really did you try it out i hardly think i will get Mobil here can't even find Motul currently though i haven't searched hard yet.

Anyway I have decided i will be using any oil not more than 2300Kms i rather get a Rs200 Bottle and stop worrying about noise and stuff and visiting the SVC which is 35Kms away this makes more sense and easy way to solve

p.s 2 days after service my GS is looking good hopefully stays the same way will be changing oil but will be flushing the engine first. Also this time cost Rs35 3rd service but forgot to pick up the Oil Filter.

Nice to see lots of new GS owners and useful discussions in the thread.. Keep going guys.. The amateurs (includes me ) need the help of the Pros

Ok.. Here is a quick update...

I have completed 9700km on the ODO... Running on ELF MOTO 4 GOLD 20W40 Mineral oil for the past 2k Km... The things I noticed with this oil are no cold start issues, engine gets heated very soon, good fuel efficiency (I am not sure whether FE is linked with engine oil)

Ok.. I got my bike from swapna suzuki (Anna Nagar, Chennai)... I was servicing my bike with them initially..But now they have shut down and I have go to ABT Suzuki (Nandanam, Chennai) everytime.. It was making me irritated to go to nandanam from ayanavaram for the service... Plus whatever the issues I say to them (includes paid services), the bikes comes back to me the same way (except for it is water washed and cleaned )... But I dont get time to get back to them and report those issues after their pathetic service...

My bro owns a HH Passion PLus and he services his bike in castrol bike zone (kilpauk)...
I went to castrol bike zone with my bro and asked a mech over there to take a ride in my bike...

The problems i reported to him:

            1) Whenever I engage the clutch, shift the gear up and release the clutch the bike gives a little jerk and then moves freely. It was happening in all the upshifts (I was complaining this issue to suzuki service guys for almost 3 times but no use.. They said it was an issue with clutch play and they have fixed it but they havent found the root cause)

            2) Silencer was misfiring rarely (Not often)

            3) Rear brakes not sharp (A typical complaint of any GS owner )

AFter the test drive the mech gave me the following explanations:

            1) He told that there is a part called wheel rubber (sorry that i cant give the exact term). The wheel rubber thing in the rear wheel co ordinates with the chain and other stuffs and helps in gear shifting. He told that if there is problem with that (maybe an issue with the part or due to improper alignment) this jerk thing happens. He also told me that this issue will make the chain to loosen very soon... Bang.. He was very right.. I used to go to local mechanics in 2 weeks after service for tightening my chains. He impressed me... He told that he will check it and change it if it needs to be (it will cost around 100 bucks)

            2) He told this happens if the spark plug gap is not set correctly and if its unclean... He told he will clean the spark plug and the carburettor.. He also told that if the issue persists even after these fixes then there is an issue with some electronic unit (sorry for not giving the exact term ).. Then I need to go and sue the suzuki fellas

            3) All the bikes with alloys comes with some rear brake shoes which doesnt wear off easily and doesnt give sharp braking.. I asked him whether its only with GS. He said nope.. He told that he has to harden it manually.. Then the brakes will do fine...

            4) Checked the oil level and told me that it looks good and i can do another 1k easily

After all his professional explanations for the issues (I am not sure whether the SC guys knows about these really) I decided to go for the service with castrol bike zone.

GOLD SERVICE - Rs. 355 (the same being charged in service centers but with no resolution for all the issues)

That too this castrol bike zone attends to not more than 15 bikes per day with 6 mechanics (I know that suzuki service center runs with 6 mechanics for 30 - 40 bikes per day)

There are also 2 other services
            1) Prime service (125 bucks - Oil change, tighten brakes and basic service) (I think Suzuki service center does only this )
            2) Silver service (250 bucks)

He recommended to go for castrol racing synthetic oil for my next change (Castrol MArketing their product.. No offence meant here)

I asked him whether he has serviced any GS before.. He told he has got 3 customers who comes to him regularly.. He even told me that he ll get me an intro with them

This gold service has lots of other things (suspension adjustment, wheel overhauling, wax polishing, carburettor cleaning etc etc) which I forgot to include. Will post you in detail after getting my bike back
            Hi Guys,

I got my bike from castrol bike zone after service last wednesday... I was quite busy so I was unable to post my comments on the service.... Here are my observations...

