Hey...that seems to be a major fault, get it checked for sure during the 1st service. Also, saw you bike parled just behind mine on thursday....felt great!

Its not about the speed, its more about the RPM. In ECO mode the shift indicator bulb glows after you cross 4500RPM while in power mode, it does after 8k RPM.

        • Guys, The petrol mileage mystery continues and now thrs a little twist...

          I reported,

Reserve at 302km, and getting refilled my tank with 2.17ltrs at 307km...

Well, the News is now my ODO say 415km and still I have not switched to reserve. Which tell me that my mileage is above 50, thank god...!! Still to find out the exact mileage.

Now, something to think about is...petrol worth Rs100 is going on for more than 100km while the 1st time when I filled in Rs.500 worth of petrol, followed by another Rs.100 went only for 302km before hitting reserve. Taking 3ltrs as reserve, that means 9ltrs went for only 302km.

So what was different in the 2 scenarios..???

It was the petrol pump....The 1st 2 times I went to the dewegowda petrol bunk near apple auto while the 3rd time I went to a PP @ Mysore Road near RV College. Its pretty clear that either petrol from DG is not proper or their meters have been tampered.... What do you guys say? Any1 here a regular at DG Bunk?

          • Take a look at this

            Hello Guys,

Recently when i was checking my Bike, i noticed something peculiar on the Chain Cover. When i looked closely, here is what i saw. Take a look at the Pics. I was Shocked to say the least.

The Grey Paint has peeled off from the Chain Cover and has got rusted due to exposure. This Part is exactly below the Battery. From what i think, some Acid must have fallen from the Battery on that surface causing this. I don't know if this happened during first service or is it leaking.
I went to the Service Center and told them about this and told them i want that part either replaced or painted. He told he will change the Pipe of the Battery and will see what can be done about the Rust Issue. He indicated that it won't be possible to replace that part under Warranty.

Am going to take the Bike to the Service Center tomorrow to fix this.
Guys, please give your opinions on how i should handle this with the Service Center Guys.

            • Abhi,
The part has rusted because of the acid falling from the battery box.Just go to the service centre & report the problem also in writing(this really helps trust me) take an acknowledgement also.Ask them to check the tube which connects the acid discharge hole, whether its there or has come out. Also tell them that you want a new chain cover for the same as it is not your fault.Log on to suzuki motorcycles india website & also write to them about this problem.

all gs 150r owners here's my story
once i rode this bike with 5ltrs of petrol(with reserve ) and i continued riding upto empty i mean completely empty then i calculated the mileage then it was found to be around 53kmpl (265km odo reading till it got emptied) so (265/5=53~)

shud i calculate by method of reserve to reserve or is this method k

Which battery is doing duty in your bike?

Exides are very well known for this problem. Not only do they leak, they have a pretty low lifespan too. And now I have observed even Amco has gone the same way. Please avoid buying this trash. Best are sealed batterys like Amaron.

However, you must ensure that the drain pipe is connected, is unclogged and is routed properly before blaming the battery. Also distilled water should NEVER be filled above the max mark on the battery. Remember, most battery dealers and service centers will do this unless you stop them from doing it very pro-actively.

You should certainly demand for a warranty replacement. Take it as high up as possible. Unless you do this, the company has no incentive to use better parts.

                        • petrol confusion

I have been using shell premium petrol for my GS right from 2000km odo.

my friends told there is no difference between the ordinary and premium as my GS is not a performance bike is that true

what are the benefits of shell premium petrol to my bike?

Stick to reserve to reserve calculation. Emptying the tank completely is not recommended at all.

What are the benefits of ANY preminum petrol to ANY bike? This is the question Govt of India asked the petrol manufacturers, and they couldn't answer. You can use shell premium, but that won't make too much of a difference than normal petrol, not because of the make of your bike, but the 'supposedly' improved nature of the petrol. I found absolutely no improvement over usual petrol to the premium ones. In fact, many petrol pumps make you buy the premium one saying the usual petrol is not available. Just stick to a good reputed petrol pump, and you can use the regular unleaded petrol.
