  • 2010 model!!!!!!!!!!

I am not here to justify that 2010 is better than the 2009...
But a personal view on this..
Mine is 2010 model.. done 5000K but not findin any issues in the bike so far!!!!!!!!
i use Motul 3000 4t plus mineral oil...
keep the oil aside... bike condition is also depends on how you ride...
as per my experience i am satisfied with bike even in mileage 62km/ltr..
i'll be giving bike for 3rd servicing after 5300K on odo..
lets see if anything comes before that..

i am writing this because no 1 take pain to write if they are satisfied..
this will misdirect the forum and will never come to know why others are satisfied... and what extra we need to do for keep the bike perfect !!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers,
    Kiran ...

      TOTAL SHAME ON SUZUKI
(World class motorcycle and car manufacture. Their K series engines in car feels ultra refined. Least they could have done is the modified 150 cc K series engine)
Saru,I also have the bikes Shogun and Fiero still..........they are different.
      GSR is different.
GSR was meant for smoothness, quality levels and long tours.I haven't faced any trouble with my bike still now.Its the 2010 bike and can smoke a Pulsar 180 and 200 to oblivion.
Shogun and Fiero are both very tough and ragged bikes, with a lot of performance flowing all over(try mine special ones ,if anyone of you ever drop in Kolkata-they are 225cc smokers).
GSR is basically a Unicorn beater and believe me its best at that.No bike can take on Unicorn the way GSR does and that too doesnt comes at a cost of performance. All it needs is some maintainence, like periodic changing of Engine oil,oil filter, airfilter cleaning, carb tuning etc. Lets think it logically.

Yeah there are issues like rusting and sloppy rear brake and loose chain, but basically I think rusting needs a bit of DW40 oil to be coated on parts prone to rust, and this no SVC does while the sloppy rear brake and loose chain occurs if someone rides the bike too fast all the time, like me.Suzuki dint make the bike keeping in mind spcifically riders of my types. It was targeted to everyone and I feel everyones impressed more than other bikers and their air-cooled 2V 150s.

The engine is damn good.I only wish that Suzuki had done something about the carburetor, with faster needle jet and main jet and a less restrictive airfilter. It would have pulled a ZMA,R15 or RTR180 in hands down.It would be a Kseries bike then

      • We are users not expert to determine what's the problem ? Where is the problem ? What caused the problem ?

We know only the symptom ? Usually it would be a different character in the form of sound or bike behavior makes you pi**ed off

So don't go to conclusion that its piston bore engine is bad they gave a bad bike feel.

As said earlier do let another GS owner (especially the one who got piston and engine stuffs replaced) let drive your bike as he already know and faced the issue can able to pin point its that engine bore / piston issue or not

        @ Mach bhai,

My bike is good and doing well mileage is fine but even after travelling 20 kms with warm engine my bike idle RPM is at 1100 and cold start idle rpm is 1000

As engine doesn't stops at that rpm I feel its ok and good what you say guru

          • Hi All,
I thought the 2010 model was just fine but plp keep complaining, even after payin 70K+ y shud a rider take care of the bike like a small baby.
thr has been this adjusting attitude of Indians giv a hard reply to the OEM take premium but giv us a hassle free bike afterall its not a R15 either.
Look at Honda, they just released one bike and just the word of mouth made it a direct competitor to the Pulsar.
Plp have been ridin the engine for 5yrs but bloody engine doesnot make any noise.
I guess GS is still behind the Unicorn when it comes to engine and the quality of the bike material used.

                Now thats an implying point,
R15 costs a lakh and it requires more maintenance.
                Pulsar220 also needs it.

One should always know that in case of automobiles, the more is the price, the more maintenance.Superbikes and Supercars have a whole lot of more maintenance rather than simpler bikes and cars.

If someone thinks that GS150r would be as hassle free as a Zeus or Heat or Splendour........then let me say it was not meant for that.People pay 70000 on a bike so that they can value their hard earned money and enjoy it,instead of using as a donkey.

Cool down brother any way you are not a gs owner
(i believe you have a unicorn)

We found one guy complaint on gs 2010 model where he used a unsuitable oil grade there are more than 15000 gs sold every month. Just with one guys complaint we cant judge.
In that sense we can blame any (or all) manufacturer.

Last week a boing747 was crashed can I say all their flights are faulty..!

tis is the most ridiculous comment i have read after a long time...
Who the hell said Superbikes are high on maintenance, do u know wat maintenance means its not changing the oil every time u feel more engine noise, superbikes don't corrode plus y r u comparing a superbike with a commuter bike which max clocks 110-120 without speedo error.

wat amateurish notion u have, more money on the brand means more maintenance....money is paid for more comfort/safety or more satisfaction and not ending up in SVC to correct small issues.

please don't take my words personally but take comments to ponder upon.

R15 even if u pay on maintenance u atleast have a satisfaction of being the fastest and having the most good lookin bike.

look bro thr is no reason for me to get hyper, I just want to say that Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha are international brands and we Indians shud not compromise thats wen we will get the first rate quality product, bcoz all ur money spent is going to someother country.
I liked GS but will never compromise on quality esp. on the International products.

I was just going thru the owners comments if u want me to quit this post I will, looks like GS plp just want to be in thr own well and apologies for trespassing

                        • What's with the sudden debate of reliability?! Guys cool down. Firstly, I as owner from Jun 09, didn't even once feel I made a mistake going for GS. Luckily it hasn't failed on me, so I am not completely ruling out the possibility of getting a lemon. But please keep in mind, for every person with a lemon shouting on board, there are many like us silently enjoying the ride!

A quick list to old/new GSpians:

                          1. Change the RR to CA by shooting a mail to Suzuki, don't waste time arguing with dealers

                          2. Tune the carb by Mach50's method. I have done so, and even though haven't yet been able to calculate the mileage, the pickup and overall feel is great.

                          3. Don't expect Splendour's mileage or P220's power, and you will be happy. This is one trustable bike that won'e let you down on highways or be heavy on your pockets. But that's it. If you want mileage above 60, please consider 100-125cc bikes. And I am saying this in all seriousness.

                          3. This bike is not built as a racing tool, like Apache, R15 or even to some extent, like Pulsars. The stance is distinctly commuterish, and a lot comfortable that you will appreciate after a 8-9 hours ride!

                          4. Pay heed to the oil grade, and I will suggest don't play with it. Oil is blood of bike, don't try to change the bloodgroup!

                          5. HID is an apt upgrade for highway night riders. Bike does good without any further coil or RR modification. Atleast mine has done so far!

                          6. The bike IS heavy. No matter how the users will tell you how its weight disappears and stuff, it is heavy, to manueaver in traffic, and to reverse it.

                          7. The road presense is AWESOME. You have to see it to believe it. Persistent use may make you feel other bikes as little toys!

                          8. Suzuki is not Honda or Bajaj, period. Please be prepared for niggling service issues and non availability of parts for a short while.

                          9. Enjoy the ride!

GS has it's own qualities too, it is very stable at speed and next to no vibrations , even though sound of engine is somewhat louder compared to uni. Unicorn vibrates a lot beyond 80 and lacks top end performance, for that matter all the 150cc based on uni engine i.e. hunk , cbz xtreme lack top end whack. The GS unit is much more higher revving compared to Unicorn unit which revs freely to only around 8.5k rpm. Unicorns also are notorious for cold start pickup issues, they will start and run but will not perform optimally before around 15 mins of riding, GS is much better that way ..it only needs around 3~4 mins of warm up time. If you ignore the piston noise , the engine feels sollid in all other aspects. Rear brake of the unicorn was also wooden that's the reason Dazzler has a disc.
