  • Dear Venky,

I own my GS since the previous December, and so far i havent seen any painting issues in the bike. Most of the time, i keep my bike under shade and not in direct sunlight.

Yesterday, i took my bike for a water service + Diesel wash (Cost : 80/- rs ) . Really i am too much happy about the shining and looks of the bike after washing. When my bike was parked near a shop yesterday evening, i saw multiple people looking at it and they were asking me whether its a new bike or not. I said its 5 months old and had a water service today.

You know how it feels, when somebody tell us that our Bike is a beauty. !!

I too would suggest you not to park the bike in direct sunlight. Do it only if you dont have any other option.

Well, Completed 3000 kms in the ODO on my way to office today So far So Good ! !

Even if the paint is substandard, the bike is under warranty for 2 years or 30,000 kms whichever is first and the company will replace any defective part within this period.

As far as I remember, nobody has complained earlier about the quality of the paint of our bike. My GS is about 39 months and 31,000 kms old now and the paint is still in good condition.

Buy a good car shampoo like ARMOR ALL Wash and Wax and carnauba wax polish like STP Son Of A Gun or Collinite 845 and wash and wax your bike regularly. If done so, the finishing or shining will last longer. If ready to spend some more money, the so called Teflon coating offered at the SC is equally good. And try to park the bike in shades, not exposing to direct sun light. While parking in rainy season, keep it covered to protect from rain water.

Do not waste money on wood cum leather cum floor cum automobile cum all purpose polish like Waxpol which probably contains no carnauba except on the label like the usual cheap Indian trick of adding allopathic medicines in ayurvedic medicines and selling as ayurvedic medicines.
The bike is 45 days old and the SC gave a teflon coating as a "forced to pay for" accessory. It has never been parked in the sun and has never been exposed to any rain. I don't expect to see a million swivel scratch marks on the plastic parts however degraded they are just after wiping the bike with soft cloth twice. Either, they have put a used part or it is really cheap.

I am sorry to sound harsh Mr. Punarvasu but I cannot ignore so many problems and ride freely on the bike. I paid 80K for the bike like any other 150cc bike, not to have a mediocre piece of equipment.

I have a KB 100 1991 model which can be called classic now and maintain it in impeccable condition. I cannot stand poor quality maintenance on vehicles. Having paid fully for this stuff, I expecte everything to give me the experience of new.

I can't help but compare. My TVS was 84 months old when I sold it and had run 40K kms but never had any of these problems all through. THAT IS QUALITY.

      Hi Nikhil,

The bike is a pleasure to watch. Its very good and I still love the bike a lot. which is what makes me feel all the more frustrated. I have wanted to buy this bike for 5 years and when I get it, have had to face so many problems.

It has never been parked in direct sunlight which is why I never realized about this swivel marks all this time. It is not visible in the shade or even under artificial lighting but I was surprised to see it accidentally under sunlight and felt very bad about this.

These are minor things I agree but how many minor issues can a new bike have. All of them put together makes it one heck of a problem for someone. Its just out of first service and I had made 5 visits to the SC before 1st service. I am restrining myself from visitng the SC else they have another round of bashing waiting from me.

The wheel wobble that no one is able to attend to is hurting my arms if I drive for 30 to 40 kms. How am I expected to ride free of any thoughts if I am phusically feeling the pain.
Sorry, not having a go at you but just venting out some frustration at Suzuki.
      Regards,
      Venky

        Dear Venky,

Suzuki is one of the best brands and i dont think they would use any low quality stuffs for their products that too in a situation where they are struggling to find their way in the Indian Market.

if the SC is of no help, check the wobbling with a good mechanic in your locality. I am no man to suggest you on this since this is the first bike which i OWN and i am not feeling any similar problems in my bike as yours.

Why i said about not parking in sunlight is , on the streets, we can see a lot of GS's which has lost its colour and shining and is faded (Especially the blue and the Black ones). Atleast you could save your bike from that in the future.

The swirl marks you mentioned may perhaps be the result of buffer pad used on buffing machine for ‘Teflon’ coating. These marks will disappear when you wax the bike again with a good wax polish and clean, dry soft cloth.

Even if there are the swivel marks on your bike, how is it affecting the performance of the bike? More than that, if that part of side panel is defective, you can demand a replacement within 2 years. Ask them to replace that part if you are sure that that part is defective.

This bike bought on 27/1/2010 is 3 years 3 months old now.

Suzuki, the modern Rip Van Winkle has decided to wake up from its years long sleeping in cave. A 250 cc bike, it is heard, has started from Japan to India in a slow, steady speed. All are top business secrets and hence nobody including the dealers knows exactly what is to happen.

