realistically i would say that mileage is around 50-55 for ppl who ride normally..45-50 for ppl who ride in the city..stop and go types and 40-45 for ppl who drive fast...

my mileage is a constantly around 45..
I have tested on a monthly basis with no of times visiting petrol pumps , this is how i test(track) my vehical milege.
empty tank before filling if possible or see how much is there , record how much you fill every time for this whole period , drive normally as trafic & conditions permit . once you have reached at a stage where remaining petrol is equivalent to last recorded one you can just get differnce in odo / no of liters filled , this will give you real drive mileage with all wastages evaporations included , mine got 54 KPL ( hot climate presently)in any driving condition
45 seems low as per GS standard even under rash drive, drive at upper gears as much as possible smoothly in eco mode . 60 KPL is doubtfull but achievable.
I believe as some one indicated that this bike adapts riding style of the rider.
Drive safely , love thy your byke.

      • Congrats Samshalu.

I think you are the GS owner (with most miles on odo) who is active in XBHP. 60K in 2 years is not a joke and it shows the reliability of the engine .

Thats good info , we have GS who have covered these figures , hope they do not encounter any large problems (Engine overhaul , smoky exhaust and all that).
We can replace with good brand while replacing chain sets , any body have info on drive chains , i think stock chains are not choosen properly with design.

Hope there is no change in any dynamics of engine and other drive train even after heavy usage ( as expected from quad Japs) ,
by bajaj bikes(Kawa DNA champion , boxer) always sounded and responded differently through out there illustrous careers though covered more than 70 K each over 9 years.
My brothers ist gen Activa is as strong as new after 95 K ( changed CVT belt, cent clucth no of times, but engine is untouched.
Expect GS to last that long , this will be perhaps my last 2 wheeler and will be there forever.

                Welcome to the forum..

@Vikshe - I have tried everything other than actually fiddling with the carburetor for getting good mileage..the best i have got on my bike is 48..but it is consistently near 45..

@All - Bangalore Junta...where can i original MOTUL oil for the GS. Also anyone done a DC change?

It might well be the last two-wheeler for many of us since the fossil fuels are becoming hard to find. Its just a matter of another 10 years until we run out of fossil fuels if we keep using it at the current rate.

Where can you find duplicate motul? Ive bought 4 cans till now from 4 different shops in bangalore. None seemed to be a dupicate....all had proper company letterhead, sealed lid and mfg date, batch no & price printed on the back label and were in the usual bottle design of the company.

The only thing that seemed a bit out of character on one of the bottles was a cheap sounding "label ke peeche kya hai" tag for their usual money back offers.

So, how do you identify a duplicate motul?

That kind of puts things in perspective. I'll just have all my fun on this bike then, instead of waiting for a bigger one.

Not to mentions no of new user added every moment ,we are too dependent on fossil fuels till we have another alternte source which is unlikely in at least 10 years there is no alternative either to stop transportations , we have to do traveling , Still there are larger gas guzzlers ourselling GS(Suzuki's cool marketing ).

But won't that void so called warranty , SC guys are not willing to pour outside oil other than there own( though i have changed once with elf moto gold with better results), where do we find oil filter if they refuse to give.

Has any one changed color of backlite LED's in this forum , one guy overtook me on grey GS with white backlite consel ( too gorgeous with size of this speedo). was excited but could not catch him , he just vanished as i left the chase.
