What unsolvable issues are there in your bike? If it is the noise from the engine, there is nothing unusual. IT IS THE USUAL SOUND OF ANY GS. If you are still doubting, record the engine sound of any other GS – preferably one newer than yours – and hear it and compare the sounds.

There is nothing faulty in your bike. Do not compel the mechanics to do something on your bike for your satisfaction.

Try to do the routine maintenance works yourself. It does not affect the warranty. Keep your ears away from the engine and ride freely at the maximum safe speed.

if you did not ask for the engine oil additive and if it was done without consulting you, PLEASE WRITE TO SUZUKI directly regarding this. This is one way the service center makes a quick buck (and you are not even sure if such an additive was really added), and 'polishing' is another joke.

I have serviced my bike at this very same Apple Auto and they are pathetic to say the least.

When you gave the bike for service, they would tell you "regular service with oil change", write a few stuff down on the job sheet and ask your signature. This will include polishing and additives by default. They will not make any effort to let you know about this unless you ask. So after everything is done, if you go argue they will simply say on the job sheet you have signed everything and its your fault.

Now coming to the polishing. In Apple Auto's terms, polishing means washing the bike. So if you say you do not want it, they will not wash the bike. They will simply wipe clean the bike with a wet cloth and deliver the bike. When they did this to me I complained to the manager and got a proper clean jet wash.

Brace yourself when you read the next line. The engine oil they use is 'Veedol'. This could easily be the crappiest oil ever created. The drain interval is less than 2000 KM. So next time you give the bike for service, they can charge for the oil again.

I have complained about this both the times I have been there and nothing changed. I had complained at Suzuki website. That also didn't change much. What I would suggest is that you change the service center.

I too agree to that .. their customer relation is too much bad and from the service part, I actually dont know what they have used, but my bike feels smoother than it was earlier.

The bike was washed, and i asked them which wax they use for polishing. They showed me a bottle without any stickers (a plain white bottle) and showed me how they polish bikes. They just dip a piece of cloth in it and wipes the bike's body.

I am not sure which one they have used bcoz I was not there when they changed the engine oil and stuffs. They told me its MAK they are using.

Which Service Center is most suggested in Bangalore Locality (I stay in Madiwala )

I took my bike from Aryan Suzuki, and It costed only 93 Rs for the first service which i did there(I bought the engine oil seperately and gave them) .Since it was 10 KM from my place, i decided to give my bike for second service @ Apple Autos which is only walkable distance for me.

          • My experience so far.

            Hello all!

I have had my bike's first service done recently and have clocked 820 kilometers so far. I must say that it's a fine commuter's bike(Glad I chose this over Honda Unicorn!) with great comfort and also tremendously enjoyable for the rider! Pillion is not so comfortable though(like for a broad Caucasian male?/big boned Punjabi Sikh) and I sometimes envy the pillion seat of those 100cc+ gearless scooters! Hahaha... The GS feels like a well sedated commuter bike with its light humming engine and negligent vibrations when on slow cruises and an equally surprising nimble machine for the strangers who mistake it to be slow and lazy! Many long curious stares so far and a frequent comment- "When did Suzuki launch this?" By the way, I have started seeing more brand new GS cruising in town!

Here is my experience so far in terms of what is bothering me-

            • Recently, I noticed that when my bike is in second gear and I leave the throttle, a whining sound emanates from the engine-gearbox area while the bike slows down(the slow down doesn't feel smooth). I have felt this happening only in the second gear.
            • After having reported to the service center(at the first service) that the neutral sometimes doesn't engage and is elusive, it now engages well! However, now, it suddenly pops up sometimes when aiming and downshifting for the first gear! And well, once in a blue moon, it still(less frequently than earlier) does go on to 'hiding mode'! And in the same spirit of blue mooning, after a ride of say.. half an hour, the gear display shows '0' but magic, my bike is in the first gear! Hahaha...
            • And yes, even after having read many fellow users complaining of it here, I'd like to report that my GS150R's gears are harder and clunky(compared to other bike models) to shift. For example, my fourth gear gives a double sound while hard shifting- 'thik-tik'. I am quite speechless and worried about this since I haven't felt such noticeable gearshifts on other bikes.

I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions on the above points.

            Thank you.

After about 31K kms, I too am facing this ‘hiding mode’ or false neutral problem when my gear shifting is lazily.

Press the gear lever a little stronger so that the gear engages correctly.

Try to shift gear after fully releasing the throttle. None among us has, anyway, replaced anything in the gear box due to this hard shifting problem. More than that, as all of us know, GS is almost free from major repairing works and parts replacements.

