  • Finally had my first fall with GS yesterday
Nothing to worry about both me and my horse are well and healthy.
Fall happened while taking a right turn @20kmph speed, some guy from opp almost came to my lane..so braked a little hard and before i could react i was on ground...!!!
It was a cemented road so might be the traction was less but really don't know whether the front wheel locked up or rear skidded.

All is well at the end..no scratches anywhere except a very small on the crash guard. But today while riding, i am feeling that the left side of the handle bar is a little high..might be a feeling or a bent ..need to check with SVC...

True, for the first time ever after purchasing my GSR, I passed two GS150Rs at two different sections of the city yesterday.Whereas, just a year before, my bike was perceived as an imported model.

This despite the fact that Suzuki still has no functional SVC or Dealerships in my city.People got to know GS150R from a handful of few brave souls and are now going for this machine, which is perhaps the best 150cc bike in India.

On another note, the two new GS150R riders were taken a bit aback as they watched a screaming hull that looks like their own bikes passed them at an unbelievable speed and accuracy and showering daylight at night..........I was just smiling at their awestruck looks in my RVMs

Anyway, apart from this, can anyone tell me, that in the poll section above- what kind of foolishness is going on ???
The number of slowest GS riders are most on this forum ???- do we have that number of GS150R owners here at all ?

The rest of the polls looks fair though.

        • Changed Oil to Motul 3000 4T 20W40(after reading comments about this oil brand here), Feel the clutch, gear shift and engine sound to be smoother. Not sure what oil did SVC guys used on my bike's last two services. Third is pending in another 200 kms.

@All, please advice, i want to change over to Fully Synthetic after 2k kms. ODO will have a reading of 7500(current reading : 5500).

          • Usage of DIODE can solve Blue light issue in GS150R console

            Thanks Kripscorp,, your good name?..

            EDIT:::

Again opened it today to confirm whether I'm getting the voltage at Yellow wire when High beam is ON,.. Made sure it's coming and came to a conclusion that the work is within the intsrument panel... Surely ,there will be diode connected in series before the LED which is stopping the +ve volt to pass through.. As I said earlier I'll make it up this week and check the culprit and let you all know...
Man, I think usage of a DIODE (in series) in the yellow wire which feeds current to the blue light will solve the problem ....

Change to semi synth now....and then to full synth after 10k kms.....also replace oil filter whenever changing the grade.....

Your info is valuable, this is latest 2012 edition were all flaws are solved like rustings some points are there( , chaing cover , nuts)-Ignorable, visor loosening (new edition has totally different visor--major change) , still check it again and indicate SC in next service for tightening of all related parts.
As for vibes previously after 4K RPM , it was almost vibration less , but now they are contining above that range with lesser effect , specially at right foot pegs (tingling), sometimes i have to stop and scratch my foot palms . I doubt engine resonance ( amplifcations perticulary)is hapening in accordance to muffler resonance( there is heavy vibrations at central part of the silencer @ideal 1500-3500- 5000 RPM .will do some research if time permitsto track it out.
Regarding performance , i have 20 yrs experience with 2 wheelers almost all bajaj products 100 cc cat , for me 150 cc was total udgradation
Had booked expensive Honda Dazzy which has kick start issue with tiny battery, but due to attitude ( Honda supply chain as a whole) had high lead time , which is there USP , at least they think(Unicorn another great machine has 8 months even after 7 years of launch , Hyped , you can get it from so called subdealer with 8-10 K extra bucks same day, what a bussiness strategy) , bajaj sells 30 -40% of total sells in this cat within 1 week lead time.Yamaha has 15 days (understandable with some good products , equally selling well with bajaj & TVS) i cancelled and got this white one in one stroke- though i am just 5.2 , 58 kg, just could not ignore the technology at this price ( GXR DNA) , comes from manufacturers of Busa , gixr , intruder & cars that put our nation on four wheels.
GS is in its class of its own, It is not sprinter like other bikes, but takes off smoothly (sounds like local train) , gradually picks up at faster pace and is breeze at speeds , this is actual requirement in todays traffic (safety).
R15 ( differnt class)can boast of performance, aggreed no comparision but at a price (Almost 50% for both updated models)
Fuel efficiency is class leading , i have acheived 54 Kpl in any driving condition (Mumbai peakTraffic) 59 lts till date with 3216 odo @ average speeds of 53 (stop go max @ 80 KMPH).i don't have any idea about other manufacturers actual figure ( may be better ), but with 149 kg , 13.8 bhp, 150 cc this should be best , not to consider comforts and safety this machine provides . Our dealer in Panvel near Mumbai had recieved 125 bookings for GS last month (they are surprised with this outcome), where comfortable with access bookings.
I have not traveled on long distances yet due to hectic schedules , but some sub 100 kms with family at matheran , Lonavla.
Will plan a long journey soon . will keep informed .
How do you have such patience to write....
Anyways....ride safe and keep us updated with pictures.....also if you don't mind us then even the mumbai guys can accompany you to ride.....

dude, what about the already present diode.. after removing or changing its polarity only it'll work isn't it..

Nowadays I could see some dealers here SMK & JAV has started their marketting to promote GS by posting banners behind MTC buses...

                • Effects of excessive air boost to the engine.