Rip in his 20 years sleeping missed American Revolution and the developments of his country. Our new Rip – sorry, new Rabbi Honi – missed the two wheeler revolution in India.

Need not worry; Suzuki is still concentrating on Hayate even by giving special incentive to the salesmen.

I am now hearing this cry from the future: Does nobody here know Suzuki?

Blessed be the name of Suzuki.

Sorry about this. I can't help but asking

              1. Something that is used to enhance the appearence (buffer pad and buffing machine) causes scratch marks on the bike.

              2. Why does everything have to do with performance of the bike. If the side panels are not affecting performance, why are they there in the first place. All of us are aware that there are some parts that are there for performance and some of them are for aesthetics. I am looking at the side panel and only mentioning about its aesthetic value.

              3. The 2 year or 30K kms warranty covers nothing apart from the engine which is the whole point of me taking up all these issues.

Not to offend anyone's sentiments. But I can't overlook obvious issues.

              .
i read and heard about the Suzuki Inazuma (lightning in Japanese) 250 launching soon. Hope to see that on roads.

I was given Hayate as a standby bike for a day. Pocket dynamo. Truly amazing and probably the best 100CC bike in India today. I preferred the braking on Hayate compared to the GS.

I don't think Suzuki ever heard of this basic necessity called marketing. Access and Hayate suffer so much due to the lack of marketing though they are the best in their class though I am a bit apprehensive about GS myself.

Can't believe that Suzuki increased sales by 35% in 2012, second highest only to Honda who grew by 40%. Imagine what they can do with a robust ad campaign like Hero or Honda.

I would have loved to have the orange side panels as in the first model but it wasn't to be.

It is available for Rs. 1800/- per panel.

Got the bike serviced by a local mechanic named Sohail yesterday. Didn't face any issues before. But still went ahead with the service as it has been 3000 KM after the previous service. After almost every service the bike would run like shit for a day or two and will come back to normal. But in this case, the bike actually felt better. The better is only very marginal. There used to be a vibration at 5000 RPM. This is gone now. Other than this I could not find any difference. Everything was fine and everything is fine.

He had replaced the bearing inside the back wheel. He said this was never greased and started to have a play. He showed the old part and it did have some play. Then the engine oil got upgraded to Motul 5100 15W50 from the previous God knows what Mineral oil. I feel no difference yet. A high speed highway run could show some difference. I am not sure.

                          Hi vj245,

Congrats in advance on getting your new bike.

Before delivery, make sure the bike is well and good, no visible damages / scratches etc. Check the price and papers of tax. Tthey may give some discount + accessories worth some money. Do check the accessories are properly fitted (if they are providing any). Take a quick round with the bike and make sure everything is OK.

During break-in period, keep the engine rpm below 5000 for the first 800 KMs and below 7500 till 1600 KMs. In the owners manual, suzuki gives you more information in pages 4-1, 4-6. Read it well and do as they suggests.

I would suggest you to use SHELL or HP petrol. Next choice can be Bharath petroleum. Go to an Indian Oil pump only if your bike runs out of petrol and stops in front of an Indian oil pump.

(I've used this petrol in different bikes as GS,unicorn etc. and felt that to be the worst with mileage, dont know its problem of pump or not. but how can Indian Oil pumps in different places make me feel the same way ?? )

Does Suzuki have a week+ waiting time for GS now ?? mine was ready in the third day

and again, congrats for the bike

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your decision. It is a very good bike.

From my experience, I would like to suggest only a couple of things.

                            1. Take a thorough test ride of the bike (about 20 kms or so and ensure that you are comfortable riding the bike).
                            2. Do this before they send the bike for registration

                                Dear All,

My Clutch cable got cut while on the go(@17000 Kms). I managed to reach home without using clutch for gear change.

Can I purchase the wire alone or should I change the entire Cable. The Black Cable is good with no defects.

Suzuki SC is little far and also have other works this weekend. So it will be difficult to travel for purchase.

Will this cable match any of the other bikes clutch cable which is easyily available at local stores. ?

I was thinking that bike wont start without using clutch but I now found out why that happens
There is a wire connected next to the Clutch wire similar to that of a Break Light wire(connected to front break lever) which is responsible for the startup.
                                Check that out.

                                A small Update:

I was thinking that the front light focus can be adjusted only by completing removing the front visors. But there is a star screw available behind the headlight. You can view it when you tilt the handlebar to the complete right or left. It can be rotated clock-wise / Anti Clock-wise to change the focus. Now the light focus in my GS is far better than my Unicorn.
Most of you might have known this but some new guys must be thinking how to change focus. I myself found this only after having the bike for more than 18 months.
