to get better mileage On city road i used to stay around top range of the ECO mode i mean between 3500 to 4500 Rpm

Even i am trying here to buy a mileage test can, but the shopkeepers have no idea what it is, with the same strange look on me.

i never used such kits just go by reserve to reserve, with the kit you start the vehicle and drive till the bottle gets empty.

don't you think thats almost like driving on high way ?

in real time city drive once we filled a littre of petrol, we used to park the vehicles at least 10 times and start it 10 times stop it 10 times idling a lot rite

am not stooping you from buying the kit, its cheaper you can give a try but the result wont be the accurate city mileage but it may be much closer to a long ride mileage

Meet was planned last sunday but no much response except from myself, madhu and ashok.. How about this weekend?@MSN, @2strokerama @Kirtimannan and all others

    • Highly appreciate the comments by MSN1, Punarvasu.

I don't think I have the time or patience to check the oil viscosity on a regular basis so 900-950 kms will be my time to change the engine oil and i guess it will be almost after 9 months considering my riding (odo) stats.

@2Strokerama: no offence taken man.Its all in good humour and heart

If so, change it at the SC just before 30 days from the date of purchase. Otherwise it will affect the warranty.

my first service is over mate.So basically, you are telling i have to change it in my second service even if my odo reads say about 250 kms then right?

The first oil change is due in 750-1000 kms or 30 days from the date of purchase of the bike, whichever is first. The second is at 3500-4000 kms or at 90 days. Please see page 6-4 and 6-5 of the manual.
If the oil is not changed accordingly, the SC may refuse to replace parts under warranty.

I have thoroughly checked the manual. The SC guys asked me if i want to change the engine oil during my first service. To which i replied 'NO' citing the odo readings. If warranty is the issue of concern i will change the engine oil in my 2nd service(due in feb) or will request them to do it in third(by then my odo will read 400kms i hope )...anyways thanks mate....This forum is doing a fab job....

I think you are mistaken. As per the user’s manual, the engine oil must be changed at the time of first servicing which is due between 750-1000 kms of ride or at 30 days from the date of purchase of the bike. That means the oil must be changed if you ride the bike more than 750 kms in one or two days or within 30 days from the purchase of it even if it is ridden for a mere 5 or 10 kms.
As far I can understand, the oil is not changed yet and the 30 days limit is over now. If it is so, get it changed at the earliest and ask them to record it in the user’s manual. Otherwise it will surely affect the warranty of the bike.
Do the next services as per the schedule in page 6-4 of the user’s manual.
The confusion is due to your statement that you serviced the bike at 150 kms and the oil was not changed without mentioning that the bike is one month old.

Not Recommending, Not suggesting but just telling that what i did.

my vehicle is in good shape in terms of mileage and performance.

during the the initial days i changed oil at 250 kms, 750 kms, , 1500 kms and and 3500 kms. after which am changing oil at every 2000 to 2500 kms.

am not following number or days for oil change interval only going by odo, may be i will change oil if the bike is kept idle for more than 20 days, with a 500 + kms used oil in engine.

remember there are few exceptional instance happened with engine oil, example our vishnu fiero is still running with the same oil for more than 1 lakh kms on odo with out any issues, go by what your bikes heart says (yeah i know that needs enough patience to understand and be in sync with the your dear machine)

again no offense dear am just telling what i did, wasn't forcefully feeding someone against the manual specification.

Sorry man. My bike is not in a good shape. I need to get some work done on it. The handling is waaay off, front brake is spongy and has very unpredictable bite and the bike accelerates very slowly now....air filter is clogged and nearby SCs have no stock for a week atleast.

Im just managing my daily commute...all the fun is gone from my bike. So, no point in me coming to any meet till its fixed.

                      --------
Does anyone have clutch slipping issues? The pull you get when you release the clutch while accelerating is gone in mine. Im using castrol power 1 15w40 now.

I clearly mentioned it was my first service and the odo read 150kms....In fact the Sc guys didnt force me to change..they just asked if i want to change the same....to which i said will change it at a later stage after the odo records a few more kms..thats it..i guess the SC guys were nice anyways will keep that in mind....
