Ya, i have to agree with you on that. I recently changed to shell advance S, its worse than that fast trac too !!! (i bought the oil from some small shop in domlur, i have a feeling that its a duplicate oil now. every gear i feel roughness, sometimes i upshift and downshift without the clutch, seems a bit smoother without clutch.

The motul oil which you used before shell, was it just "motul 3000 4t" or was it "motul 3000 4t plus", because motul 3000 4t plus has JASO MA2 standard, it should make gear shifting smoother than 3000 4t too..

If plus is not there, then i guess its best to try out gulf pride 4t, i guess i'll have to call that number you gave me sooner than expected because of this shell oil.

During my third service, i asked S.C to tune the carburetor and the problem started after that. The problem disappeared after retuning the carb.

There is another issue when the throttle is opened suddenly the engine wont respond it takes a second to catch up. This also can be rectified by tuning the carb.
Can you post steps on tuning the carb ? The earlier post by MACH50 didn't work out well when i tried it, because after setting the idle to 3000, and fully closing the fuel screw, the idle prm didnt drop to 1000 like it should have, it only came down to 2000-2500, so i couldn't tune the bike beyond that step.

I was getting mileage of 48, i asked the SC to tune the carb, they recommended card overhauling, and i agreed (like a fool), that brought my mileage down to 45 ! in the last service i complained again, they said they'll fix it, and after service (i checked mileage once, R2R) got 42 now, and the engine running out of breath feeling has come too(small jerks while riding).

I dont think i get false reserves either, because i put the knob to main after it came to reserve, i could go 1.5-2 kms max, not more than that, tried it thrice, then assumed the first time was a real reserve only.

I tuned the carb just as Mach explained. Even when the pilot screw is completely closed the rpm wont decrease to 1000. The point is we should start from the extreme end and at that point engine should not stall. I will list out how I tuned the carb.

        1. Warm the engine by riding about 10 minutes ~ 5 Km ride.
        2. Raise the idling rpm to 3000 rpm
        3. Turn the golden screw clockwise to its extreme position. To keep a reference count the turns.
        4. Now turn the golden screw a quarter rotation at a time and note the rpm. The engine rpm will keep on rising but when its nearing the optimum point the rpm will increase slowly.
        5. The point at which the engine rpm raises to maximum will give the best mileage and performance.

          • @falcon I used the motul 3000 plus and any jaso ma2 goes good with gs.

            @firegun
Good check throughly and never compromise if it sounds erroneous ask them to fix it and give back.

@cbf150m andthose who are in run in please dont play with carburettor during runin even after that if you play with carburettor often if that doesn't works then contact svc for co2 basedmileage test and carb tuning

              Arul,

It is nice to know that your bike is ready to be returned by tomorrow. When you reach the sc, ask the service manager or service supervisor to show you the tappets and to explain how it works. They may do it for you.

The GS is using some advanced technology such as TPS, XTP, SJCS and self adjusting cam rider etc. If you get a chance to see its engine, you will understand how it is different from other bike engines.

              Good luck.

Satan (Lucifer) is the first creation. Elder brother of God. So, senior. The great Indian culture teaches us to respect the elders. Adopt that culture.

Have you heard about Satanic Church, Black Mass and Satanic Rules? Have you read Satanic Bible? If not ask me. I shall give you a copy. I am not kidding; serious. Please reply.

Isn't vastu pooja for buildings and houses?

                      Have a nice day.

I was a non-believer too. My bike met with 3 accidents in a short span. Once my mother put this on my bike, it all stopped. Call it coincidence or whatever you like, most Hindus have Ganeshas on their vehicles.
Btw, my cousin brother's name is Vishnu too!
And the answer to your question-if Christian, put Jesus's pic&so on.
Most of us make it a habit to atleast chant the Lord's name before going on a long ride!
For absolute non believers, just say to yourself that today will be a great day-it works too, psychologically proven positive reconfirmations!

                        • I used the power mode today for the first time. There is definitely difference. I could easily note the difference in sound of the engine. For the people who say it is just light indication just see your speedometer. In eco mode max speed in each gear is less than that of pow mode. E.g in first gear bike struggles to reach 15kmph but in pow or god mode it easily touches 20kmph. Loving my bike now very much..

                            Hi pals,
Today i replaced HL bulb with nightbreaker. and asked the electrician to connect pilot lamps with Dc source from rear number plat light. He connected it with a yellow wire, now pilot lamps are flicker free and thus 10 watt energy is additional to the 55/60 nightbreaker. today i would be able to tell what the advantage is.
