue now.
Please help me decide between gs150 and pulsar.
I'm not that much interested in performance,i'd prefer a good looking bike which gives mileage and doesnt have problems.

            • Sorry i forgot to mention pulsar 180 ug4 and not pulsar 150.
I liked the clip on handle bar, split seat etc etc in the 180.. only -ve points were mileage of 40kmpl, and its too common.

In my personal opinion..is go with GS....Pulser is too common today....GS is far better look than pulser...if u looking for solid power,gs is not for u...if u need smooth gs is for all....i can say GS is a 2 WHEEL CAR

Hey don't worry ! There is nothing serious problem with GS. The rust is mostly in the mouth. And it goes when u wipe with cloth. That doesn't make any harm to bike. Many ppl got their tank replaced. Many bikes have rust in different parts. Don't think too much about rust. Im hoping that Suzuki will find some solution.
And buddy don't think pulsar will be free from rust. U want problem free bike then only unicorn is benchmark. If u really want smoothness, ride comfort, mileage with good looks, GS is the only 150cc bike in market !!

                  @everybody else:

I've a query. While starting my bike in morning, I pull choke all the way towards me and use kick starter. Bike just starts in 1st kick. But I don't press clutch. I want to know is this ok ? Bcos normally we have to press clutch for starting. Is it ok ?

                  • Please don't make your bike get used to choke start everday. It will refuse to start without choke later on. I have not even used the choke 5 times in 5 years on my Fiero F2. Even after a hiatus of 3 weeks, it started with a single kick.
Use the kick starter for cold starts (1st start every morning, after gap of more than 2-3 hours etc.)&button rest of the time.

                    • Each morning, I have made this a habbit:

Without switching on, kick the lever 7-8 times, simultaneously pressing and releasing the clutch. This helps in circulating oil. Then, the bike is switched on, and started in the next kick. Keep it running atleast 15-30 seconds idle, and then move on. This ensures the petrol flow is smooth, and the engines remains good for the whole day.

The thing about rust is, metal is probably getting eaten away in another place, forming rust particles and getting deposited near the mouth of the tank. So wiping the mouth doesnt really solve the problem.
Anyway i spoke to some suzuki mechanic, he said this is happening because suzuki isnt plating the tank surface.
Hopefully they'll start plating the tanks soon..

Are u sure about this ? How can particles come up at mouth and deposit there ? I've heard this for 1st time..... if rust is not at mouth, why particles don't remain at the original rusted place ?

                          • Can't we apply any rust free/resistant sprays like WD40 near the mouth of the tank??? I am a newbie so please ignore if the above suggestion is ridiculous

U can actually, but RUSTLICK works better than WD40. and btw. ur suggestions are always welcome

I think it a better idea guys....just spray the Rustlick....whever areas are prone to get rusted...and just forget about the rust issue.....
Only if it is really serious like in the tank....you can get it replaced....

Well I think the bike should not be judged by some rusting problem.....metal is always metal and it sometimes rusts....

Decide the bike on its performance...overall package....and the feel good feeling....In all these aspects I think the GS is the best in the category.....Of course there is the Uni....but the GS has a awsome road presence...killer looks.......so go for it ....
