I am actually not bothered too much about voiding the warranty because I have had very bad experiences with Bajaj and then Honda service centers convincing Service people that something is a warranty failure. Especially issues like noises from engine etc which boils down to the Service engineer riding the bike and saying he couldn't feel a thing! My current mechanic ( aka local mechanic ) is a really good one is a ex Bajaj SC guy whose diagnosis and solution to problems have proven very good in the past.I had my Wind125 ( which even bajaj SC guys find difficult to repair ) and then my unicorn serviced from him.

Although I must admit I haven't been to Suzuki service in bhubaneswar, but the dealer who sells suzuki here was earlier a kinetic dealer who had a very poor reputation regarding service, I pretty much know what to expect from this dealers service.

some more info my mechanic gave me was surprising , he used to work on a lot of Fieros ( the first ones with suzuki on their tank, they are very good quality running fine even after 1L kms !! ) . He says almost half of the parts including crank shaft cylinder head of GS150 are exactly the same as the old fiero

One question though, can I buy parts from the service center ? I mean I am not doing the repair job in SC.
First engine core components aren't be their in dealer stock room as they are not FRU (frequently replacement unit)

Am sure its not a cheaper component and they wont give just like that (will ask hell a lot of questions before doing so)

Anyway you are going to buy something which should come as a free replacement

under warranty Fighting for the replacement is our right

I will try my luck this saturday, else my mechanic suggests puting a 0.1mm oversized one after polishing and honing the bore again. The current piston i.e. the original is not sitting tight in the bore and is therefore making slapping noises under hard acceleration. Slapping is a common issue with forged pistons but does GS150 have a forged or a cast piston ? I know R15 and FZ have forged pistons.

the brightness you get at 2500 RPM on BA is reachable at 1500 RPM with CA RR unit
O I C, should i ask for CA (Will it be too much to ask??)
My bike is in SC now, and i am continuously insisting them to change the bore n piston... But they said it is normal and has nothing to do with mileage
But they have no proper answer to the split personality thing....
Whatever, let me wait n see what will happen to my bike after service..

Dont take delivery of the vehicle from service till you get it fixed (thats what we did for my friends Honda Scooter)

+1 sasmit It is risky (may come good but their are more possibilities to go worst after the 1.00 mm hole drilling fix ) its safe to be done at SVC
I agree their are much similarities between fiero and GS but its not exactly the same stuff; our GS is a new model local experts are not well versed with handling core components (such Engine ...)

Seems like a better thing to do..lemme see this saturday If I can convince the morons at the SC to get it changed under warranty. But I consulted one or two people here who hav bought GS150 and both said even after changing bore and piston the sound persist albeit a bit reduced.I think some kind of a manufacturing tolerance issue. I am still amazed at how a company like Suzuki with a reputation for building excellent engines failed to deliver a fault free puny 150cc engine !! For that matter TVS has all its products based on the suzuki 150cc engine they inherited with the Fiero. Really surprising for japanese motorcycle manufacturer to run into issues with electricals and engine !!!

We are all surprised the same way
So many issues, rusting, rear break, engine roughness, multiple personalities, rectifier...... Looks like GS150R was their 1st bike

Anyways, 2010 people are much satisfied...

Though there is a separate thread on wheelies/stoppies, this is what I can say after an involuntary stoppie on my friend's R15:
Use only the front brake&use it hard, don't touch the rear brake at all. Shift your body weight onto the tank&handlebars. It should stoppie any bike, IMO.
Frequent use will loosen/break your front forks&oil seals though.
                          Quench my thirst with gasoline!

                            • 2010 model no better than 2009 model!

For those guys who have 2009 models thinking of going for piston and bore replacement of 2010 models,
PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME

The rougness issues, sound from engine, multiple personality... Everything is present 100% in 2010 models.. I hav 5k on odo after 3 services. currently on motul 5100 15w50 semi-syn oil.. covered 50 kms so far.. all very short trips less than 5 kms.. I find no difference in oil regarding roughness, sound, split personality. One thing i concluded is the problem is NOT WITH OIL. Its manufacturing defect in our GS both 2009 and 2010 models..
This is very DISAPPOINTING for me who had ridden classic MAX R 100 and Fiero. They are doing excellent even now after 10-15 years.

even Bajaj or TVS bikes feel very good and smooth for few hundred kms after Service is done.
TOTAL SHAME ON SUZUKI (World class motorcycle and car manufacture. Their K series engines in car feels ultra refined. Least they could have done is the modified 150 cc K series engine)

Lets Hope something good may happen to our GS after maybe some 20k kms..TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT.

15W-50 is not the apt grade for our bike

we already said that in the thread always go with Xxw-40 Grade

                                * note am not telling its due to oil am telling this grade oil is not apt thats it

am using 2009 model purchased on feb 2010 and crossed 5400 kms mine is cool and going well

on 2010 model the number of fault found percentage is lesser than 2009 model
