Thanks punarvasu. I will check the manual and do it. And I guess the material is same as what kirtimannan mentioned, which gives a glossy look.Originally posted by punarvasu View PostAdjust the suspension to same position – preferably third - using clamp wrench in the tool kit. See page 2-28, 6-6 and 6-7 of the user’s manual.
Do you know what oily substance was applied on the bike? It is the first time we hear about such a thing.
Any idea about this? Is it something that needs further checkup? Or would it disappear as I clock more kms on odo?Originally posted by josettan4. Small vibrations are present in gear lever after 5k rpm. Service guy told me that it is normal and will disappear after 2000kms only. Is it so?Last edited by josettan; 04-21-2012, 04:35 PM.

I am using Armor All shampoo and wax.Originally posted by KIRTIMANNAN View PostMy SVC told me that they use diesel after they finish polishing the bike to make it look clean..but the problem with that is that it attracts dust...
A slight vibration at 3.5K is common in the old GSs. As far as I know, the new GSs are free from this problem.Originally posted by josettan View Post4. Small vibrations are present in gear lever after 5k rpm. Service guy told me that it is normal and will disappear after 2000kms only. Is it so?
Anyhow, ask the mechanic to tighten the engine mounting bolts, front and rear axle nuts and all other nuts and bolts at correct torque.

The Pump has cheating you. You lost about Rs.244/-. You Can fill only 16 Liters - Dry Tank. With reserve you can fill exactly 15 Liters.Originally posted by josettan View PostI was under the impression that fuel tank capacity is 15.5 L. Yesterday I asked for a full tank fill at shell, and to my surprise they filled 19 L
and still some space was left.

That is not correct. Some of us have filled 20 or 20.5 litres of fuel in the tank. If you are not convinced, buy petrol in a jar, measure it again and fill in the tank while the bike is on centre stand.Originally posted by sarvodaya View PostThe Pump has cheating you. I had once filled 17.5 liters on my GS150R and this was in a SHELL pump. GS still had space in it's belly to accept more fuelOriginally posted by punarvasu View PostThat is not correct. . I think that certainly the capacity of the fuel tank is more than what's specified in the manual.

All fuel tanks have some extra space after filling the maximum capacity specified by the bike manufacturer . That empty space is left there by the engineers by design and is essential to correct operation , you should never over-fill fuel over the max capacity mentioned in your owner's manual . Let the empty space be there

Congrats! Tomorrow is the first service for my GS hopefully.Originally posted by josettan View Post5. When I took the test ride, the only thing that I didn't like was the engine sound. But now, Exhaust note got my attention and I'm loving it
2. After cleaning they applied some kind of oily material over the bike, which I didn't like. It attracted all the dust in Bangalore and I had to clean again after reaching home.
Is there a change in the exhaust note? And that oily thing is common in all SVC. They used to apply it in my old Discover also. It makes the bike look shining but attracts a lot of dust. BTW, how much were you charged for the first service?2004 Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi - 26000 KM - Sold

The Vibrations can be felt ONLY on the gear lever. And it is not at 3.5k. It persists at higher revolutions too.Originally posted by punarvasu View PostA slight vibration at 3.5K is common in the old GSs. As far as I know, the new GSs are free from this problem.

Any new owners out here who is facing similar thing?
I don't think they are cheating me. I used to fill my dazzler and room mate's RE classic 500 from there. And they never cheated. Like many others pointed out already, the fuel capacity of GS is highOriginally posted by sarvodaya View PostThe Pump has cheating you. You lost about Rs.244/-. I'm not sure whether the exhaust note changed or not, but I noticed it now only.
They charged me Rs. 396 for first service. I changed oil and oil filter.
by the way, Since even you bought your GS recently, do u feel any vibrations on gear lever?

I get that vibration by around 4K - 4.5K RPM and then they vanish. Just a bit on the gear lever. That's all.Originally posted by josettan View PostThanks

I gave the bike for service today and the guy hardly paid any attention. He just took my booklet and filled up the first service coupon. Then he proceeded to write the following on the job sheet.
Engine oil change - 265
Oil filter change - 50
Consumables - 50
Additive - 100
Teflon Coating - 50
Then I told him to remove the teflon coating and not clean with diesel. He went off. I called him again and told him to check for false neutrals from 1st to 2nd gear shifts. He said ok but didnt mention in the job sheet and went off.
This was the worst service I have ever had in any SVC.
Guys anyone has any clue what that 'Additive' is?2004 Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi - 26000 KM - Sold
