Mileage report.....
Hii guys, our thread has suddenly gone too silent

. Nothing to discuss as my ride is running fine without any problems except the sound from visor. In three days I have done ~300kms which was mainly in highways and returned good mileage figures(ECO mode), 59 Kmpl (ridden mostly between 4-4.5K) .
After tightening the chain and filling the tires(25 & 32 Psi), there was an increase of 4 Kmpl
.

Dear Friends,
Tomo i am going to give my bike for 7th service, it's 13K ODO.
i feel the headlight power is not enough in winter.
SC guys told the brightness of the headlight is directly proportionate with throttle.
can anyone clear me how to increase the power of Headlight? should i change the Light?Last edited by erbalaji; 12-14-2010, 05:18 PM.

The throttle is not directly proportional to throttle. After 2K rpm the headlight power varies a very little. To increase the illumination many have tried using 55W Osram Nightbreaker(Halonix 35W is the stock). animeher has used the same setup and some are also using this setup. To get more power to headlight, the pilot lamp is disconnected.
Another way is to get the alternator rewinded, but one need to find a reliable person to do the job

Animeher is using HID 35w with DC and removed his pilot lamp, only venu from mangalore using 55w OSRAM in AC with pilot lamp connected to DCOriginally posted by Anupdas View PostThe throttle is not directly proportional to throttle. Before using HID animeher had used 55w bulb with pilot lamps disconnected. Thats what I said
. animeher said there is no comparison between a 55W bulb and an HID, it simply is the best. For touring enthusiasts it will be a better buy.

Hey guys, I went to SC today with mileage complaint pissed enough to ask for bike replacement. I told them that I wasnt even geting 40 mileage. They did a 200 ml can test, I drove, mileage returned was 8.4 i.e. ~42 kmpl under moderate traffic, few stops and sane driving in no mode. They did the tuning with CO2 analyser and said it would respond better now. They took nearly 3 hours to get this together. Testing from my side pending. Wheel jumping problem pending.
+ I met with an accident a couple days after getting my bike. Silencer and brake pedal were replaced. The insurance guy tells me he is deducting some percentage from the covered amount as 'salvage' and Im supposed to pick up the destroyed vehicle parts from the SC so I can sell it to scrapyard or do whatever with it. I ask at SC and they say they have gotten rid of it. WTF????? I thought all this time that those parts were insurance property.
++ What kind of mileage do you guys get in pwr mode?
@ Anupdas: Whats your mileage in no mode man?Last edited by 2strokerama; 12-15-2010, 12:47 AM.

In ECO mode i got following mileages :
Before 1st Service : 59 KMPL(Single rider)
After 1st Service : 56 KMPL (Me and pillon most of the times)
Now i am shifted to Power mode@1110KM on odo, 3 Liters of petrol completed 130 KM's and still reserve is pending
.
I think there should be tuning issue persists in your bike.. you should try hard to get it done by SC people.

I've replaced default bulb with osram NB 60/55 the result is good if not awesome. If you really need stunning headlight you must go for HID with genuine projector and DC set up. But for time being, or till the warranty period you can definitly switch to osram, with some load shedding.
see the result of Osram in my bike

@ Ram
I too had a similar condition when my mileage suddenly dropped to 40-45 when I was riding like a ghost rider
. Bike was tuned for power, but later when re-tuned to get mileage, I was getting the same mileage even with sane driving. I seriously began to doubt its the limit. That was the time when I lost hope with the service centre who did the tuning with CO analyzer and tried tuning by myself.
After that mileage got a little better to 45+, but as I kept on riding the mileage increased. I was trying trial and error method to find the optimum point. With a half dozen tries I think like best point can be found near 2.5 turns from fully closed position. I'm currently running in this setting and is returning 59 kmpl. When the setting was 2.75, mileage was just over 50 but had better throttle response. All these were tested in ECO mode and I'm yet to test Power Mode and No mode. Power mode and No mode is one and same.
I definitely feel a difference(slight) between ECO & PWR modes, now I'm running on Power mode and will post the mileage once reserve is reached. Don't loose your cool, your ride is just taking its time to settle.
@ Venu
The Nightbreaker costs Rs. 800/-, isnt it? Is that really worth to spent that money on it. I feel that the alternator of our GS cannot provide enough power to light the Nightbreaker to its full potential.Last edited by Anupdas; 12-14-2010, 09:19 PM.Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........

Carburetor
Guys just wanted know something about the carburetor.
What is the item called 'Iridium'?
The fact is, mine was totally messed up during the tuning. So I've to inform SVC guys to tune the carburetor but am puzzled to give him the reason.
What genuine reason should i give? Am also worried whether they gonna certainly tune it or not!!
Well if the iridium costs less I can go for a change but what would be the aftermath of changing it.? I mean to say what will be the engine behavior after the makeover???" If you ride like there's no tomorrow, there won't be !!! "
