No it's not that tik-tik sound. It even comes without the pillion. It was not there until yesterday and I am quite sure the vehicle has not undergone any accidents. Except for riding in the roads that are not in good condition.
The sound looks like the spring is being released and I fear there might be any serious damage..

here in chennai, the rainy season has started and my bike engine is full of mud.. So I went to local automobile parts shop and asked for the mud flap.. I am very surprised to see that there are no accessories available for my GS. I went to couple of shops with no success.

At last, I purchased XL super Mud flap for rs 10.. Got fevi quick and pasted on the bottom of front mud guard.. It's been over 3 days and the Mud flap is still there..

Its not your shock absorbers thats making the sound, its the swing arm.It occurs on all new GS bikes.
Go to the SVC and tell them to lubricate the swing-arm of your GS....that would rest your worries.

            Sooraj,

Filling 1 litre of oil is sufficient for our bike even though the oil filter is replaced. If needed later, you can top up the oil. Usually it may not be needed if you change the oil within 3000 kms.

The additives used to prevent wax formation, thickening in high temperatures, rust and corrosion, sludge etc. are different in different brands of oils. When mixed, these additives may not function effectively. So adding mineral oil to semi-synthetic (or part synthetic, as Castrol call it) may not be a good practice.

So, from the next time onwards, use only 1 litre of oil. It is not necessary to buy another 1 litre can and keep it for the next 9 more oil changes.

I had done pretty good rounds on my GS since last servicing. So the oil was in very bad condition.Hence I insisted on 1.1 lit during this service and the SC guy filled the rest from castrol 20W40 oil in red cans that are used by Suzuki.

Also there will always be mixing of oil as we cannot completely drain the previous one. So that point is not relevant.

+ 1 even i did faced the same exact issue, after a water service, this was due to water entered in or some muddy dust in the swing arm area.

ask some one to hold the bike and make the back shocks compress and release you can hear the sound from close to the kicker

my local mechanic just oiled it then its gone

                    2. Accumulated dust between brake pads and disc
Mount on the bike and apply pressure on seat to know if its coming from swing arm. It was the source for my case.

We can notice the noise while applying the brake, on regular washing include brake pads as well. It will be gone.

You are not mentioning the tik-tik sound which comes after parking the bike, are you? The other source of sound can be the tappeting sound from the camshaft.
                    Hello friends, Please help:-

                    1. I am getting that weird chu chu sound problem from front. As Anup had directed, I mounted my bike and applied pressure from the back. I could not hear any sound. I took my bike to svc and told mechanic to lubricate the swing arm anyway. But not convinced by my words, they again applied air pressure at the disc brakes and one of the mechanic told me that apply front brakes only for 1 or 2 days and the sound will perish but still my problem persists. I think the mechanic here at Udaipur are not having average skills to deal with it.

What to do? Should I take my bike again to them(I am sure he will blow air pressure again )?

                    2. I am confused by the fuel meter. can anyone guide approx how much fuel resides in tank when first bar is blinking, and when it gets stationary and two bar and so on. Actually I have a doubt that my fuel walve is not functioning. I have rode aboout 100km approx (about 2.5 litres fuel, as mileage i am getting is ~43) after the first bar was blinking but still my bike was running in ON mode. when does this RESERVE comes and how much fuel exists in bike after RESERVE???

                    Please Guide.

                    3. Why does this Tik-Tik sound comes when the engine cools off???

It also comes in my dad's HH pleasure. Is it some mechanism or something?? ( just for the sake of knowledge )

                    • General enquiry

I have been foloowing this thread for quite a time now.As far as i have understood that GS150r is the best commuter bike available now.

But somehow I am not being able to covince my dad on this.He says 'Suzuki bikes are not nice as their parts are costly and difficult to find and also the resale value of these bikes is very less.' Is this true??I am not being able to convince to buy the GS150r for me.Could anyone help me with this? What do I tell him so that he gets convinced to buy this bike?

As 2010 is coming to an end,I guess Suzuki will be bringing 2011 models the next year..Is this true?If yes, does anyone know about the modifications and when would it be launched?
I know its weird asking such questions but I cannot think of buying any other bike than GS150r now...

the area you pointed out is clearly the swing arm only this is a typical issue occurs on many bikes in the swing arm area during rainy season or after you done a water wash.

                        * if it occurred after a water wash then the sound will go off sooner because once the water gone inside the swing arm gets evaporated or drained slowly

                        * in case of rainwater the swing arm may got the mud also that wont go as quick as we expect have to apply oil and grease frequently

What to do? Should I take my bike again to them(I am sure he will blow air pressure again )?

false reserve as said by few of our expert gspians once you got reserve turn again to main and drive if it goes above 2 or 3 kms count it as main, else if its below 3 kms then count it as reserver

in all bikes with digital fuel indicator wont show the exact fuel in tank quantity correctly

the blinking last line indicates aprox 2 or 1.5 ltr (it was mentioned in your GS manual please refer)

                        3. Why does this Tik-Tik sound comes when the engine cools off???

its from the catalyst converter that burns the unurnt remainings which is normal it happens on all new era bikes where in some the sound is invisble and in some bikes you can hear it
leave that its good thing only

It also comes in my dad's HH pleasure. Is it some mechanism or something?? ( just for the sake of knowledge )
                        my answers are in bold

                        # 1 spares are not as costlier than Honda, but cheaper you get cheeped on quality also? so its the right one at right price
                        # 2 No official communication from suzuki yet on their 2011 plan but their would be a surprise release we are expecting from suzuki at around Feb
                        # 3 Go to a good suzuki dealer at your place and let your dad to clear off all the could at the dealer place
said good dealer coz For all company bikes have bad dealers at all places

Wishing you to start the new your with your new steed

If you wait for new model then you can never have your bike because every company keeps on modifying its bikes from time to time. If you like the bike just go for it.

Yes thats true...But as its just 1 month for 2011 I think its quite an option to wait for some time and see if any rectifications or modifications are done in 2010 model...
