You can do a search in the used bikes market and I'm sure you won't be able to find even a few Suzuki bikes. This is because people who own Suzuki bikes don't look to sell them. And people who sell them do it only because they're bored of riding the bike. Not because they have engine(or other) problems like some bikes from other brands. My dad sold his 12 year old Fiero only because he was bored of using it for so long. Similarly, you can still see a lot of Suzuki Fieros roaming the streets while a lot of bikes from that era have vanished. Also, Suzuki bikes are some of the most mod friendly bikes.Originally posted by manas34 View PostSo how is the bike still same or different is engine fine or needs to be opened?
Hope this gives you an idea of the reliability of the Suzuki motorcycles, an answer to your doubts and something to argue with your friends.
Japanese engines, whether Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki or Suzuki are known to be bulletproof. With a little affection from your side, you can easily expect the bike to last more than a decade. In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

No way short comparision with bajaj , if you go throughout this thread , hardly any body has even opened the engine for any repaires expect for some modification for thier own purpose( can follow different thread for different manufacturers, specially bajaj , honda for outright comparision, people will not lie to express there griviences and problems). bajaj or any indian bikes give better performances figures but take toll on maintainence that too early( 1-2 years), expensive too. this vehicle should last for quiet a while without any problem , if SVC is a problem , try nearest svc possible, parbhani, latur(MH) for atleast 3 initial services .Originally posted by manas34 View PostGuys tell me the maintainence of gsr in total u spent on it ,odo reading and how old is the bike...I seriously wanna know it fast, i have booked the bike which will be delivered in last week of june and everyone is saying me to cancel the booking as they say "suzuki ki engine do saal mein khul jati bajaj ke waise aur maintainence bhi bohot hai" getting a bit confused...: And at my place Nanded(MH) their is no svc
Use of good quality fuel , regular oil change is enough to maintain your vehical. We indians are emotional while making vehical purchase and depend on market trend , on contrary GS 150 R is best 150 cc bike available in the market , quality wise , loads of features with reasonable pricing , best in class FE. your will not regret for your decission. Happy riding , ride safe.
Suzuki ....again gets free marketing ...

Suzuki GS150R is one of the best bike when it comes to quality, reliability, less maintenance & engine life.Pls don't listen to those fools..u can't compare a Pulsar with GS150R...GS150R is a brilliantly engineered bike & also its a Suzuki.Originally posted by manas34 View PostGuys tell me the maintainence of gsr in total u spent on it ,odo reading and how old is the bike...I seriously wanna know it fast, i have booked the bike which will be delivered in last week of june and everyone is saying me to cancel the booking as they say "suzuki ki engine do saal mein khul jati bajaj ke waise aur maintainence bhi bohot hai" getting a bit confused...: And at my place Nanded(MH) their is no svc
Other than the normal maintenance this bike needs no other further maintenance...this bike doesn't have much complaints also.
Don't listen to what others say, this is a genuine Suzuki bike which has a bullet-proof engine that will last longer without much complaints & along with less maintenance.
No SVC near u is a problems, but as I said before this bike is great for long distance riding...so just ride till your nearest SVC.
So all the best for your new beast, just go for it..don't think anything.. Trust me..

Yes you can , provided he is too good and knows his limitations, you can service basics like washing(Hyped JobOriginally posted by manas34 View Postcan i service the bike by good local mechanic after first 4-5 servicing?
will it create any problem for bike?
by most service personnal) , oil changes , filter cleaning , spark plug cleaning , chain tightning , cable adjustments etc( which most mechanics do it any way for all vehicles). you have to replace oil filter( occasionally though) and will not be available locally , you can purchase from SVC.
Only take care all services are done infront of your eyes , do not let them fidle with carb ,engine, electrical setings and do unnecessary R &D ( let authorise suzuki SC do this if really required

The engine is fine. No problems so far.
You can give it to a "GOOD" local mechanic, no problems there.
You may not get warranty if you stop going to the authorized svc though.

You need to finish 15 services at the ASC to avail the warranty. But since there are no quality issues with the bike, I don't foresee any situation to claim warranty. You can get it serviced by your local mechanic. By the way, the services in the ASC are nothing more than cleaning of the bike and oil changes. There is a maintainance schedule mentioned in the manual which you can follow if you are getting your bike serviced outside the ASC or yourself. But for spare parts, you need to visit the ASC.Originally posted by manas34 View Postcan i service the bike by good local mechanic after first 4-5 servicing?

Suzuki bikes were always known for their reliability,GS150R is one of the best when it comes to quality of engine and other parts. No other 150cc bike can come closer to its quality except for unicorn. If you go through this ownership thread you will not find any quality issues with the bike or its engine. It rock solid at high speeds,a well engineered bike can only do this.So need not worry you will be very happy with it.Originally posted by manas34 View PostGuys tell me the maintainence of gsr in total u spent on it ,odo reading and how old is the bike...I seriously wanna know it fast, i have booked the bike which will be delivered in last week of june and everyone is saying me to cancel the booking as they say "suzuki ki engine do saal mein khul jati bajaj ke waise aur maintainence bhi bohot hai" getting a bit confused...: And at my place Nanded(MH) their is no svc

I surely am missing something.

Kindly let me know what you mean by good servicing. As far as I know, in any SC of any bike, it is nothing more than washing, oil and oil filter changing, adjusting the chain slackness and pouring a few drops of engine oil here and there as lubricant. Some SCs are doing the Teflon coating and adding some liquid as oil additive for their profit without your consent. What else is the SC giving good servicing doing?
Some months ago, the oil filter of a reputed bike was not available for a long period of time. All the bikes including those for first servicing were serviced without changing oil filter. Nobody noticed it and nothing has happened to any bike.

Air cleaner, headlight bracket, fork oil, sparkplug and chain cover nuts are the parts I have replaced in my 23,000 kms old GS.
Other replacements are the brake fluid at about 13500 kms and the usual oil and oil filter changing in every 2000-2500 kms.
I am having a 1.3 lakh kms old 2000 model Suzuki Fiero in excellent condition. Its engine or gear box is not yet opened.
Please do not try to compare GS with Bajaj or any other bike.

(I wanted to try tightening the chain few weeks back, but the nuts and bolts are way too tight and i couldn't even move it a little with the spanner so left it off)
Oil filter can be used for 8000 kms. Use 27 and 22 mm socket spanners with lever to loosen rear axle nuts to tighten the chain. Be sure that these nuts are tightened at the correct 65 Nm torque. Otherwise, it may cause frequent loosening of the chain and vibration of the bike.
You can do all these yourself and keep the warranty valid by handing over the service coupon to the SC and can approach the SC for any repairing works.Originally posted by manas34 View Postcan i service the bike by good local mechanic after first 4-5 servicing? will it create any problem for bike?