Please get clarified that the sound you're referring is common if GS is revved quickly / hardly.. Make sure whether the same sound is there even when you gradually increase/open the throttle.
                thanks.

Yes, I agree. I have noticed both these issues in my bike. The whining sound in second gear and the double click with the gear shift.

I must admit that I have also been noticing very obvious vibration grrrr... kind of noise from the engine (pardon my analogy). This particularly when I shut the throttle and the bike is slowing down in any gear. I am not sure if this has anything to do with my existing problems.

Anyone would love this bike but it has far too many niggling problems to be loved for too long. And the irritation is bound to catch up soon.

(Since its a new bike, I doubt forks/cone-set/rims to be faulty, although anything is possible)
Sharan, I had already mentioned to the Service Center umpteen number of times that the front wheel jumps and wobbles. After taking numerous test drives on my bike, the senior service engineer and the Works Manager at Aryan have come to a conclusion that there is very slight wobbling which could be due to the new tyre treads that have not set in yet. I am puzzled by this. I don't think MRF would manufacture faulty tyres with uneven treads and even if so, I don't thing a customer should face the brunt of it.

They keep calling these defects very minor problem but I wonder why the South Zonal Service Manager from Suzuki has been invited to take a look at my bike. I don't think he would have to come down for minor problems.

Will post after my meeting with him tomorrow.

Also, what I have noticed in the past couple of days is that the disc may be bent or maybe there is a fault with the fork/ bearings or something else,
When I rotate the front wheel (without applying brake), the wheel rotates freely for one semi circle and the other semi-circle, there is stiff resistance from the dsic rubbing against the pads along with a squaling noise.

Is anyone able to deduce what the problem could be with these symptoms. It would be a great help. Thanks.
                    Regards,

That speedo mount doesnt look good. Fabricate one which connects to the bolts on either side to the HL dome such that there's also an extention to hold the number plate above the dome, so the speedo gap and mount can be covered up.

Round reflectors generally give more focussed beam. So please post the pictures of high and low beams taken in dark surroundings.

The end of a stator pole seems to be broken. If it is glued back, beware that there is a possibility of it being broken again as it is immersed in hot oil.

It seems both the stator coil ends are brought out without grounding it to the body. Which RR are you using? If it is the stock one, it consist half wave rectifier in which a lead from it is connected to the chassis through the battery, losing half of the current and producing pulsating DC which will not be sufficient to recharge the battery when all the electrical are connected to it. So, replace the RR with that of Ape’s.

That whining sound when you release the throttle fully is there in every bike in every gear and is more audible in lower gears.

The double click sound also is common with all GSs including mine. There is a slight vibration (if it can be called so) at 3.5k rpm in older GSs. As far as I know, the new batches are free from it. To know what vibration is, ride an Apache and assure that your bike is vibrating like it.

I don’t think that the wheel is wobbling or jumping as you cannot control a bike with wobbling and jumping wheel on road at any speed especially at comparatively higher 45-50 kmh. The tyre may be over inflated, the fitting may not be proper or it may be the hangover of riding another bike which has no disc brake for seven years with a weaker fork. I have asked you earlier to remove and refit the tyre but you were not ready to do it. Works on tyres are not done at the SC because they don’t have necessary tools to do it.

The gap between the brake pads and disc is very small i.e. about 0.08 mm and hence there is always the possibility of mild touching of pads with disc or dust or tiny sandy particles being trapped between the disc and pads. This is not a peculiar issue of your bike but is common in each bike in this world with disc brakes. And it is not considered as a problem unless the brake is jamming and if you complain about it repeatedly, the mechanic will open the brake bleeding nut, drain a little brake fluid and allow some air enter the brake line as in the case of Nikhil Krishnan because he has nothing else to do. As I said earlier, this mild rubbing of the brake pads is not affecting the performance of the bike in any manner.

Please ride another GS to know how it behaves before complaining about any so called issues of your bike and it always is better to not compel the mechanics to do any repair on the bike unless there are some real issues on it. Remember that all the GSs on the roads are moving smoothly with the ‘issues’ you are complaining about.

Let us see what Mr. Saxena says about your bike. If his response is not up to your expectations, try to get the refund and buy any other bike except GS. That is the only practical remedy as you are complaining about imaginary problems. As Confucius said, the hardest thing of all is to find a black cat in a dark room, especially if there is no cat.

And please don’t misunderstand my words.

