Sam,was caught up with my work & busy enjoying my ride.

Regarding the review of the bike.Am no professional writing this review so please bear with me.

I was more than happy when I heard that Suzuki has launched a 150cc bike.Immediately went to the dealer to have a test ride but as it was a sunday the test ride was not available & i could just see the bike. The first look on the ride man...I was flattered.Said to myself "Dude ye bike le le,6 speed hai aur woh bhi Suzuki walon ki,tujhe bada maza aayega chalane ke liye".I love the bikes from Suzuki.I also own a Suzuki Fiero & I still love that bike.Checked out the bike completely from top to bottom & front to end.I was in love with this bike & I am still.Booked a blue colour since a black & an orange are common colours also blue being my fav colour.Had to wait for couple of days for the bike since the lot was to come from Gurgaon.
Finally took the delivery on 27-Mar-09 an auspicious day of Gudi Padwa. As soon as I kick started the bike......bcoz starter ki adat nahi thi na isliye could not feel that the engine is running untill I saw the rpm meter which was at 1000rpm.Put her into the 1st gear & off I went on the road & then came the 2nd,3rd,4th,5th & finally hit the 6the gear & was cruising at 40kmph that is what the big meter showed.
Didnt go beyond 5000rpm till my first service & I could still reach 50-55kmph easily without any hassles or engine knocks.

            Fast forward>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Till date I have clocked 2250km & I feel its a superb bike that I have purchased.I hav hit 110kmph on this thursday was just checking the ability of the bike & i was a little over 7000rpm mark for that 3-5secs.

Fuel efficiency:This is the part wherein most people are attracted so thats the reason I put this 1st.Well the city rides gives a preety good average of 60kmpl.Wonder how much will it give when I run on the highways.

Power:The bike has some serious power & I am really very happy about it.I know it cant do 0-60 in some 3-3.5sec but its acceleration is good. When you open the throttle you get that power any time & that is what I like in the bike from Suzuki.

Handling:The bike handles very well even when you are at high speeds & winds are blowing at you.The bike does not swiver.Oh and yes when you take a U-turn it feels so easy as if you have a power steering in your hands.

Seating & Comfort:I really love the riding comfort the bike gives. It gives a different kind of feeling altogether. The handlebar is in the perfect position for a rider & a tourer.Even the pillion seating is quite good.I just happened to sit as a pillion while my dad was riding the bike.It was so comfortable sitting behind (trust me)& enjoying the breeze & I could see the complete digital console & i knew the basic details like whats the speed, which gear & also the time so no need to put on a watch.

Brakes:The bike has a good set of brakes installed. You use them correctly & faithfully nothing will go wrong.

            Ok,now for something different.

The bike does not have a front speedo cable Shocked & still wondering how the meter is still showing the speeds. There is a small sensor which is attached to the front sprocket & through the cables, the reading is displayed.Got to see this in my first service when I questioned him"Yaar isme toh meter cable nahi hai to speed????"He said "Ek minute"opened the front sprocket cover & showed me the sensor.Amazing technology used by Suzuki as this has removed the speedo cable from our checklist of spares to carry while on a trip.

The bike is equipped with a 9amp battery if you check your bike properly & not with a 5amp as mentioned on the site.

The headlight bulb that comes fitted does not provide adequate light so got that changed to a Philips 35/35w which now throws better light than the stock Halonix.

Coming to the end of this review,I would like to say that its an AWESOME bike with cool looks, advanced technology & no to forget the 6th gear which is really a boon on the highways.

One thing I must say here, whosoever is planning to buy a 150cc bike, buy this & you will not regret it later.(However the final decession is on you,am not doing any kind of advertisement for Suzuki)

            End of the review....

            About my bike

THE BEST part of this bike, it ultimate fuel conserver....I consider myself a pretty aggressive driver and I amalmost always accelerating, overtaking, zip zapping, I have hardly driven GS below 55-60 after my first service and still under no condition I have got average less than 52-53. Usually its 55-56 which is phenominal given the way I drive.....