The above picture shows the irridium spark plug that I deployed on my bike when I boosted it with super charger. But it seems that the AFR is so lean on my bike that the Irridium plug burnt white.......fully white, and it is definitely the matter of concern now.AFR has high presence of oxygen but low concentration of fuel as a result of which the carbon signatures on the plug, are next to nothing.

I have switched to stock spark plug for time being, but everything is well indicative of increasing fuel feed with respect to the air feed now.Or I have to keep changing plugs every now and then. Also it indicates that the engine is overheating.

After getting admission in an Engineerer college I was in search of a bike that I can use to go to College everyday, the college was about 32kms far.So I needed a bike with good mileage, power & speed.
Being a college student it should look good as well.On researching I short-listed a number of bikes that will suit me & also not exceeding my budjet. Here's a list of bike's that short-listed:

1)Hero Karizma R:This is a bike that I really liked, its size, the looks, performance, power all was good enough for me.My friend also owns this bike I rode it & felt its really smooth. But also came to know that it has many complaints & mileage was also low & was over my budjet too,so cutted it off.

2)Honda CB Unicorn:Personal I didn't like the looks of this bike, looked dull. But having good mileage & smooth engine I though of going for this bike & I almost did booked the bike. But as always Honda put the waiting period of 6 months to get the bike which I couldn't as my college would open in just 2 months. So this wasn't an ideal choice & the other bike Honda CB Dazzler it looked over styled & I didn't like it at all like the bike.So cutted of both the Unicorn's of my list.

3)Yamaha SZ-At that time just the first SZ model was avaiable,it is really cheap..i say too cheap for a 153cc engine.Didn't like the looks & the its cheap fibre body.Cutted it off at that moment itself.

4)SUZUKI GS150R-At first I didn't exactly know about this bike.I remember seeing the 'DRIVE ME CRAZY' Ad on TV & Magazines.I did research on this bike.Read many of my friends reviews.Another thing was in my area there where no Suzuki GS150R bikes. So was in a doubt whether I should go for this.It was a leap of faith trusting Suzuki.Through researching the web,I understood the quality, refinement, power of this bike.Final decided to take a test drive, went to the Suzuki Dealer & took the test drive. The bike's huge size & majestic tank really caught my attention. The engine sound was very different & engine & gear was super smooth, the intial pickup was low.It was a small test drive even though I fell in love with this bike's looks & super refined engine. The bike was well priced & had technologies more than any other bike.Booked the bike & said will be ready in 2 days.
Finally came the day i'm going to own my beast.Saw my beast waiting for me at the showroom, they were doing some finishing touch ups. Finally after some time, they finally handed over the keys to me & then I owned my Beast.
This is what happened two years back, now lets come to the present.

                        TWO YEARS OF SUZUKI GS150R

Today on 28/2/2010 I brought this bike. You might have observed me using the word 'BEAST' throughout this review to describe my bike, thats beacause it looks & feels like one,its huge size is one & unlike other bikes this bike has an Aluminium engine along a metal tank & also more metal less fibre is used in this bike.So the bike's build quality is solid & one of the safest bike to ride every similar to the Royal Enfield bikes.
Till now I have not faced any major complaints.Getting a mileage of 54km/L even at hilly terrains as I live in a high range area.Had done a maximum of 458km a day on my bike. There was no discomfort & the engine never becomes tired in long riding even above speeds of 80-100km/hr.I would like to say this is one of the best tourer bike avaiable in India now.The good mileage along with the huge tank that can store upto 19 litres of petrol & 6 gears of speed to cruise the road, its an increbile feeling this bike offers. The Dual Nitrox suspensions does well in bad roads & gives a comfort ride for both rider & pillion rider.I have achieved a top speed of 121km/hr,other GS150R owners have pushed to 135km/hr.Even though the intial pickup is low the real performance of this bike kicks up after 60km/hr,then this bike effortlessly reaches 100-115 km/hr.The XTP Technology enables such performance at mid & high range speeds & the Engine Balancer Technology(EBT) reduces the engine vibrations & thus no vibrations even at top speeds.
In this long run I have faced a minor complaint such as replacing of the switches as the bike was kept in rain,so make sure that u cover the switches with a plasitic in rainy conditions.Other than this no other complaints upto date. The Suzuki's Servicing is really good, all are well experiened & trained people though in some the servicing is really bad,I suggest you file a complaint against them at Suzuki Motorcycle India's website.Suzuki is very observent & will take take action at the quickest.
I'm fully satisfied with my bike, the bullet-proof engine of this bike will last for another 10years with less maintenance & complaints..I want to keep it.
If anyone is searching for a 150cc bike or a true value for money bike that you want to keep for yourselves for years, then always remember to include Suzuki GS150R in your list as this bike is of now one of the best 150cc bike at true price value. This bike is unique in its own way & is capable of calling itself 'A CLASS APART' comparing with the larger displacement bikes for it huge size & appeal.Hope you guys enjoyed reading my review.Do reply & give your suggestions.
                        ownership experience approved and merged.

Met a GS owner today at the SC. He has covered about 87,000 kms on his 2008 model GS. He has no complains other than the frequent loosening of the chain of the bike.

I still have my doubts with ppl claiming 60+ mileage..this is based on the "mileage test" using bottle method..it is not a reliable test...

realistically i would say that mileage is around 50-55 for ppl who ride normally..45-50 for ppl who ride in the city..stop and go types and 40-45 for ppl who drive fast...

my mileage is a constantly around 45..