                        • Greetings, fellow GS-pians. It's going to be a year by next week since I took delivery of my first bike bought with my first job's paychecks. Kms covered : 12598 kms.
Usage: weekday commuting of 20kms and weekend getaways of 200+kms
Service centre: Aryan suzuki @ Domlur, Bangalore
Mods: switched to ceat vertigo sport in rear (intermediate compound). I must say I'm experiencing better grip now.
                          Fuel economy:
Worst (high speed cruising) : 36kmpl
City riding (above moderate speeds): 45kmpl
I believe with moderate and consistent speed while commuting, I can achieve 50kmpl. I shall try that very soon :-P

                          Problems faced :
1.On the day of delivery, the bike refused to start and inspection revealed that rats had chewed through most the electrical wirings! Rest of the mechanical and metal finishings were as expected. So, I went back crestfallen and took yet, was euphoric to take the bike on the next day, after the whole wiring harness was replaced (and haven't faced any wiring faults till now).
                          2. After first service, I did, like many others faced hard gears while shifting and when I gave it for the second service, they rectified it by replacing the clutch plate.
                          3. At 10,000 kms, the ignition/steering column lock started becoming loose (the two screws holding it up became loose) and the SC guys fixed it but I need to get it looked at again since the service personnel have jammed in one of the screws in the haste (or callousness?).
                          4. At 11,000 kms, I found the clutch to be too tight to engage and the SC replaced the cabe ( Can someone tell me if there is any other way?). But now, I find the clutch to be very light and a delight to use :-). Also, the fork was a bit loose when I took it after my sixth service (but it was fine the day before when I left it at the SC) , causing unnatural judder in the handlebars while braking and riding over rough roads. and was tightened up.

SC experience : I have been taking my bike Aryan suzuki, Domlur till now and the service personnel haven't made me delighted , but I'm satisfied with the service and demeanour.

                          Pros:
                          1. Large fuel tank: perfect for long trips.
                          2. Sixth gear is a boon for conquering those long stretches of highway.
                          3. The very low magnitude of vibrations, thanks to the counterbalancer, result in a much more refined ride quality than other counterparts of GS150R. My dad owns a pulsar and after riding my bike, he conceded that the ride quality was better at high speeds.
                          4. It's a nice thought to add the digital clock in the console. It's greatly helps while on long biking trips or when you're running late for work ;-)

                          Cons:
                          1. 35W headlight is not bright enough makes night time call for extra caution.
                          2. Maybe wider rear tyres like pulsar's would make some difference? But I have found the current tyre width to be sufficient, till now.

                          Wishlist :
                          1. Full DC electricals.
                          2. Brighter headlight
                          3. I would very much like higher CC versions of this highly refined engine :-P
                          4. LED backlit legends for switchgear, a la pulsar style :-P

                          MODS in the pipeline :
I have bought a pair of LED projector lamps of 20W. I have drawn up a circuit to rectify the AC power going to the headlight and feed it to the lamps, which K plan to mount on both sides of headlight. I shall post the details once the mod ia done.

                          • Thanks punarvasu and dip097.

I got my bike serviced, They have changed bearing in engine and the noise from the engine is not there now. The riding is as usual butter smooth

Only concern is i am getting noise from chain bracket, Need to check with SC once again. Haven't got checked mileage yet, shall update once i have done the mileage check.

                            • Hi Punarvasu,

Looks like I would have to go to a tyre shoppe and get this checked because I can visibly see the handlebars shaking in a symmetric pattern at 45-50 kmph and I have been getting pain in my forearm when I ride the bike. I am not sure what is the right word to descirbe this if this is not called wobbling. I am under the impression that this is wobbling. But I have never lost control of the bike at any speed.

When I have asked for a feedback. I am open to receive criticism too from a senior member. I would not mistake your words.
                              Regards,
                              Venky

                              • I complained about the front breaks and Mr. Saxena said that it is very normal. This in spite of checking the same free wheel movement in 10 other bikes with disc brakes. They finally cleaned the break and said they have applied grease to the callipers. I still feel the same. it is not only a squaling noise. There is no free movement of the wheel. With the same power, a normal wheel rotates 10 times whereas mine just stops in 2 rotations. Also, the gripping happens only for one half of the circle and not the other.

Maybe I am not able to express my concern properly through words.

Mr. Saxena says that the bike is in excellent condition and there are no issues in the bike. I fail to believe how issues like this can be called imaginary when they are obviously showing up.
I can take his word for the rear wheel heating to be normal, the engine noise to be normal but when I am obviously seeing the issues with the front wheel on a new bike, I can't take it for granted.

When I spoke to Mr. Saxena, I felt he was completely in denial mode and he claims that the bike is good in Suzuki standards. I now understand why they are not selling much.

Also, I understand that getting a refund is not an option because Suzuki believe that the bike is in impeccable condition.
                                Regards,
