    Hi Nikhil,
My bike just came out of first service yesterday. They used Castrol 20W40 oil.
Oil costed 285, oil filter costed 35 and battery service and consumables costed 50. With tax, I paid about 420.

    • Hmmm... I always release the throttle completely before changing gears. Anyway, I'd love to see through the experience and hope for the best!

With the same power, a normal wheel rotates 10 times whereas mine just stops in 2 rotations. Also, the gripping happens only for one half of the circle and not the other.

Maybe I am not able to express my concern properly through words.

Mr. Saxena says that the bike is in excellent condition and there are no issues in the bike. I fail to believe how issues like this can be called imaginary when they are obviously showing up.
I can take his word for the rear wheel heating to be normal, the engine noise to be normal but when I am obviously seeing the issues with the front wheel on a new bike, I can't take it for granted.

When I spoke to Mr. Saxena, I felt he was completely in denial mode and he claims that the bike is good in Suzuki standards. I now understand why they are not selling much.

Also, I understand that getting a refund is not an option because Suzuki believe that the bike is in impeccable condition.

That is very strange to hear Venkan! I think you have made use of more than proper English to describe your concern. I wish I could have been of any technical advice but wonder if you could have it checked at some experienced mechanic because calling it whatever 'company standards', the way your front wheel is behaving, it should not be normal by any such standards a company would like to run its business by!

        • Taking the advice of Mr. Punarvasu, I went to a few tyre shoppes Bridgestone select and MRF tyre world and Michelin tyre shppe asking them to remove and refit the tyres and to see if there is any scientific means of checking the wobble but I got a negative response. I understand that machines exist only for alignment and balancing of four wheeler tyres and is not available for any two wheeler tyres. Secondly, these guys were too busy to agree to remove and refit tyres. They insist that I go back to Suzuki as it is a new bike.

Whatever be the case, I must admit that the manner in which Aryan Suzuki followed up on the complaint was good. Everyone in their ranks, MD, GM, Works Manager, Sales Manager, Service Head, etc. were involved with this bike and I have a personal commitemnt from the MD of Aryan that they would try and troubleshoot to resolve the issue. They have aksed me to try and ride till 1500 kms. I have now done 900. I don't intend to go there until my second servce. Let us wait and watch.

In any case, after running about 100kms after the first service, the engine seems to have become smoother and the performance is great.

I was not criticising you but pointing out what the real condition of your bike is. The fact that you are not losing the control of the bike at high speed itself shows that the tyre is not wobbling (Wobbling = Moving or rotating with uneven motion or moving unsteadily from side to side). The common causes of tyre wobbling are deformed rim, incorrect seating of tyre on the rim and faulty tyre. That is why I asked you to get it checked at a tyre shop as it is not done at any SC.

Other reasons like the bent forks or unequal quantity of oil in it, worn down wheel bearing, loose axle nut etc were ruled out as the bike is new and was checked by more than one mechanic.

One option left is letting any of your friends experienced of riding 150 or more cc bikes to ride your bike and know what he says about its wobbling. Or ride till 1500 kms as the SC said. I hope you will be more familiarised with the bike by that time.

It is true that a wheel with drum brake rotates many times freely because the brake shoes normally does not touch the drum but the disc brake is not so. Here you are lucky that the front wheel of your bike rotates 2 times freely as most other bike’s wheel does not.

And the “gripping” at half of the disc or squeaking sound too is common in every disc brake and is because of the tiny gap between the disc and brake pads due to which any foreign substance trapped there touches the disc. All other possibilities such as bent disc, worn pads, faulty piston set in the master cylinder also are dismissed due to reasons mentioned earlier.

If the so called wobbling is not affecting the control of the bike and if the pads touching the rotor are not affecting the performance of the bike, why is it annoying you? Just forget those sounds and ride happily and carefully. Everything will surely be OK when you get used to your bike.

              And you have a PM.

              • Mr. Punarvasu,

I had a few friends of mine ride the bike last night and they noticed the wobbling.
However for the moment, I would like to be optimistic and go with the majority. So here I am... ready to enjoy my bike and meet the SC guys during second service. I will keep this forum updated about my experience with the bike.

Last but not the least, the bike is a beast. With better QC and proper marketing, Suzuki can increase their market share. The engine is smooth, peppy and refined and in its class possibly the bike with the best fuel economy.

