    thankks
Even am not sure about top speed, cause yet to try. But some founder buddies here (who are nowadays missing, maybe in pluto) have talked about touching 110~118 on straights.
But I can say, 1st gear acc. is good for a 20, 2nd has taken me to 40 once below 6K RPM...I always shift , than try to go in lower gears. Its only in 3rd gear+, that GS starts flexing its muscles, and overtakes other bikes with ease.

Whatever be speed and gear, GS will not knock anywhere above 2K rpm, from experience, except for tractor soundtrack

and handle bar he said he'll replace.
is that what was generally done to people who has rusting probs ??
he said painting will take 2 days.

does anyone know the disc size, suspension travel distance of this bike ? i cant find it anywhere.. !!!

no hybrid gs from me for now, i was just comparing with some other bikes so wanted to know the specifications
i'm just thinking of stickers n paint for now.
i decided to put yellow tape on the bike(blue colour). would it be a bad choice of colour ??(see the enclosed pic and give ur opinions)
i tried blue and white(on the comp, not on the bike) it looked insignificant.

for the gsr sticker i think under the 6 speed sticker(on the side is the best place).

i dont know whether its only me, but i somehow like the trackor sound at lower rpms.it feels like a super refined tractor(or a lower tone of royal enfield may be)

and since i ride around 3.5k rpm most of the time, i feel vibrations(mild) only once the engine gets hot(7km riding). otherwise i dont feel it at all !!
any idea why ??(gone 600km odo till now)

Hey buddies, I do feel, a well cut Logo of GSR/my avatar, without any empty white spaces, would look great below the XTP stick on tank and on bottom of rear no. plate...6speed area looks too cool to mess up with .
The SACS could do duty on...top silencer chrome area provided its watermark coloured and big (similar to the hoodibaba silencer stuff )

Me too like it, as its great when cruising, or just moving slowly at low speeds in higher gears. But the sound on 4+ gear acc. at 5K+ RPM really gives you a adrenaline boost. And this "Turbo Tractor soundtrack" is when GS seems enjoying and flexing muscles

My experience is different. I feel 3~3.5K slight vibs (only on footpegs) after 5kms on start...the moment I start driving it at higher gears and 5K RPM at 70 km/h, whatever be the slowdown speed or time behind wheel, the vibs at 3.5 are non-existent.
I really do feel at 1730 ODO that GS becomes very smooth and simply butter revving, only after you give it the strong incremental acc. and speed runs...it loves rocketing at 4/5th, cooling off at 6th

                  • thanks amatine....

                    and guys...
me have to travel for about 1 hr every day.... about 16km.... is the stance on the apache harmful for the back????
and what's the avg mileage of the fz....
really liked the way it looks... but since, as i mentioned earlier, mileage is also an important parameter... from what i have heard its a let down...

i have a couple of queries...

1)sorry for being cynical... but as i read in the previous posts of mathhewsyriac and vensan, it seems that the mileage is comparable to the fz
                    2) is there anyway the handlebar height can be adjusted(then it might match the stance on the rtr)
                    3) for all the bagalore gs owners, (esp guru_007,cause you have gone to the ss on rajkumar road), where is the service best???
                    4) if we tighten the rear brakes on the gs, wouldn't it be as good(if its already not on par) as in the other bikes

                    • Been away for a while - here's an update from me for existing users and potential fence sitters ( i was one before i just went ahead and bought it )...

I had booked the bike on the 24th of august in Thane through a sub dealer as suzuki has only 3 dealers in Mumbai, 2 are actually on the outskirts and quite far. This was the primary reason why i was dilly dallying on whether i should be buying it but i still went ahead because of the fact that its a new bike and has more features than the others. I had already ridden a pulsar 150 for 4 years and didnt want the bajaj. the only other bike that caught my fancy was the white apache rtr 180 but the autocar review said it was not for tall riders (im 6'2).

Only after i'd booked the bike and i came to do more research on this site did i get jittery after reading about all the rusting incidents. I even called the dealer to find out if i could change my mind and opt for a unicorn but it was too late (in a way, im glad it worked out that way).

Took the delivery on the 26th of august, inspected the bike and didnt find much to complain...rode it home after the dealer warned me not to cross 80kms before rto passing (what rules !!). Spent the next few days not riding the bike anywhere except in my complex for a few kilometers.

Got the RTO passing done in 5 days and started riding the bike on the 3rd of september. Told the watchman not to wash it (he washes my car and the scooty). Ensured i never crossed 3.5 RPM in all gears. The best feeling i used to get was at 3.5 RPM in the 6th gear riding at 44/45 kmph..would feel the bike is just gliding and with the helmet on, no sound or vibrations were felt. Filled up petrol at 110kms reading on the odo (10litres @ 500 bucks)

A week later on inspecting the bike closely, noticed a little rusted piece of metal down the handle bars just above the tyres but thats okay..i guess that can be sorted..completed 500 kms in a week. The bike had to be put in reserve around 490 kms reading and then after that it was running upto 660 when i refuelled again for 500 bucks (10 litres). Assuming that it returns 50kmpl, the reserve should kick in again at 990..Anything more than that will tell me the accurate fuel efficiency figures.