            1) The jerk thing after the gear shift (refer the above quoted post) has vanished... Thanks to the castrol bike zone guys for finding the exact issue and changed the wheel rubber thing (Cost - 130 bucks)

            2) I could feel a very good throttle response ... I was having a sluggish throttle response before the service. I am zooming with my bike for the past 4 days... I am loving the ride

            3) Silencer misfiring thing - 4 days have gone and everything seems to be fine ... They have asked to come back if I get the misfiring thing happening again

My friend was riding my bike today... Even he was very much impressed... He was saying that the gear shifts and throttle response are much much better for my bike now (He used to ride my bike often)

I opted for a gold service.. You can refer the link below to check out the service procedures carried on for various services at castrol bike zone

            Service Offering

Overall Verdict - Much much much better service when compared to suzuki SVC.. Gonna stop going to suzuki service except for spares

            • hmm CBZ sound good at Rs355 it is reasonable and in the link you gave @Bubbly it is mentioned engine oil change? is it included in 355 since i think that is extra am i right or wrong?

The gold service package looks like its really worth it. Considering they do all the things mentioned there.

I paid 70 bucks for carb overhauling alone in the suzuki SC,
And during another service, i had paid 75 for chain cleaning and lubrication.

Btw, does the 365 bucks cover the cost of new oil too ?? (i know its too much to ask, just curious)

And btw, we cant stop suzuki service, our warranty will get void, thats the only reason i'm following that 50 day schedule and giving my bike for servicing even though i ride only 700kms between services.

                • 200+ kms covered as part of my second innings.

bike is good as new and with motul mineral oil its super smooth.

Gear (up) shifts are effortless but downshifts hard at times.

                    Guys,

The service doesnt include oil ....... If there is oil change they will charge for the oil separately... They deal with castrol products only (Castrol ACtiv 4T, Power 1 , Power 1 racing)

                    • Is there any way to tell if the cylinder and piston has been changed in the bike, (i mean without asking them directly of course)

Because when i got my bike back from servicing, i noticed the following:
They had taken my bike for a test ride of 10kms !!!

Secondly, i rode my bike around 7-8kms after getting it back, the bike feels totally different, i mean the sound, throttle response, even gears.

And lastly, there's this white mark near the spark plug, and if i remember correctly, thats what they put on new bikes to signify that engine is ok.
(i've enclosed a pic below). (and i saw some piston and cylinder lying around the service centre too !!)

But there seems to be nothing on the bill about piston or bore ?

Should i ride carefully for another 1000kms now (or atleast till i ask them if anything has been done ) I already touched 5.5k rpm the second i got my bike back, now i'm worried coz i realized all this.

Go ahead and ask them dude, nothing wrong in asking...
Before asking them, make them realize that u r very well aware that replacement was done for many people...
Maybe those guys at SC maybe a bit embarrassed to accept the fact, so u will have to ask in such a way that u r asking if u have to follow the break-in for the new bore....

I posted here first coz they would look at me like i'm some idiot if i asked and the engine was still the same.

There will be engine number on the bore ,that is below the cc description. In case of a replacement bore kit there wont be any engine number engraved. At least that's the way it is with other bike manufacturers .So you guys can check it out and find out for sure. You will find the engine number in your RC book and the warranty booklet along with the chassis number.
Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

Thanks for XBHP and the GS owners in creating awareness about manufacture defects in certain batch...

                                @ Raghunandan
Once again; Which batch of GS u own sir??
Mine is april 2009 and has done over 10,000kms
Some of us are really facing issues (initial batch) and have done all possible inspections and tuning, care etc....
                                Please refer previous posts...
I think this awareness is a very good opportunity and a solid evidence for some of us to get this mess sorted out...
If we still think the problem is with our handling or maintenance or is a common issue, our warranty period will get over and we will be the ultimate losers....

Once again, GS 2010 owners, please do not confirm your stand....
Our batch is an entirely different breed of GS...

                                For new Buyers,
After reading all these, do not conclude that GS is problematic...
Now the new batch is far more redefined
Some of us, i mean initial 2009 models had some problems...
Thats why Raghunandan, Mach are not able to digest this issue
I just want some things to be corrected, Thats all
                                Cheers
Mine is a April 2010 delivered bike, i think 20 days before the dual tone ones started selling. mathewsyriac when in a thread every one posts what info they know and would like to share to others so as to handle the problem better, pls dont take it as "cant digest etc", i am just presenting my facts..if in fact there is a definite problem that needs to be attended to ASAP no doubts regarding that, me too got my BA to CA changed after throughly going thru the posts...
