What you said about the RTO is new information. Thanks for providing it and please let me know whether a new RC is given because laminated RCs are given here.

Asking to ride carefully is foolishness but be more careful as you are a regular night rider.

Thanks for your care words mate.
As you said, riding careful is nothing works in indian road but riding with luck-full may help here

      • @Dr.Arul,

Nice to hear from you after long time..Nice upgrades BTW

        @All,

I would like to wish my bike advance Happy 1st Birthday (09-May-2012) today itself as I won't be with her on 9th. Will have to keep her idle for 15 day since I will be away for a trip for 15 days
What a year this has been. Covered over 13.5k kms in this year with 3 small to medium sized trips and a daily commute of 45 kms.
She still looks vibrant in those orange shade and even to this day I do get stare from others in signals.
But the situation is bit improved in Bangalore w.r.t the sales of GS as I can spot 2-3 GS out of 10 150cc bikes..
Hats of to Suzuki for giving us this gem of a bike.

        @Kirthiman
Congo on the mods and if possible I would like to take a TD on your pimped GS once I return from my trip.

          • Hi guys, it has been long time since i have come to the thread...but really gud to see some avid gs lovers....personally i have had gr8 experience with gs. Till now i have done 40K kms in 1yr 10 months. I am daily riding about 80-90kms and i must say the 6th gear is heavenly. I have missed a few services, what can i say work keeps us so busy. Any way apart from that i am getting about 50-55 kms average while riding at speeds of 60, and i think that is great.

As for oil , i don't use castrol never liked it been using gulf pride 4t plus and found it better than Motul personally.

One advice to all gs owners, just push oil and a little bit of care for this baby and it would not disappoint you. My biggest expense has been changing the clutch plates and the chain set but that can be expected looking the kms clocked by me.

              • Hi experts, URGENT HELP REQUIRED....i have completed 650kms on my GS, but yesterday, i checked mileage and was SHOCKED to find it 39kmpl. Whats wrong with my bike, i think i am following proper running in by keeping rpm nearly 5000 or below. I asked Suzuki service ppl, who say it is OK before first service. But, on this forum, no where i found any one getting less than 50kmpl....i wil heartly appreciate ur support.

I guess its okay. Initial mileage is usually low because there's more friction between cylinder and piston.
If i remember correctly, even my bike's mileage was around 35-40 for the first 300-400 kms.
If its still bad after 1000kms, then you can ask service center to tune the carb and try to improve it, but for now just leave it.

You can try going above 5000 rpm occasionally since you completed 650kms, try going up to 6.5k, it'll help the running in.
And hope you have been varying rpm continuously and not keeping it constant for a long time.
Try not to ride at very low rpm too. It wont help run in.

                  • Hi, first of all thanks for ur support.
Just to mention tht i kept rpm nearly 4500-5000 for the first 70-80km. then i started to accelerate the bike freely in each gear till the shift indicator glows up i.e. 5000rpm, followed by decelerating the bike to below 5000rpm and again accelerating it. This has resulted in a maximum speed range of 50-65kmph. I have even started sharp cornering, to 'run in' the tyres as well. After crossing , 500kms, I realized that the oil has turned dark and dirty. Therefore, to avoid excessive wear to engine, I started riding the bike rather softly till I get first service done. I was using IOC's Extra premium petrol so far, but 39 kmpl has really startled me.
Pls. suggest me if there is anything wrong, and, pls. give ur valuable inputs. I want to always see my GS baby healthy and fit . Thanks in advance.

You can use normal petrol if you have quality bunks in your region , after first service every thing will be sorted out , just ride in eco mode and donot deviate manual guidlines for first 750- 1600 - 2000 kms or so ,

You can check out different authorise service centers in your city , they are unlikely to change any original parts if you get deliveries within 2 hrs for servicing in front of your eyes offcourse ,be cautious if you are suspecting something fissy, before servicing and on reciept of the bike.
It is advisable you do the servicing from ASC only to avail warranty in case.

                            100% TRUE.

My Side panels and seat were changed when i reported them to have some issues.

My Friends Front mud guard (Slingshot) was changed

Both the cases from the next bike standing there.

I was not allowed to watch my bike being serviced. Had to wait in the customer wait room in the basement for almost 3 hours.

But Warranty becomes void, if you do not do company servicing as per the manual. Also lack of knowledge about the bike with most of the local mechanic. Try to be first when the SMK opens (8 AM). Tell that you come from a very long distance and wait there till your bike gets serviced. it should not take above 11 if yours is the first bike.

And to add, SMK is the best servicing in Chennai as far as I know and I heard.

There is a new showroom Balaji Suzuki at Padi (Near Lucas) and also SM suzuki at Padi. People at SMK told that SM is a part of SMK suzuki.

                            • Dent & Scratch

Hi masters from Kolkata, Need small help.

Last night one f**ing truck driver had hit my parked bike while backing & it fell on the right side on stairs. Resulted in little scratch on the faering & small dent + small but deep scretch (3 places) on the right side of the Tank.

Called up RS Auto this moring but they do not have Penting dept. Moreover my bike is Blue & they told me that local garages has not been able to Match Color (patch-up) so far. They advised me to try in Kolkata for a perfect patch up.

Can any one poll on a Garage for this purpose?

                              thanks Shaswata

Instead of denting painting, get a new tank and claim insurance, insurance company will pay 80% of bill... tank price is around Rs.4500 - Rs.5000
