I have 2009 GS and i completed 10.5K so far and i completed 5 services for my bike.
since last month i face a problem that self start never works, i thought due to monsoon this may not work, but now a days it becomes serious issue to me, last day (sunday) i ride sion to kalyan after reaching kalyan i stopped to have a tea, after that i used self start it doesn't worked, even after riding 50mins continuously. i used more than 5 times to start. no use. every time when i press self start my digital console blinks, clears the mode, changes trip to ODO and i heard a little noise from engine. is there any problem in Battery? my friend says if there is a problem in battery your horn will not work? is it true? GSpians please help me....
If the console is resetting, then i should be battery for sure....
BTW, try horn... It should sound the usual way, if the battery is ok...
Are u able to self start after riding for few kms???

Can be engine kill switch also as Abdul said...
In that case, spray WD40(Antirust spray) between the gaps of the switch and toggle it a few times...
    Should solve the problem...

But My advise is to ask ur dealer to put CA series under warranty...If any case if u want to move from HID to Normal bulb in future...u need CA and warranty is there for 2 years.afterwards u have to pay for it....
Motul semi synth is not avail everywhere with 15w 40 or 10w 40...Most of GS owner tells only 15w 50 is avail which is not recommended for GS...
Kweek kweek noise pls check ur suspension ...or water inside brake shoe(rear) gives this sound
do they charge us for the replacement of the rectifier(CA)...???
So which engine oil is better for optimum performance ??
kweek kweek sound is'nt coming from the suspension.....i think somewhere around the rear arm.....local mech told me that some rubber bushing must have got loose.... is it correct ????

If i change the rectifier to CA...then can i find a significant improvement in the charging of the battery ????

Also i have completed 7800kms on the ODO....servicing due from last month..should i go for the Motul semi synth oil ??? or stick to the SVC castrol ??? facing same problems as everyone did.....ENGINE ROUGHNESS.. also getting irritated with the chain noise coz of loosening....and the kweek kweek noise coming from the rear...cannot spot out from where the actual sound in coming...

          PLEASE HELP GUYS

Sorry to say ur electrical warranty already void. you cant hide as the first thing they will check is light brightness if you ask for CA series.

and as you have HId there is no need for CA series anyway if all are working fine.

              • the kweek kweek sound from my side is the swingarm noise proper oiling should do the trick.

At last i Found Motul 3000T Plus 20w40 paid Rs 190/L Also found Motul Synth Which cost Rs800 will be Putting motul in few days time as soon as my Shell looks awful but currently it is doing good and still in its golden color and today was very good day in rain it was so much fun to ride the gears were like butter smooth and 6 gear in expressway was 'Awesome'.

Overall my bike has become dirty again in the muds. So i wanted to ask since SVC guys don't clean the whole Chain by removing it should get a local mechanic to do the dirty work since i feel my chain might have lot of dirt in it.

                • Hi all!!!!!
Have given my bike for the roughness issue, and insisted a lot about the bore piston thing, since mine also belong to the same problematic batch (april 2009)..
I asked the service head to test ride my bike,
                  The issues noted were,
                  Roughness,
                  Low pickup,
                  Low Mileage,
                  Front fork noise
                  Poor rear break...

Hope i get a proper solution this time...
                  Keeping my fingers crossed...

Btw, i asked him about the CA rectifier, he replied that CA and BA produce the same result, In CA the company has done some cost cutting and made it smaller. I was given his GS150R as a standby vehicle... 'O' man it had the old AA rectifier and was pathetic to ride during night, very dull.... BA is far better i must say...

No man. You are mistaken here. Just mail Suzuki about the RR unit. You will get a call from nearby SC a few days later. THey will change the RR unit free of cost. I changed twice, once from AA to BA, and then BA to CA, both times they didn't even touched the headlight switch. I too have a HID, and still I didn't hear even a word of opposition.

So go ahead and mail Suzuki. and I don't think CA is just cost cutting.

                    • I too have a noise coming from the engine, actually it was my brothers bike which he gave me when he went abroad. I had given it for a general service ...oil change and small things like a chain adjustment etc. My mech was test riding it and when he came back, he told me that there is a piston noise when accelerating hard. ( I know this mech for around 10 years and have serviced my two other bikes from him, so I am sure he is not taking me for a ride). Has anyone else had issues with piston noise ? Today I have given it to him to open up the engine and look into it. He is pretty much convinced that it is piston noise.

Brightness is better battery is charging faster

the brightness you get at 2500 RPM on BA is reachable at 1500 RPM with CA RR unit

Is this problem there in 2010 models ? If it's not I am planning to buy a 2010 block and piston and replace my current ones.

I am actually not bothered too much about voiding the warranty because I have had very bad experiences with Bajaj and then Honda service centers convincing Service people that something is a warranty failure. Especially issues like noises from engine etc which boils down to the Service engineer riding the bike and saying he couldn't feel a thing! My current mechanic ( aka local mechanic ) is a really good one is a ex Bajaj SC guy whose diagnosis and solution to problems have proven very good in the past.I had my Wind125 ( which even bajaj SC guys find difficult to repair ) and then my unicorn serviced from him.

Although I must admit I haven't been to Suzuki service in bhubaneswar, but the dealer who sells suzuki here was earlier a kinetic dealer who had a very poor reputation regarding service, I pretty much know what to expect from this dealers service.

some more info my mechanic gave me was surprising , he used to work on a lot of Fieros ( the first ones with suzuki on their tank, they are very good quality running fine even after 1L kms !! ) . He says almost half of the parts including crank shaft cylinder head of GS150 are exactly the same as the old fiero

One question though, can I buy parts from the service center ? I mean I am not doing the repair job in SC.
