I am not too sure about the 200ml test by SC as
Firstly, they do not ride the bike that well.
Secondly, How much petrol is left in engine. Only 200ml is used from outside, but there might be still some petrol left in the engine.
Thirdly, 200ml is quite less a amount to establish a real mileage (I think)

I have tried filling the tank full, the problem is i am not sure when the tank is full, as the tank has sometimes gulped 21 or more litres. So even skeptical about that.

The question is after hitting resrve-on-reserve, how much kms the bike should ideally go if it is a true reserve
while doing 200ml test the SC will drain the petrol in carburetor, they start the engine till it dies...Then start the bike for 200ml test.....In my case the SC sit in back tell me to drive
To know after reserve how much km ur bike will run....Its better to test urself
by running ur bike till dry.... keep spare petrol 2 ltr in hand (in can or bottle)before doing this

Rest in city mostly in 2-3 gears.
      1st reserve at 52kms.
Put fuel cock in reserve for 5-10 seconds, then back to ON position.
      Went another 9 kms (61Kms)
Again 5-10 seconds reserve & back to ON.
      Went another 9 kms (70Kms)
Now bike is parked, will check how long this continues..

As per my knowledge the bike cannot run for 9 kms (In city traffic in 2-3 gears alone) in the petrol that is fed to engine between 5-10 seconds from reserve-on-reserve position.
Also it is outrageous to expect a mileage of 61 or 70 from the bike.
Then the dilemma is how to calculate the mileage.
      Mileage Check Update:

After completing 70kms, now when i position the fuel cock reserve for 5-10 seconds, then back to ON position, the bike only moves a couple of kms in ON position. This means that the bike is now truly in reserve.
So as per R&R method, i am getting a average of around 68-70kpl

I don't believe this is possible, hence will recheck again.

              • @Madhu,

Search for Osram NB @ Triveni Road, Yashwanthpur..
The result is amazing..but i must say our reflector is not the one focus well. it spreads the beam more than required.thats the only problem, which can't be sorted out easily.

                • hey guys!!
i gave my bike for first service a 2 weeks back, it seems pretty much the same, supposedly the handle bar was slightly bent when i fell down, other than that it seems fine. Except for the gears which still make a lot of noise while shifting it irritates me so much, when i told this to the sc guy he thinks im a newbie rider and i dont know how to shift properly!! anyways, what wanted to ask was, how do i know what kind of rectifier my bike has?? where can i see it?

Hey Gizmotech, you will find the Rectifier Type on the left hand side of your Bike below the Fuel Knob area. It will be a Silver Aluminium kind of squarish thing. Have posted a Pic of my Bike Rectifier.

                    • One doubt guys.
Is our battery maintenance free and what is the power output???.
While servicing my bike, I saw the battery and it was Exide freedom, with some marking in front like 12, MF, 7BB etc, and the SC people told that the battery is maintenance free and it is 12V, 7Ah rated

But in the manual it says that the battery is 12V 9Ah, and also there is no mention of Maintenance free either in manual or Suzuki website.
                      Pls verify...

The old GS150's came with 9ah battery and its not MF.
But later on, suzuki started giving 7ah, MF batteries with GS. Guess the manuals were not updated.

                          Thanks for the quick reply.

Will changing the battery to 9Ah increase battery life if I am to replace the stock bulb to 55W bulbs like Night breaker along with removal of pilot lamps???

                          • Hi guys,
It's been 20 days since I purchased my GS. I have ridden for 400 kms. From yesterday I am getting sound from shock absorbers. Even when I sit on the bike, I can hear the sounds. This also happens when I ride..Should I wait until first service? Or should I take it to sc nowitself ?

No. you need not change your battery. I've Gsr 2010 model too. I have recently upgraded to nightbreaker 60/55w, and converted pilot lamps to DC and very much satisfied. But iam not sure our battery is maintainance free.
                              @ Clanx,
What kind of noise you are getting from shocks? Is it kinda tik tik sound? i too get when pillion is loaded. I heard this too will be there initially and later on it will vanish.

How did you convert pilot lamps to DC?? Just by drawing a wire from rear license plate light to the front head lamp assembly??

The battery is having MF, 12v 7Ah marking on it.