Thanks all for your time. I will be back with more updates.
                Regards,

                • Guys,

It's been 2 years and 6 months since i bought my bike. It's fantastic experience, 23 thousand on the odo. I normally don't check the mileage these days since filling up the tank would take me 900 kms approximately. Off lately, i can feel the heat generating from the engine if i ride for say 30 kms non stop. I am still not satisfied with the service provided by Suzuki, last service i gave it to a local bike mechanic who has serviced it up to my expectations. Strange the Tik-tik sound that starts when the piston cools comes even right now.
I am relocating to another city and it would be months before myself or anyone use this bike. I would like to know if there is anything special i need to do to store a bike for unused purpose for say 3 months. I am planning to give it for a service before i go and make the petrol dry. It's been only a month i did my service and if there is no service needed for non use purpose..i can go for that. I would definitely use the bike again and would like it to be in the same condition as it's now since i love this beast of mine..
Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by its breathtaking moments.

                  • From the little bit that I know, it is worth disconnecting the battery and definitely worth covering the bike with something that is dust and waterproof. You don't have to come back to see a dirty bike.

                    • Hi all,

Today, I realised that the side and rear fender (the black fiber part which says GS 150 R) has a very poor paint job. I saw so many circular scratch marks which generally come with years and years of wiping dust with cloth. I immediately checked the tank and the visor. They didn't have any. Its only the black parts which have these marks. Maybe down to a poor paint job. Has anyone else noticed this.

                      • Hi Guys, Need an answer. My bike was perfectly fine until I gave it for the 4th service. After the servicing while I am driving around 4k rpm I hear the sound as zig-zig-zig for sometime and it comes and goes, I m sure its not from the engine most probably its from the chain. I took it back to service center. he said the chain tightness is fine and he just did some greasing of chain and gave me back, but still I hear the same sound at higher rpm. If anyone of you could help me out.

                          Hi!
I have a latest generation GS150R and in my Owner's Manual(September 2011), pages 8-3 through 8-5 describe the storage procedure. I hope the same goes for yours as well.

I have seen such circular marks on my black GS150R(2 months old) under sun light and these are on the the rear sides. I am not sure what it is called technically but it is the protruding sides that fall on the either sides of the seat. I found it quite disappointing and weird as it is a new machine!

I am referring to the same set of parts. And also the central black patch in the new model headlamp visor. I too am utterly disappointed but upon enquiry with a few friends who have black bikes, I realized that these swivel scratch marks appear as we wipe the bikes and it is more prominently visible on black paint under sunlight in any bike. Also, I understand that the orange paint on the bike is metallic paint whereas the black is not. Generally scratches are less visible on metallic paints.

Please stop checking each and every part of the bike under microscope to find out something faulty in it. Ride on the bike with a tension free, happy mind as the bikes of both of you are as perfect as any other GS the rest of us use. Even if the paint is substandard, the bike is under warranty for 2 years or 30,000 kms whichever is first and the company will replace any defective part within this period.

As far as I remember, nobody has complained earlier about the quality of the paint of our bike. My GS is about 39 months and 31,000 kms old now and the paint is still in good condition.

Buy a good car shampoo like ARMOR ALL Wash and Wax and carnauba wax polish like STP Son Of A Gun or Collinite 845 and wash and wax your bike regularly. If done so, the finishing or shining will last longer. If ready to spend some more money, the so called Teflon coating offered at the SC is equally good. And try to park the bike in shades, not exposing to direct sun light. While parking in rainy season, keep it covered to protect from rain water.

Do not waste money on wood cum leather cum floor cum automobile cum all purpose polish like Waxpol which probably contains no carnauba except on the label like the usual cheap Indian trick of adding allopathic medicines in ayurvedic medicines and selling as ayurvedic medicines.

I think for the money paid, it is the owner's right to check the minutest details of his/her bike! :-D Even after taking the delivery of the vehicle! Forcing one's self to believe/imagine that everything is fine, despite it being wrong is as bad as imagining things up when nothing is wrong. As for whether people reporting or having never reported their bike parts being replaced/reporting or having never reported damaged paintwork should not be a concern to me or anybody with a bike problem because there is a first time for everything! Anyway, thank you for the help with the bike care products.
