first congratts on your decission let us know when you book the bike....Originally posted by sharshas View PostBut i got a question in my mind, when i took my pulsar 150cc to my home from showroom way back in 2005, i really liked the summm..... sound from the engine; i'm lucky enough that my pulsar is still maintined the sound.
Is it really necessary to minimize the sound of the bike?

The bike's sound is its identity... thats what i feel
and Yes I know, some people do like the sound from a bike but these days as thunder said preference is towards less exaust and engine sound, and more you refine the engine, less is the sound, unless you specifically design the exaust to produce one (not prefered by most)......
I think bullet is the only bike I feel the sound of which do not irritate, else personally for me less is better.
refinment I think also means, even sound at all accletarions, specially at high speeds, no stutter, knocking or missing at any cost even after considrable driving.......Originally posted by Shadowfax View PostOT: What is meant by "refinement of engine" ? As far as I know when sound is less, vibes are lesser, then only engine is more refined (?)

Will let all know when I book the bike, mean while the orange looked really cool in showroom, i personally like gray..
But getting towards orange, does orange looks good in real life?, does it fade? i have seen some red bikes which gets faded by time and really looks ugly within few years... so guys please help me to select color

If you are going to park it more in the sun, then red/orangish colors will fade away sooner. That said, all paint needs good care to last long. Get a teflon coat once in 6 months, polish it with local wax polish once a month, clean it everyday&wash once a week or whenever excessively muddy or dirty. It will look nice&new even after 5 years.Originally posted by sharshas View PostWill let all know when I book the bike, mean while the orange looked really cool in showroom, i personally like gray..

My personal favorite is the grey in GS though.

Sorry Buddy, I'm very bad in teaching lessons, more than someone teaching on this one should get the feel as soon as he rides the Machines.... Very soon u'll get that too..... I'm pretty sure someone must be out there to take u to that chapter.....

Metallic colours don't fade... may be at least not so fast... I am yet to find a metallic colour bike/car that fades colour and I live in a dry and hot city of Hyderabad...Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostIf you are going to park it more in the sun, then red/orangish colors will fade away sooner.

top speed
i touched 110kmph with a pillion in a slope... strictly speaking it gave some vibrations (rear grab rail - pillion told) @ 3,4 and 5th gear at higher rpms (>6500-7000rpm) i felt slightly in handle bars and different engine sound, though i like it
BUT @ 6th gear wow... butter smooth... didnt hear engine sound as well as vibrations... my friend is amazed by its ride... its going like electric vehicle... i was impressed... today i really felt the engine smoothness... Suzuki did a great job by providing 6th gear (good Engineering)... and i also checked the sixth gear in different speeds... its really great... but the thing i cant control myself to limit my engine speed @7500rpm
@ 6th gear it doesnt give any indication that i am crossing that limit... latter my friend told that i touched 8k rpm for few seconds... REALLY ENGINE-TRANSMISSION COMBINATION IS SUPERB

Hi everyone
I am new to this forum. I like to thanks GS150R for helping me find this forum....
ok guys let me share the GS story with you
I decided to buy a bike.... My choice was 150cc...
Pulsar - even masons and carpenters are using this bike
Apache- I dont feel comfortable with the riding position plus the vibrations(my cousin has got a RTR)
CBZ / HUNK - bad mileage
Uni- Three months for delivery
Now i was very confused. Then i saw the AD of GS in TV. Went to the showroom. Had a test ride. Bang... I found the perfect one for me
I booked it last week. The bike will be most probably delivered tmrw... Cant wait to get crazy
After choosing GS i started searching in google about the bike... And yes.. I got the right place.. xBhp
As i keep reading the posts of the owners i get excited day by day.... Waiting for the bike with my fingers crossed

@ gs owners
dont you feel the bike heavy at low speeds...... i mean good bike engineering includes well distribution of weight also right???? i have ridden almost all 150 cc bikes the are available newly........ like the cbz-x is somewhat 8 kgs lighter than gs but that does not seem so at all........ u feel it very light and see unicorn .... almost the same weight as cbz-x... but a bit more heavier...........
i was thinking of buying gs earlier but during the test ride in the city.... it was not so easy to squeeze out gaps ......... because of its heavy weight... [ i was with a pillion ]. on the highway i noticed one thing.... the sound of the engine somewhat changed when i went from 3rd gear to 4th gear .... the sound was there for sometime n then went away........ the stupid guys at cs could not tell about it.... have u noticed it?
also i felt that it is behind unicorn in taking tight turning and handling....
and the most important thing...... suspension
did u feel that it is better than uni's monosuspension....... the same in potholes ,etc.
ps : i am just asking fellow friends whether they think the same as me........ iam only talkin on a comparative basisHope is a good thing ,

