well i need the F1 model damn no shell bunks in Delhi . Well using 15w50 isn't bad totally it is just that it is thicker and may not be good in cold conditions. Correct me if i am wrong guys.

• +1 to what MSN Bhai said the only thing you want to get a 15w50 is if you are extreme conditions else 20w40 will work just fine in our current weather conditions in my opinion. Even people traveling to Leh use standard 20w40 oil and do just fine

While driving in 6th gear and in highwaY only it happens....after reserve i put 4 ltrs it ran for 151km and bike went to reserve (i know its false reserve)..I did as animer told it ran another 36kms before hit real reserve...then while putting 2ltr it ran 51kms went reserve.again did the same now running 85kms still no reserve..

Actually,KN increases efficiency if ridden economically.Leaner mixtures increases FE.But if you start pushing the bike around thinking you have induced a rocket with KN,without balance the carb likely.......you'd be making a big mistake, you will gain some low end torque but would lose FE most of the time.
My custom mod,for my bike are well crafted out,so that it does exactly what I expect.Nor more.....saving the FE,nor less "catch me if you can"

@Arish.....I think you have turned a rebel and you like to curse the GSR a lot, afterall maybe it wasn't the right bike for you,coz you always like to prove so much that GSR is not a youth bike While I do exactly the opposite Dude
Anyway, the performance mods would cost around 2800 bucks.
KN RC1060 for 1300-1400bucks
P180 mainjet for 260 bucks
Irridium sparkplug is 550 bucks
If you want a double core Splitfire cable,it would cost you 600 bucks.
Thats all a GSR needs.Overmodding than this is not needed,I would rather save and plan for a SBK.
About the HID,first of all,you need to convert the electricals to full DC.Otherwise your HID would be a waste, with glitches like switch burning, flickering low intensity and battery discharging.
Next,I believe 4300K megawhite 35W HID is the one for our GSR.It looks classy and is not illegal too.You can see Mercs and BMWs on such HIDs as stock .I would myself go for this after I convert it to DC.

Another thing, please dont judge a bike's age by months and years......quote the kilometer. If your ride is well around 5000kms,go for all the mods.Use synthetic oil too.
Hi Mach,

as this is a 35w HID it can be fitted directly in to our GS or need to do wiring DC and all,
asking this question as our default head lamp is 35W only

Seems all are busy riding their GS nowadays... happy riding guys

To put your doubts away this is there in 2010 model as well. I had filled about 5.8ltr of fuel and ran 320 Kms when the bike started showing signs of coming to reserve i switched to reserve for 2 minutes then back to On Position did 30 Kms until it finally came to reserve position at 350 kms which translates for more than 60KMPL after the SVC tuned my carb.

p.s Till now i haven't found a sweet spot with Motul 20w40 gear shifts are not as smooth as they were with Shell

MSN........DC is a must before you go for HID otherwise, the HID would be useless
first,it will discharge your battery even before you warm-up
next,it will blow your circuits
third,it will keep flickering and wont be worth all the bucks you invested in buying it

Try Osram Nightbreaker or Philips 35W.........never try 55W on stock reflector,it will melt it. Thats all.

for me, gs struggles to pull with a pillion uphill/climb slopes..
even when i rev the bik near 6k rpm, oly the engine roars violently but nothing great in pulling power..this bike is purely made for highway/plains cruising and its very good at that..but when it comes to traffic/city/hills, it shows its weakness in handling/easy manoeuvring(in cities)/pulling(uphill) .. the difficulty in riding in traffic is mainly due to unbalanced and very heavy handlebar character and partly due to its weight and average low end power band..(all in my point of view)
By the way, motul 15w50 semi syn oil is getting better day by day.. using it since last 4 days.. now the bike feels better than with sc oil.. the reason i went with 15w50 is 20w40 doesnt seem any good..(tried 3 different brands including sc oil).. after this oil, if 15w50 doesnt seem good even after covering 3-4k kms in future, i am planning to go for some good brand 20w40 synthetic.. or if this 15w50 works better in coming months, i am planning to go for motul 300v 15w50..
Also, i am going for the fazer fairing , K&N, NGK spark plugs next week.. shortlisted a shop in hyderabad where they do these mods..Regarding fitting these mods, any other mods are required to be done for these?
I need to increase only the low end power with the help of K&N(and ofcourse to have that wonderful note).. for this, any upjetting & Fuel/air valve adjustments are required? please help.. I believe the fazer fairing will release the handle bar from the GS doom and instrument console weight and make it more easy to ride in traffic(99% of my ride is in hyderabad traffic. thats the reason i am going for this 'fazer fairin mod')..
please, experts here help me with these mods .. I badly need these mods to make my driving through the f*****g hyderabad traffic
Hi all!!!!!!
Remembering i was complaining about the engine roughness
Last monday, i had given my bike to SMK Porur, Chennai; and insisted a lot to change the bore n piston...
I too faced the issue that the bike struggling too much, making noises only and a very bad mileage.... Tried tuning the carb a hell a lot of times, absolutely no use at all....

As usual Mr. Kalyan (SC head) was at my service... He had the bike for five days...
After the service, he said that the Carburetor was changed and said the engine is Ok....
He explained that the carb has got electronic sensors (maybe TPS)...
This time in spite of messing up with the carb, he just changed it to a new one and went for a mileage test... his result was 12.1km for a 200ml test = 65kmpl... The he again tried the same with the old carb and found that the result was too bad
He accepted the fact that some things in the carb are beyond their limit, so went ahead replacing under warranty without wasting time...
He replace my break lever too (Since i told him that my fingers are blackening due to bad quality paint on it) Even he agreed that if i further find any increase in noise, he is there to help me out...
Whatever problems I had, Man, this is the Best Service One can Ever Get.

When i rode back home, i too find that the bike is free revving...
Regarding mileage, i'll post u guys updated....

Now.... About the engine noise.....
I was given a standby bike during this course, oh myyyyy, it was very very noisy, in fact i was not even able to judge the engine stroke
Mr. Kalyan told me that, that is the real defect (bore piston) and my bike is just fine... Maybe for the service which he gives me, i should have to consider his words
About the split personality behavior, i didn't get a convincing answer yet..
Will ride tomorrow and let u all know...
End of the day I realize, a faulty carb can really "Drive U Crazy"
