    I filled normal petrol only.
But the person at the shop wasnt friendly, he didnt even let me select the model or anything, he just gave the F2005 and said you cant choose and stuff. (luckily thats not the bunk i usually visit)

Anyway, do you have any idea what we are supposed to do with that card they give ?? he made me write my name and number on this yellow card, but he never took it from me !!

Well, there is a carb drain screw, i loosened it, and collected the petrol (with the petrol knob on off), and the amount of fuel was 27ml, so thats how much out carb holds.

Regarding mileage calculation, its pretty complicated, i guess there's some dead volume in the carb too, so we cant use the entire 27ml of fuel..

While calculating mileage with the can, i got 52, and then immediately i tried this carb method, i could go 1 km.
(and on empty roads, with constant speed, mileage with can 55-58, and with the knob off i could go 1.2kms.)

I dont know how these figures help much though. couldnt see any proper relationship between them.

so best way to find fuel consumption is using 200ml can which is used by svc guys.

Actually that is not the case the carb doesn't hold that much amount of fuel especially if you have your Carb tuned to lean and this method gives you like 20Kms after switching to On from Reserve then there is a issue with the indicator.

Carb can hold fuel but it will not make so much impact on running 20 odd kms correct me if i am wrong guys.

p.s Not that much happy with Motul only issue gear shifts having lot of thud sound which disappeared when i used Shell Advance Fast Trac

        Yeah u r true....
R to R is very much misguiding
moreover when u put the bike on side stand, some fuel flow is again directed to carb even during the reserve point...
I would suggest u to Reset both trip A and B initially at a reserve point....
Use trip a to measure for each time it comes to reserve... About trip-B; do not reset, instead make a not of how much petrol u r filling in since the reset...
Calculate the average when u fill in about 15 or 20 liters....

lol never seen so much complication in calculating mileage for GS even Calculus looks much easier than calculating mileage in GS. So many people quoting so many variables lol

            It happens
            BTW, how do u calculate???
for calculating 1 or 2 liters, R-R is not a reliable method always..

              * Either 1 or 10 liters i used the following way

              * Reset the trip A once the bike stops
              * then turn petrol knob to reserver and drive but again turn the knob to mail
              * if it goes for 5 or 10 kms or more ill take the trip B meter reading
              else
will go with trip A reading

this may sounds weird for some, but it works for me

              • Hey fellas,

After going through this thread, I saw GS150R is a decent bike and how people (including me) underestimated it. I got my GS150R about 10 days back from Value Motors Millers Road. Initially I felt that the bike is very underpowered but now, it has become free revving. Amazing after 50-60 kmph. I'm only 5'6" and I'm very comfortable riding the bike.

I have revved the bike upto 5k rpm and twice 6k rpm just for a few seconds to reach 75+. I maintained 4k-5k rpm most of the time. Is this a bad thing to do? I kept changing rpm in regular intervals all the time like mentioned in the manual.

I had filled 17 litres after getting it out of the showroom. The showroom guy said it had 1 litre of petrol. So its 18 litres in total. Today my bike came to reserve and the odo read 712. Assuming reserve is 3.5 my milage is about 49. Is this decent?

I've noticed the proest GS150R owner on this thread is MACH50. And even MSN1 is very active and he is from Bangalore. I'd be glad to meet a fellow GSpian.
                All peace Bro. xD

To take trip B reading(average of how many litre we filled) ,Trip C is needed with each press 1 is added to existing data and continuous press to reset to 0..
To note down how much ltr we filled...

The rear panel protrudes quite a lot. How do you use Saddle bags without damaging the bike?

So 4 what you are waiting for go and grab yours... Vroooom
Yeah i will do it ASAP. Actually when my bike came into reserve then i had filled Rs.200 petrol to check the mileage. I wanted to fill 350 at that time only but i backed off since the attendant told me that this offer is valid only on shell super.
BTW i came to know one thing about shell. Although the petrol is bit high priced than the others (58.10 in shell & 57.63 in others) the petrol tends to last longer than others.

No idea about it. Maybe they are collecting it for record purpose & they might have forgotten to take it back.

You can contact animeher. He had done tours in his GS; you can find his tour details in touring thread. Also he had done something to attach saddle bags in his GS... just check out in the thread or pm him.

@ all - Quick update; ~14800 Kms in the odo(May 2009 model); 10th service due - will have to take it this week. bike is still doing good. Man at 18 months after the launch, GS still has treamendous road presence. Still people turn around and gape at GS bikes. "WOW a GS150R.,,,,"; "Sir, intha bike eppadi irukku ?" (how is this bike ?).. These are more common at signals... Had I gone for unicorn or FZ, I would have missed GS a lot....

                            • Even I heard its a great tourer, but haven't yet seen anyone doing touring a bit. Maybe it is not fit for long distance touring.

Just kidding . I use the bike extensively for touring. Did many short and long trips with pillion and lots of luggage. Just returned yesterday, doing 'Samartha Sthapit 11 Maruti tour' in one day! Bike toured for 400kms in a day without any problems. It is an able tourer, and its abilities far exceed the rider's (atleast mine).

As for the saddle bag question, have a look at this thread:

I used this mod on a 10 day trip with saddlebag, and the panels are still shining new. For keeping the tank clean and free from scratches, use bopp tape from 3m before putting on the tankbag.

But here in erode its completely upside down there are many owners who underestimated it by comparing with fz and pulsar telling no to buy this bike for other due to its weight and other mad reasons(telling like this" vandi pick up illinga, engine sound varudhu") .not good for gs.
and suzuki should come up with new add