I've seen many red Splendors with the paint faded (donno if that is metallic or not). That was when I decided not to buy a red color!Originally posted by HydBiker View PostMetallic colours don't fade... may be at least not so fast... Let me tell you what i feel... I am not sure whether its correct... I have seen many accidents in pulsar... the main reason is that when u apply sudden brake at high speed, the bike skids... its due to less weight so we cant get the balance to stop the bike... Will you use a 150cc bike for speeding at less than 60kmph? Then u should go for splendorOriginally posted by outworldly maniac View Post@ gs owners

I think at top speeds only the weight gives you the confidence and balance.. I think GS has been given that weight keeping this in mind
Any1 can corect me if i am wrong

Even my story was similar. Got some 60K scholarship amount on Jan 2 and decided to buy a bike. I was about to choose between XTreme and Unicorn but, fortunately, waited two weeks for having a test ride of GS150R. My friend (who owns a 1st gen Uni) and me went to the showroom to ride it and we were amazed with it's engine smoothness and gearbox. Console was very neatly designed. A lot of thought has gone into while designing. It shows.Originally posted by Bubbly View PostI am new to this forum. I like to thanks GS150R for helping me find this forum....

Good to see many GS owners (existing and prospective) joining XBHP like me
.
I happened to touch 105 kmph once. Sound and vibes are same at 70 kmph and 105 kmph. Had to really see the console to know the speedOriginally posted by ssivakumar.r View Posti touched 110kmph with a pillion in a slope... strictly speaking it gave some vibrations (rear grab rail - pillion told) @ 3,4 and 5th gear at higher rpms (>6500-7000rpm) i felt slightly in handle bars and different engine sound, though i like it

And yes @sharshas, the "big bike feel" is also one of the reasons for me buying this bike. Please don't hesitantly book the bike. Do bargain and settle for a good final price. I bought the orange colored one. Though it isn't as flashy as say yellow Apache or Karizma and dull as black one (not so perfectly maintained), it surely looks sporty and you could notice many heads turning at your babe.Originally posted by sharshas View PostWill let all know when I book the bike, mean while the orange looked really cool in showroom, i personally like gray..

Orange/red colored bikes fade?
Is it so? Could any old red bike owners enlighten me...

well if one has been driving a 135cc all these years, he is bound to feel a huge difference and it does feel heavy in squeezing out the traffic in comparision to any 135 but I personally have not fellt any noticiable issue/problem, not that I can say its a problem.Originally posted by outworldly maniac View Post@ gs owners

The sound thing can be due a less tuned (new) engine, alway prefer to test ride a bike which is atleast 800Kms old. I test drove GS at 3 different showrooms. The first one ws not that at all satisfactory, pick up was not that impressive and sound was breaking while suddenly accelariting, but I atleast felt the smoothness, it was the second and third test run I was sure this is the bike. The third bike I drove was driven 1000Km and so gave me the actuall true diving pleasure.....
Coming to suspension I personally feel monosuspension is just a look thing and does nothing to far as comfort level goes, GS rear suspension is at par with any bike out there.....
================================================== ===============
Ok coming to the most waited update of all........the bike's top speed, before going any further I would request people to read my previous post when I touched the bike at 111.......yesterday I thought to push the bike to its limit (strictly for testing) and I would say the bike's top speed is close to more or less 117/118 Km/h, well technically speaking I was at full throttle at 114, the bikes rpm indicator lit up just one notch before the full throttle probably indicating you are reaching full throttle, after that its just conditions that can pull you further like the wind speed, sitting posture, road slope etc. I managed to reach 117, but as I said earlier I seriously think it does not matter how far you reach after 110 coz its absolutely crazy driving at that speed, no one should drive these 150ss at that speed, both for personal safety and bike's life as well. Just for an argument sake one can say ....yea my bike reached 120 mine 125, but as I said after 100/105 it does not make a difference. 100/105 should be the max speed for any judgement for any 150cc ans 90 should be the optimum speed on highways......
Anyway I would also like to mention that there was no sign of engine fatigue even at the max speed and smoothness level was same as it was on 80.
BTW what happened to our roll call, think we did not cross 6th owner, ae there only 6 GS owners on xbhp.... :-)Last edited by sam9s; 04-16-2009, 03:27 PM.