I started riding the bike at 4RPM after 500kms and in the 6th gear, that would give me a speed of 52/53kmph. After 700 odd, the bike started feeling a bit rough and the gear changes were a bit harder than it used to be earlier. So i guess the servicing was due and that got me planning and slightly worried since it would mean either going to Panvel (near the beginning of the Mum - Pune expressway) or Ulhasnagar (the other extreme)...just till yesterday evening, i was deliberating on how to do it when this morning, i opened the papers and a pamphlet fell out...and guess what? The pamphlet announced the opening of Om Sai Suzuki, the first authorised dealer in Thane. Voila !! read the address and was damn excited. Its located near the yamaha and honda showrooms..and then something even better happened..read it more and realised that their workshop and 2nd showroom was ..............on Ghodbunder road, bang outside my complex ( i stay at hiranandani estate)..so now i can give the bike, walk back 5 minutes to my house and God forbid if at all any problems every start, the workshop is outside my house. I was all smiles today and told my wife that im glad i bought this bike as even a honda would have meant riding 5 kms into the city for servicing.

Overall, i think its a good bike and im happy with it...atleast so far..havent kick started it even once.. i dont (yes and i know its probably good in the morning) do it..never did on my previous pulsar and i know i wont do it unless absolutely necessary...

Positives - comfortable riding, smooth engine, no vibrations, gets me the looks at signals

Negatives - rear braking isnt the greatest, poor quality rubber bushes on the rear view mirrors - the left one came out of its holding on the day i got delivery. i pushed it back up and it hasnt come off yet. very very minor rusting observed. saw a brand new yamaha fz parked in my office complex and the metals were all shining compared to my bike.

Have booked a slot for tommorow for servicing. The guy who i spoke to was zapped. He probably thought im calling to enquire about new bike cos they opened today and i asked him for a service appointment.!!

Btw, havent noticed any other suzuki on the roads in the past 3 weeks

                      • Hey Vij uncle Thats a good one.
Btw once runnin-in (1600) is over and you start flexing GS muscles, its great.
Jus came back from a 40 -80 km/h ride, with strong acc (~5K RPM though...afraid of night dogs and cats) ....believe me guys, it gets more smoother and revy at this speeds, and 2,3,4 are also smooth and engine revy after a good speed run. Am just lovin it .
Today was the last day to enjoy Ernakulam roads on GS .
Wed its gonna be santhome high rd Chennai

Am sure that within a year, all the simple probs. will be non-issues, and you will begin to love it more. Here in ernakulam, have seen more GS than FZ on the last 3 days. And all of them are black You park it anywhere, and married/working dudes just seemed to ogle at it. The uni/FZ/cbZ guys tried to overtake you...FZ guys always will cut right in front, do a cornering dance and speed off But surprise: Not a single pulsar (p180/200/220)/RTR do any of the stuff above. They just stay behind you, dunno why ? The pillon will stare, the rider will try to cruise with you at 60...But all the access guys (even 40+ men, GIRLS) just love to vrooom past you
                        Its funny on ernakulam roads

                          • Is it ok to use the electric start even in the mornings to start the bike.
does it reduce battery life/cause it to discharge faster etc etc.
if it is ok then even i'll stop using kick in the mornings.(got the idea after reading vij's report )

bad news is, my battery died, again.
have to go to the SC again(third time).
last time they even sent it to exide for check up/charging and said battery is fine.

good news is, my bike has been starting in 1 kick even in the mornings everyday !!!
i kick and accelerate a little(keeping rpm b/w 1.5k-2k) for 10-15 seconds and its fine. is this what everyone else does too ??

could someone comment on the blue gs pic i uploaded on the last page please. does the yellow tape on the rim make it look good or bad ??

Hey buddy, think ur bike needs some batt. bypass surgeries Everyday morn. I just give 4 kicks with switch off...Switch ON use starter to fire motor...try to keep RPM b/w 1~1.5. After 1 min, fuel knob turned ON/Reserve...another 1 min idle...then coast out at <4K for ~2 kms at higher gears

Hey buddy, frankly speaking (just my opinion), rim stripes tend to look goddy and spoils the understated GS overall look...If needed, i generally feel, a THIN red strip/white strip with alternate black bands would look good. But then, I am a guy (hopefully not the only one) who finds RTR180 white very bland compared to its lovely grey sibling. Orange is. Also Fazer white rims Special Edition is absolute for me

ThinK guys having pulsars have done this, and they can give better advice. Cheerio