Power:The bike has some serious power & I am really very happy about it.I know it cant do 0-60 in some 3-3.5sec but its acceleration is good. When you open the throttle you get that power any time & that is what I like in the bike from Suzuki.
mmmmm This is first point I differ, no way its 3.5 sec, Even RTR is not that much. GS is not even close to uni in that segment. And I am not comparing the written specs, that is my actuall experience........ 0-60 for GS is just average......its the 4,5,6th tranmission that gives this bike the edge over other bikes, except P200/RTR FI I think no bike reaches 60-100 faster than GS.

Brakes:The bike has a good set of brakes installed. You use them correctly & faithfully nothing will go wrong.
Again I have seen bikes with better brakes, that does not mean this one is a dud, but I would say brakes could be better, specially the rear drum.

"Yaar isme toh meter cable nahi hai to speed????"He said "Ek minute"opened the front sprocket cover & showed me the sensor.Amazing technology used by Suzuki as this has removed the speedo cable from our checklist of spares to carry while on a trip.
Well I knew that right from the begining but is it unique with this bike?????, all other high end bikes (RTR FI, P200 n p220) do they still have cable?? ....somebody enlighten me...

The bike is equipped with a 9amp battery if you check your bike properly & not with a 5amp as mentioned on the site.
mmmm I didnt know that.....have to check that out...how did you come to know, did you look at the battery???

The headlight bulb that comes fitted does not provide adequate light so got that changed to a Philips 35/35w which now throws better light than the stock Halonix.
Thank God somebody brought this, even I felt the same way...the headlight is not at all satisfactory...(in contrary to the duel horn which is simply superb)....even I was about to ask the same question in the fourm if there is a way to change this...........I think you have done that......so does philips gives noticible difference, than halonix, I thought Halonix was the best???
what does others have to say...???

Finally even I would say this is the best current commuter bike which even has shades of a racer so that gives serious reason to go for......

              • Sam,That is what I have said that it cant do 0-60 in 3.5secs but still its very powerful.Could you please check my earlier post.

Agree with you on the brakes. What if Suzuki plans to give us an option of a rear disc brake also

Yes all these machines have a small cable running from the left side of the front fork to the meter.

Yes I have checked it personally & if you read your owners manual, its mentioned there also as 12V 9Ah

Yes Philips does give noticible difference that is what I have noted. You can get a Philips 35/35W original bulb for around Rs.100-150/-

Now this is something very important thing I want to share with all the GS owners.

Please check your fuel tanks mouth & the bottom.

Why because my tank has rusted & i say again rusted from the mouth & the bottom. This I notice just 15 days after I got my bike & I immediately wrote to Suzuki & informed the Authorized Dealer & got my tank replaced within a weeks time.I`ll post the pics soon.So please guys do check the petrol tank & get it replaced if you find rust.

I was facing the same problem.
I have changed the oil by myself and what i found was shocking.
the oil was draining of the bike like water,no thickness.
i used passion and never seen oil coming out of the bike so fast.
After changing the oil i found lot of difference straight away.
They said they replaced with Castrol. So its clear,Authorised SC can not be trusted.
Better service it outside from my regular garagewala.
i have just changed the oil, so lets see how it feels from tomorrow.

@falgun.. waitin for ur reply dude..

i checked engine oil at Shell petrol pump, they said its ok.
I was still not convinced because of my ride quality.
                            i still changed engine oil.
i have just driven 10kms after that but have found major difference.
Bike sound have changed, much more lesser and refined now.
This was the first time i found some thing missing"3500 rpm vibs".
It was there but had to find for it.
however i feel the bike a little heavy, but i am happy, its much better than before.
Still need to take a long drive.

when you Talk to these SC people you really feel that you know much more than these people.
More the bikes get damaged ,more is their earning through spares(which is their major source of earning).
We might not know much about bike mechanism, but at least we can do what is under our control.
just go and change the oil....see if that could make some difference.....Its not going to harm anyway.
please don't wait 500kms...i travelled 400 Kms like that......that's too much.

the workshop guys took some pictures of the rusted parts .they said they will send these pictures to gurgaon and then the replacement tank will arrive from there in a weeks time.i will probably get it replaced this week.

Suzuki dealers {at least in mumbai -malad} are bunch of @$$#0!$ and don't know how to properly store an otherwise excellent bike.
