Its name something like Bardhas ? or like that ? I had put it on SC's suggestion.. couldn't feel difference while riding. May be internally something happened.. But I won't use it again. I prefer to avoid such things.

Hey guys, I want to ride more and more above 5k rpm for some days. But in higher gears it achieves speed of 70 kmph. Not possible in city. Reason behind is I think riding in high rpm range will smoother the ride.... Is it like that ? We can go above 5k rpm in 3rd gear and speed around 50 kmph which is possible in city.
Im not sure.. its experiment. whats expert's suggestion ?

That's Bardahl, engine oil addictive that they use and i also found there is absolutely no change in performance or whatsoever so switched back to just oil. yes, mate short bursts is required to free up the engine internals but remember not too much to stress ur engine.

Thanks dual disc... Till 55 kmph in 5th gear, I feel Im gliding in air... Because we always in city ride below 5k rpm (at least I). But after that some vibes kick in.. however they are lesser than other bikes. Since I purchased bike, I get chance to cross 5k rpm only on highways and its not possible everyday to go on highway. Can't even do it in city. So I thought to ride on lower gear.
          In 3rd gear @ 6-6.5k rpm is ok ?

do it in the mornings only or when engine is cooled down, definitely not after riding 5-10km when engine becomes hot.
because that will cause glazing of cylinder walls.
How come no one asked me about the additives during 1st service..
may be they know its useless
how much is the charge for 1st service ?? i paid 330, do u think they put it without asking me ??

i went to the SC today, again , and told about the battery.
well, they took the battery out and said they will send it to exide for a check, and they said it'll cost around 40 for charging !!!

and about the clutch thing,(still there after 1st service) he said its normal in any bike, for gears to engage you have to move it little(front or back).

guess i shouldn't talk about the r thing so i wont say it

+1 to that guys...I too also had used the additives when I had newly bought my pulsar.....
It was not in form of pellets as you are saying....it was a bluish sort of liquid and I had to had 10ml for every 5 lts petrol or something of that sort....the bajaj showroom guys ahd sold it to me...it costed 200Bucks....
after using it for 3 months also i did not notice any changes.....

I think it is better to just stick to the usual petrol...and avoid such trying to screwup with the engines....

I had gone to SVC in Pune (SWARGATE) to give my bike for 1st First service. The SVC guy suggested that i buy petrol additives and oil additives which are in the form of small pellets or balls. He said that these will help in removing carbon in the engine as well as improve mileage.......he also said that these are recommended by the company.......they are charging me 130 + 65 = 195 bucks........he said that they will add them in front of me when i go to get the delivery of my bike..........should i buy them ?
Also does anyone know the prices of clutch and accelerator cables for GS as i am planing to buy them from SVC today......reason being i am planning for some long trips outside city......had read IMJoshee's experience of his bike's clutch cable snapping up so want to be safe.....

Akhi....I too recommend not to go for the additives...at least not now when the bike is new and you are giving it for 1st service...I never noticed any changes after adding the additives....as everyone has said....and believe me I had used it for a long time....
just use the money for something else...
that's a good idea to keep spare clutch cables...it really helps.....as Suzuki service centres or spares are really hard to come by....
not sure of the price though....
Good Luck for your long drives...I really envy you guys in Pune....
excellent off road biking....lot of hill stations....gosh....I love to go all those places....
Probb sometime in future for sure...i will shift to Pune...
                safe riding buddy....

                • I see different rates paid by ppl here for their 1st service. Isnt it supposed to be the same for all ? As far as the 1st service is concerned we pay only for the oil change right (provided there are no breakages)?

Thanks Guys, Sure i will tell him not to add any additives and will use that money to buy the cables.....the guy told me in the morning that the stock was available .....lets see ....will update all u guys about the bike after 1st service.......

                    Guru,
The options for hill stations and off roading are numerous around pune ....all the pune guys will agree .......shadowfax's pics are proof....and it just feels heavenly when riding your GS on a Highway.......especially in Katraj tunnel (what say pune guys).....I have been driving a car for long time andjust started driving bike......the adrenaline rush which i get from driving GS is noways near to my car on highways.......(No rash driving ofcourse........its our duty to ride safe for ourselves and more importantly our family)

                    • Hey buddies I am back after the tamasha of yesterday. To enjoy the irony of one's life , here is my day:
Morning around 8 booked tatkal tic to Chennai on 4.30PM train. Then rushed to SC for tacho replacement. My polished GS was EXTREMELY responsive and seemed to await its chennai trip. Day seemed cloudy. Previous day had not slept cause packing stuff...hence drowsy.
They agreed (after some pleading and my 'last visit' stance) to change cracked tacho/console. Then I rushed in auto to buy a formal pant, a new helmet and some essential items.

