Using 'normal' petrol along with System 2 3 is possibly the best idea... cheaper, and you know that the suff is being actually mixed, and in the right quantity.

Additive... you'll get it at BPCL bunks and some lube shops.

                    • Hi All,

How is everybody, updating after a looong time, have not gone thorugh the pages since I left......so what is new, how many new GS owners do we now have on xbhp now, last time I remember the count was on 16. How many more have been added, just curious to know.

Anyway a small experience I would like to share. One of my team mate just bought the new Pulsar 180 DTS-i 2009, the one which has all the features inhereted from P-200/220 and this was the first time I had a "good" really good look and ride with the new p180 and I was really anxious to share my experience/review with you all. Here is my small review or experience with the new P-180 DTS-i and a small comparision as well with GS.

LOOKS Very similar to P-200, same tank scope here as well as is in 200, all black finish, except the exaust which is different from 200.

The very first look does gives that omph, and when you sit on it, you immidiately have that sporty feel that bajaj tends to give I presume.

Following are the few noticible addons on New -180

Front Suspension: The bike now gets the 37mm fork assembly from the Pulsar 220.
Steering Tee:Rear Suspension, Tyre and Sprockets: The swingarm for the new 180 comes from the 220. The rear tyre is wider with a 120 section width similar to the 200/220.
Seating: The outgoing models single step seat unit has been put off an in comes the split seats from the 200/220. (Which personally I hate)

                      Egronomics and Features

This is where 200 was really scoring over others bikes and now 180 has all those features as well. 180/200 really scores when it comes to features and that is where I think it makes over to the lack of smoother ride and refined engine.

I was simpy blown aways from some of the features 200 had like the "self-cancel-turn indicators" which automatically switches off after the turn just like a car and auto headlight which switches off....if the engines is on neutral. Now every feature is available on 180 as well. Apart from this, backlit switches, LED tail lamp, side stand indicators, addes to the attaraction, how ever the best feature I like most is the self-cancle-turn indicators, which works flawlessly even on the slighestest degree turn, I would love to have that feature on my bike some day.

The orange digital console is just ok, no way near to the GS, the orange backlit is too bright and gaudy, and even the design is a bit un impressive.
Clip on handles are exactly like RTR, and gives the rider the much needed lean posture for a racy apeal. I for that matter does not like to lean too much or too long for that matter, its a discomfort for long rides.

                      Ride Comfort and Engine refinment

Now that is where almost all Bajaj Pulsars lack and the new 180 is no different, it seriously lacks in its engine refinment and ride comfort, mainly because of very prominent vibratons on bars, upper leg and feet. Infact if I can remember they are even more than 160 RTR, could be probably because of the reason that the power for new 180 has been increased to 17.02PS at 8500rpm from earlier 16.5bhp at 8000rpm. But I wonder is power worth sacrificing for the ride comfort.
New P-180 is really good for red light dashes and it really picks up well but seriously looses out when it comes to refinment. While GS is a pleasure to drive between 75-85 mark, P-180 is no way near it. Infact my friend, the owner drove GS and his 180 quickely one after another (as I did as well) and agreed GS was far far smoother that 180.
Last but not the least fuel efficience is <45 unlike what is claimed, which again I question .......is it worth to the power it delivers.

To conclude I would say new 180 is aderline on power and features but seriously lacks on engine refinment, ride comfort and smoothness. If you ask me, I would anytime put my money on Karizma which delives both on power and ride comfort.
For GS owners nothing to worry as my verdict is we are not missing much of anything...except for that "self-cancle-indicators"...

Hey Arun, first of all, it is never recommended to run the bike for long distance at constant rpm, in its run-in phase. But now that you have done it, PRAY!

About the noise, don't worry, you are covered in warranty. So even if something goes wrong, it will be covered

About the slight vibrations in the speedometer, I noticed that too. But I think that's actually an efficiency. When I ride on those same roads with a scooter, whole front shakes because of uneven surface, and I can feel the vibrations in hand. However, in GS, the speedometer vibrates a bit but you don't feel a bit.

Hey Sam9s, Glad to see you after so many days buddy! I agree with your opinions with p180. For ppl looking for sporty stance, it's good, but for long tour ppl or comfort seeking one, it's not the one.
