actually am using this shampoo for my car and bike as well, and i used to wash the car monthly once and bike 2 months once and havent find any issues with this and its economic [at least for me] as it just requires 5 ml per normal bucket full of water [10 ltrs water].

GS & splendor / passion have different gear /cluch layout , you can start engine with electric/kick when clutch is depressed in any gear.In passion you need to put in neutral to start the engine.

Can you explain it further?? i know that we can't kick start passion when clutch is disengaged even in neutral but it seems like a better technology especially when jumping from top to first.

                • Hope this helps -

I visited the SVC today and explained the problems to them they understood and took it for a test ride - the main culprit is the sound when engaging and dis - engaging the clutch. it is coming due to uneven wear of the main pressure plate along with some bearing and "lock nut". they replaced these ports under warranty and voila my problems are gone. gear shifts are silky smooth with little tap, no noise - apparently "better than original" .

Unofficially mine was the 6th bike reporting this problem here and the SVC guys knows the symptoms and remedy very well.

Also observed that i can still shift gears without clutch and may be it is normal for our GS

I was using Formula 1 shampoo and wax earlier for cleaning and waxing but due to the unavailability of original product, changed to Armor All shampoo and wax.
The recommended quantity is 30 ml for a bucketful water but I am using a little more concentrated solution i.e. 30 ml in 4/5 liters of water which is more than enough to wash a bike.
It removes all the oil, grease etc. on my bike without affecting the paint.
I have used Amway car wash but not satisfied with the result.

As you can see it's pretty old-stock , and I have 3-4 bottles of it to go yet . It's working well for it's intended purpose . As I said , I am using it extra dilute(1ml in 3liters of lukewarm water) , and you can't expect any car-wash detergent to be effective in the greasiest and grimiest areas (like under the mud-guards) in those concentrations . The amway one is also very good ... have used it on cars and it works as well and smells very nice too, no problems .
For waxing I use either of waxpol silicone polish(liquid) , 3M liquid wax(paste) or waxpol wax polish (solid wax) depending on how lazy I'm feeling that day .

LOL , at least you got a few other problems solved by a non-issue , under warranty too ... good for you friend .

In some bikes the kick-start lever is linked to the gear-box-clutch system in a way that allows you to start the bike with any gear engaged , while the clutch lever is depressed . It is known as a primary-kick system . Was first introduced by Yamaha here during the RX era and all Yamaha bikes I've had, has this nifty feature . It's a boon for any biker riding in traffic and without a battery operated self-start . Also the state of wear on your clutch plates doesn't affect your kick start in anyway then , since the kick lever does not engage(work) through the clutch at all . I miss it a lot in my HeroHonda bikes which doesn't have this feature . GS does ? That's capital !

Its not unique technology , it used to be there in higher cc bikes of old generations like rajdoot , yamaha rx/rd series , etc . it is there in most of 4 wheelers too were clutch assembly is isolated from kick/self start assembly to engine .

Pls maintain relative speeds while shifting gears , specially while down shifting , i usually shift 6-5 at 40kmh , 5-4 35 , 4-3 at 25 , 3-2 at almost 10 kmh .otherwise its little hard with some sound 'thonk'.ride in all gears for consederable time , while in traffic i used to shift gears very frequently from 1-4 and vice versa , we have so many gears to play with. my bike is 6 months and done 12600 km but gear shift is now almost silk & sound less , thanks to gear indicator ( this may be the reason suzuki added gear indicator to the console). also engine oil plays a crucial roll in gear shifting , shell / motul 20w40 support better gear shifting than stock oil.

When you feel a gear is hard to down shift, close the throttle, depress the clutch, rev the engine a bit and then down shift. This should solve the problem. Some of the good old Ind-Suzukis from the initial batches had this issue and this was how we addressed it!