Its then when The One up there got bored and wanted some fun...The most horrific full fledged rains was the intro. Around 12 rushed back to SC for . They had never done this before and were having problems. The console was out with the replacement unit not functioning upon basic external not-connected test. Had no time to spare, hence they put back the old console with wrong connection, causing some funny graphics to appear. With the old one finally working, rushed out in completely flooded and raining roads, with new helmet (M4A 1400/- with AGV visor) on tank, backpack on shoulders, new carry bag with stuff on pillon. Was driving in absolute knee deep water. Had to book GS as parcel by 1 PM at 680 + 220 packing charge.

Oops, gas not in reserve (damn wed. FunTan uel fill)...already 1.30, pic me riding in heavy rains, carrying some odd items and asking each petrol bunk for draining out petrol . Finally got directions to an inroad (flooded slimy water) local mechanic near station. He opened tank, oops no PET bottle with me. He took two ( residue oil there) Honda OEM 800ml oil cans. Told him to leave fuel for 3 kms trip to station, but he was all the time looking at bike saying its looks good and suzuki engine Vgood. Gas drained, bottles in backpack, good to go right.
Well there is a flyover to climb, reached almost top, bike chugs, dead and then hell. Bus behind me honking, heavy rain, GS heavy and inclined slope, cant push it forward. I got out, my new helmet falls & starts rolling down under bus, reflex had me leave the bike, and it fell. Rushed to get helmet under bus. A P220 guy stops, and helps me lift bike and we push it onto downward slope. Conductor also helps, P220 guy simply disappears, I roll down slope with pillon carry bag dragging on one side. Police jeep comes out of nowhere and told me to stop below flyover. I explained whats happening, and they warned me to cause no such drama/jams. Having absolute no option, in that rain, opened tank and poured ~300ml petrol+oil from bottle + water from skies above. Bike somehow started on 3rd try and took it to station. GS was absolutely slime filled everwhere (even console), and they started packing on top of this. I rushed home in auto, its 3PM now.

We (parents+ sis + friend) rushed by our car onto the same (now absolute flooding) route to station at 3.45 PM . Somewhere before flyover, car had gone over some deep pothole and remained stuck. (water upto front hood now). Got a call around 4 (car still stuck and ppl and me trying to push it out) from Co. telling me to come only after Ramzan, not Friday. All were .

Its 4.15 now, car (swift) stuck worse (tow truck required)...gotta stop my bike from leaving...got hold of an auto and rushed to station in utter rain. its 4.45PM and train is leaving. Felt . Running reached cloak room to find my bike still there. Cargo hold was full, hence they planned to send it by 7PM train...money not refundable, nor tic money...same workers unpacked the slimy (now more dirty) colourless GS. They thought I am mad. I left bike there and went back home. Swift has a damaged left wheel bearing and needs servicing.

Today after a good sleep and no rain, sanity came back to me. Went to station in morn., with fresh 100 buck xtra Prm (NO FunTan 4me today) can, dirt bike started in 2nd kick, rode it feeling with buzzer constanly beeping. Got it back washed from my local trusted mecahnic just now, its sparkling with a ton of polish on it. He insists chain is extremely dirty and should be cleaned. Finally had the courage to drive it as usual, its working fine, except for increashed chain noise, but oddly its super smooth now. Console is fine, gears are very buttery and its feels like a well maintained GS. I thought bike would be jammed due to muck on it.
Am planning possibly DIY chain clean tomorrow as given in sites and manual...any experience and precautions here ???

Hope you guys enjoyed ironies of life...Btw The One really gives all mishaps in life as a learning experience. Practise makes perfect isn't it. Cheers to life

Its seems Ok, but when I am in traffic, i keep changing gears at 4.5K rpm...Engine is more relaxed, its cruising even here, except for more gear changes. But then I would take the option of giving engine less strain than less shifts with more RPM

Other than that, constant high RPM gear shifts will make your tappets loose quick&will require frequent adjustment. I have already faced it with the so-called high revving R15!

                              • Hey buddies, provided I dont have the guts to DIY chain clean , is there any harm and use in giving it to local mechanics to clean ???

My plan is (as got from many sites eg: How To Maintain Your Motorcycle Yourself) to use diesel for soaking chain, use brush to remove dirt and hang it dry...then later soak in 90W gear oil for ~1 hour, and put it back on sprockets.
Only thing i got to figure out, how to remove chain first place ...but the way its mentioned in sites, it seems real easy
